With Hogmanay* (AKA New Year's eve) almost out the way, and with 2016 rattling towards us like a high speed train ready to come off its tracks, now comes the talk of new year's resolutions.

Anyone got any? A lot of people I know agree with the opinion that NY resolutions cause more harm than good, which I kind of agree with, which is why I tend to keep mines simple.

  • less cuddles with the baby and more with the dog
  • watch more current films
  • start recycling baby toys and clothes
  • get a kitten (is that a resolution? Don't care)

*Here's some classic (self-explanatory) Hogmanay action especially for you, @Mr. Pole. Basically, bagpipes and fiddles, music and alcohol. Normal Scottish behaviour.

I dont make restitutions any other time of the year, not going to start now

New Year Resolutions have been easy to do for me, both of them.
To fail miserably at quitting smoking.
After the surgeon gave me two weeks to live in November 1999 my resolution was to be alive at the end of the year. And I have been successful every year, and if I fail and folk say so I'll pretend I can't hear.

Aw that video made me feel all nostalgic for my street parties of years gone by.

Keeping them simple also. To worry less and appreciate what I have. My big one is to drink less alcohol as it is not agreeing with me - and I don't mean the quantities. I've now become allergic to gin as well 🙁

Ethan Reigns,
is it better to have failed to do a particular thing than to succeed at doing nothing?
Faith,
the Gin that you allergic to, ho2w is it made as several Gin's are made in different ways with varying ingredients.

Well, nothing really. I never make New Year's resolutions. I want to ask out that girl I know from University, but I'd wanna do that regardless of what time of the year it is.

This one was a Highland Smoked Oak gin from the Strathern Distillery. I picked it up at a local Christmas market. They are at local farmer type markets so I will have a word with them. I picked it as it had a hint of whiskey about it, which I am also partial to.

I've also had it happen with Bombay Sapphire which is more commercially available. It doesn't always happen, I suspect it is me. In the last few years alone I have developed allergies to pets, wheat, gluten and dairy. I've had all the tests and they have all come back negative yet I am clearly allergic to the point of not being able to breathe, cramps, rashes etc. If I keep a clean diet and don't eat a lot of meat I find I can often have little bits of things that would normally make me sick without having any side effects.

Resolutions:

Learn a language.
Go somewhere I've never been before. (like a country, not the ladies bathroom in a restaurant)
Write more Fuffy fan fiction.
Stop getting into pointless, circular arguments with certain Bboard members. It's a waste of time. (I'll probably break this one though...)

You don't get into arguments as much as you used to :)

Yes! Write Fuffy fanfic! lol
thetopher,
if you change your mind and decide you'd like to have a fun circular disagreement about Baseball as it is known as in the USA, rounders in the UK.
If the condition is that we remain on speaking terms afterward, then fun could ensue.

Well that's because Gin tastes like shit, I learnt this awhile back as I used to fan😱 Good luck anyway🙂

Does the girl really exist or are you just using it to make a point about Resolution? If so I agree with the sentiment, but not the inventing of humans😛

Topical reference there, I used to play rounders in School, not sure anyone plays it now😉 Is it the same as Baseball? Thought there were subtle differences...

The girl does exist, and I'm happy to see that you got my point 😀

@Mr Trick Thanks, I will.

Good luck, with it, treat her good if you do go out.
Not sure I've ever accomplished any of my New Years resolutions in the past. So I'll try some different ones then.
I'd like to read more books, and work on my writings. I'm not going to say I will finish anything, but I think upping my game and doing more is a reasonable goal. Also to try and spend more time with my family.

The book one is a classic. I would like to do more reading too, and writing when you got a roll with it can be good fun so why not. Just keep it simple is the idea with resolutions. But I've had it up to here with them, and won't be making any this year, and that way I have nothing to life up to😛
