How on earth could I have missed this site ?
This is amazing.

Just wanted to post and say hi to everyone. I´m not new to Buffy but to this forum I am.

Sooo . HI EVERYBODY ! 😀

Another new member! Fantastic. 😀

Welcome to the boards and so on.

Quick warm up questions: Favourite character?/Favourite Episode?

and you put me at the tough spot first thing 😛

I´m soo bad att choosing only one, I´ll have to say

Buffy/Spike and The body/I only have eyes for you.

Yours?

(Did I pass ? (A) )

Buffy and Spike are good choices. 🙂
And The Body is an utterly brilliant episode (the fact that it didn't win some kind of award shows how stupid those who grant those awards are.)

You passed! You are now accepted. 😀

Mine would have to be Faith. (With Buffy and Wesley not far behind)

Favourite ep...I change my mine daily on this, but at the moment 'This Year's Girl/Who Are You'- I've never seen a body-swap episode done as well as this. Both funny and moving, with real character insight.

Hey guys, I'm new here - well new yesterday.

Some of you I have already interacted with, for everyone else 'Howdy'.

NB - I love Buffy the Vampire Slayer. And Angel.

I know, but as a technophone and messageboard virgin I'm just getting the hang of this newfangled thread lark.

Go easy on me!

Hey, no worries matey.
Usually it seems to be blaze that asks this but by way of a getting to know you; who are your favourite characters and which are your favourite episodes?

Welcome then! I love how this site and show kees attracting poeple.

Enjoy your hopefully long stay here!

How many of each do you want?

As many or few as you like, it's just a good way of setting up a nice and easy discussion to ease you in to the board. Having said that, you're already right at home, what with the other stuff you've been posting, so feel free not to bother at all. I just like to hear people's perspectives, particularly if they have an unusual or obscure favourites (no pressure though! If you're just straight up all about Buffy or Xander or one of the other popular characters, we'll all be cool with that too). 🙂

Okay I'll do top 5 characters and eps for each show:

BTVS characters:

Spike
Anya
Harmony/Cordelia (essentially similar characters)
Giles
Faith

ATS characters:

Wesley Wyndam-Pryce (or, as I like to refer to him, The Mac Daddy)
Angel
Lilah
Lindsey
Lorne
(Gavin as runner-up. I wept when he died)

BTVS episodes (I've tried to give ones that aren't the obvious):

The Body
Hush
Passion
Conversations With Dead People
The Zeppo
Prophecy Girl

ATS episodes:

A Hole in the World
Reunion/Redefinition
Not Fade Away
Hero
Spin the Bottle

Y'all?

I added Prophecy Girl as an extra episode because that's the one that made me a full on fan of the show. And for that I will be eternally grateful to it.

Nice. I'd agree with pretty much all of those BtVS characters but even though I like Cordelia I hate Harmony despite the fact that, as you say, they are incredibly similar. The episodes you chose are among my favourites too and even though I could never declare an out-and-out number 1 favourite, Hush is probably the one it would be if I was really forced to. I love the Zeppo as well, I don't think I've ever seen it on anyone else's favourite list though.

I don't really know about Angel because the first time I watched it I was pretty young and now I can't remember it very well. I'm currently re-watching it but I'm only about half way through season 1. I'm loving it so far though.

Angel is more erratic than Buffy as a show. In my opinion. Season 1 of Angel, which I'm very fond of is highly experimental and I like that. 2 and 3 can be hit & miss in places. I love season 4 though it gets slated. And season 5 is incredible! Literally incredible!

Angel is much darker and more adult than Buffy. Whilst in my opinion, Buffy the Vampire Slayer is about growing up, ascending from youth to adulthood, Angel is more about grown-ups and the choices they make. And most importantly how they live/deal with those choices.

Angel's preoccupation with the themes of redemption, temptation and freewill make it much more of a morality tale than BTVS. In my opinion. I can't decide which I prefer, a preference is too difficult.

They're too different to say that one is better than the other, I think. They're just both awesome. I do like that Angel is darker, but Buffy's lighter-heartedness is a big part of what makes it what it is.

Yeah. I think that's why I have an issue with Season 6 of BTVS. It's too dark for Buffy. It's like Angel dark. I don't think BTVS works when it's too dark.
