Scott Allie unveiled quite a few specifics about season 9 at the WonderCon convention today.

The main points:

* Joss will write the first issue of Buffy season 9, and the remainder of the 25-issue series will be co-written by him and Andrew Chambliss (who wrote for Dollhouse). Georges Jeanty will be the artist.

* The Angel series will be called Angel and Faith, and will be written by Christos Gage and drawn by Rebekah Isaacs.

* "Willow has some major trauma ahead of her."

* "The repercussions of Giles death is in some ways is what Season 9 is all about. There will be flashbacks featuring Giles and everyone will have to deal with what that means."

* There are still plans to have miniseries that run parallel to the Buffy and Angel & Faith titles.

* The first issue of Angel & Faith will be out in late August and the first issue of Buffy in early September.

Nice, i'm very excited to see the dynamic of Angel and Faith.

Plus, After the Fall hasn't finished, so some of the Fang Gang will hopefully be coming back (in some way lol) to support Angel. Everyone cross their fingers that Welsey is going to be involved!!
 
Flashbacks of Giles! I love that! I posted the cover art in another thread, I'm really excited about season 9!
 
SOO excited about Faith and Angel! I have a feeling this is going to make me like both characters a hell of a lot more.

Ugh, am I the only one not excited about this? I wish Faith could get her own. She doesn't need a 'back up' of any sort.


I'm glad to hear about the Giles flashbacks though, the first piece of s9 news that makes me think I might glance at the occasional issue. 🙂

During the Darkhorse panel they said that Faith is not Angel's "sidekick" or a supporting character. She is going to be just as important to the book as Angel.

Oh I'm sure she is. But I still would have wanted her to get her own book, free of either Angel or Buffy. To me those dynamics are just kind of... old. I would like to see her in a new setting. (Like s8 Faith and Giles, that was refreshing because she had never interacted with him like that before. We've already seen her interact plenty with Angel and have a pretty good grasp of the bond between them)
 
Slightly dissapointed that it's only a 25 issue season. I got used to having a little bit of new Buffy again every month. Didn't hear much about the new Angel on darkhorse, damn I'm all out of the loop.

(And 😱 what happened to all my rep!?.. oh well)
