Welcome to the Buffy Boards -- and to Raiden!

I'm rather new to Buffy, too. I started watching in 2006 and joined up on here when I finally watched all of Buffy and Angel all the way through. The boards are great! I'll be glad to help in any way possible.

I'd like to take a minute to write an addendum to my original post which started this thread:

Last night was a momentus occasion... I watched the final ever two episodes of "Angel!" (Sniff, sniff) I've now seen everything - all the Buffys and all the Angels. I hope to ignite the fuzzies in all of you with the excited energy of someone who is fresh off the series for the first time!

My thoughts:
The Buffy finale was one of the best series finales I've ever seen. My only grievance is the death of Anya, one of my favorite characters. She was so funny!! But I absolutely loved the fact that Buffy no longer had to deal with the burden of being the one and only Slayer. (Well, one of two, but Faith didn't seem to experience the burden to the extreme that Buffy did.)

The Angel finale... well, that left something to be desired. I really liked the whole episode a lot... right up until the last minute and half. How could they just leave us hanging like that, mid-fight??? I felt a bit cheated, having had invested myself in these characters (albeit, in a tenth of the time it took most of you who watched it during the airing years.) I really wanted to know if they made it or not. And also, with Angel signing away his right to the ChuChan Prophecy (Sp?) and never having any payoff with that - what a disappointment! I was sad that Wesley died, too, but I can understand why they chose to take that route.

Just some humble opinions! Oh, I ordered "The Long Way Home" Buffy comic (seasons 1-5) from eBay... I've never read a comic book in my life but I'm looking forward to it. Long live the Buffyverse!

I felt the same way about Anya dying. I also felt cheated at the end of Angel. I was like, "A cliffhanger? Argh!" I also thought the Shanshu prophecy should have been resolved. Finally, like you, I recently ventured into comic books for the first time with Buffy season 8. If you're interested, they have Angel: After the Fall, too. That picks up where Angel left off so that you aren't left with a huge cliffhanger.


We're kind of lucky that we found Buffy late. We got to watch everything faster, without time off for a hiatus once a year and without waiting until next week to see the next episode. The arrival of the comics means we don't have to live with a long dry spell. New Buffyverse material exists again! Hooray!

I know - it's crazy how I just became a fan after so many years of the shows being off the air, and how it timed out perfectly with the arrival of season 8 in comic book form! It's awesome!! Also, another weird and perfect timing incident is that the Los Angeles Paley Center (formerly the Museum of TV & Radio) JUST had a Buffy reunion in March. I couldn't make it on account of it being across the country and all, but I do plan on attending a screening right here in my hometown of NYC. Yippee!

Let me just say that TV on DVD is the greatest invention of mankind. Maybe moreso than tacos. 🙂 Seriously though, there's nothing better than not having to wait for the next episode. Instant gratification at it's finest!
