Hey,

I just finished up watching last week's Private Practice and I saw the previews. Tomorrow night, Nicholas Brendon will be on Private Practice.😀 Just a heads up.

Oh crap I forgot last weeks. I need to watch those on demand today. Thanks for reminding me Abbey 🙂

SWEET! Thanks for letting me know; I'd love to watch!

Welcome! If I'd watched it sooner, I could have let everyone know more than a day before the episode is suppose to air. 😀

Well, I see how you are friend. When's the last time YOU talked to me?! Hmmm? ;)
He didn't do too much, but what he did do was good. It was a good show for Charlotte.

Private Practice and the Anti-Xander

I don't know if anyone has talked about this yet, but does anyone here watch Private Practice? It's that Grey's Anatomy spinoff...

ANYway... there was a story this season that Nick Brendan got to be a part of, because who doesn't love to see Whedonverse sightings? Unfortunately, it was a rape story, in which Nick is the attacker to one of the doctors. There's been three or four episodes in this arc so far, and Nick is such an amazing character, but it's so difficult to watch him play such a disturbing and disturbed character.

His character is Lee McHenry, father, boyfriend, and rapist, who shows little or no remorse for the pain he causes others. The show has even alluded to him having beat up his girlfriend, but insists that he's an amazing father to his son.

I don't know about anybody else, but I for one had the hardest time watching those episodes and seeing him in this totally different role. As Xander, he's lovable, funny, and sometimes a little naive. As Lee McHenry, he's the total opposite. Even if, as the audience, we didn't know he was the rapist, he's not funny, or good looking or even a character that you could grow to love no matter what the circumstances.

So, my questions to you are:

Do you watch the show?
Have you seen the episodes?
What do you think about the Anti-Xander?

There has been a thread around here somewhere about it.

I watch the show it is not my favorite like Grey's Anatomy but I have been watching week to week for a while now.
I have seen the episodes.
I think it is great for him to expand his roles. I mean this is so different and like you said hard to watch. It shows his diversity which is good for him. Do I like him on here nope. Is it weird to see Xander this way yes. I will say though the storyline has been done very well so far.

So, my questions to you are:

Do you watch the show? I do watch the show.
Have you seen the episodes? Every episode.
What do you think about the Anti-Xander?
It was interesting to see him play someone so Anti-Xander. I agree. it did feel hard to watch.

I catch the show every now and then. I watch Grey's nearly as religiously as I watched Buffy, but I'm not a big fan of the Addison spin-off. She's just not that intruiging a character.

I've seen the episodes with Nick guest starring as well as all the crossover eps. But, like I said, not that interesting. Seeing Nick on the show was a happy accident. It made me tune in again.

Whendonverse sightings are always great. I get a little twinge of excitement when I bounce up and down like a lunatic saying 'Hey! He/She was on Buffy/Angel!!!'. That's honestly the reason I started watching Leverage... CK's on that one. *sigh*

It was hard to watch Nick play the Anti-Xander, not gonna lie. Watching Buffy, I've gotten used to seeing him smile and play the funny, adorable guy. Seeing him play something so... other was hard. He's extremely talented; being able to play a mentally unstable villian with any kind of skill takes some acting chops. He's darn good.

I haven't watches the most recent episode yet, but it's still on my DVR waiting to be watched.
I LOVE Nick playing this kind of role. I had no idea he could be so creepy and bone-chilling. I am hoping this is the boost he needs to revive his career and get some really great roles again.

He was so amazing, and it's always nice to see the actors we love step outside OUR comfort zone and show off their skills playing other roles that are opposite of our favorites.

I watch Grey's pretty religiously, but I'll catch Private Practice sometimes on demand when I remember, and I just happened to catch the first Anti-Xander episode... which made me tune in for the rest. It's hard watching the show and not be fully committed to the characters. So while the rape story was hard to stomach, especially with Nick, I don't think I felt as uneasy about it as I did for say the Spuffy scene in Seeing Red where Spike attacks buffy, which was also hard to watch.

I'm not sure there will be any more Anti-Xander episodes, but it was nice to see Nick doing something.

Really? The first part of the story where Nick's character rapes Charlotte just aired here last night (yes, German TV is always late :sigh: ), and it made me wince and shudder a lot more than Seeing Red ever did, and not only because of the brutally realistic wounds Charlotte was shown with. 🙁

Do you watch the show?

I don't.

Have you seen the episodes?

Only the ones with Nick.

What do you think about the Anti-Xander?

I'm really glad he played this role. That shows how much of a great actor he is. He really pulled it off, just like he did with Hyena Xander and Vampire Xander.
