Nightmares - Interesting Facts

I thought Laura was attacked to show young people that smoking is bad.

This is one of my least favorite episodes of the season, that little kid who plays Billy is so annoying. And that scene where Xander finds all those chocolate bars, and he starts eating the second one before he finishes the first one he found, who does that?

Cordelia's nightmare was hilarious! 😀
 
What, that there's a connection between her smoking and being afraid of being beaten by a monster ? I've never thought about, I don't know I think the smoking was a bit random and just an excuse for her to be alone
 
The message they wanted to send is that smoking is bad.

But since the plot of the episode is that everyones nightmares and fears start to come true, we can guess her fear is to get cought smoking (maybe her parents are strict about it or/and she can be suspended from smoking). So, there's a link. Her fear and smoking is bad message are connected in a form of coach kicking her ass.
 
I didn't even notice the connection between Nightmares and Once More, With Feeling. I've seen all the seasons at least 6 - 7 times and still I didn't pick up on it.
 
This is my second favorite episode of season 1, and I will always have a soft spot for it. Back in 1997 this was the first episode of Buffy I ever watched, and was instantly hooked.

Never made the connections between this episode and Once More, With Feeling before reading this topic tho.
