In Fool for Love, Spike attributes Buffy's longetivity as a slayer to her not having a death wish. She has family and friends. In the 7th season, we learn that Nikki has a son, so did she get killed?

You mean, "why did she get killed?" right.

Good question. I wonder...

Spike says "Death wish", but he seems to be describing something more like a death curiosity which will one day make the slayer careless.

I don't think he says Buffy's ties to this world make her invulnerable to this, only less vulnerable. In fact doesn't he tell her in spite of her ties, it's inevitable she will one day let herself become careless.

Nikki Wood had a son, but the mission was her priority even above her son as we saw in LMPTM. Also I'd say she was older than Buffy was at the time of Fool For Love.

I always got that impression, its not a matter of if, but when.
Yes, Nikki had a strong tie in the world, but in the end its the Slayer that should be there, not Nikki Wood, and we know that a Slayer, no matter the situation, has an expiry date less then the average human.

Here's another spin-off from this question I find interesting.

Providing you take Spike's explanation of death-curiosity serious; what is it about Buffy's life at the time of Fool For Love which makes her start to get curious and therefore careless in a way she herself comes close to being killed? Well, her mother is seriously sick, and her sister's existence is being called into question. I think it's kind of clever on the writer's part how that makes this episode pertinent.

Its all about the mission 😀

But I agree, there something in Slayers that prioritise killing evil over everything else. Its how they were made. To kill. Slayers may fight it, but thats still why they were born.

well I think that Nikki mightve met her death since she simply underestimated Spike during their battle on the train. She thought she had the upper hand and in the end Spike ended up getting the best of her.

Ofcourse also knowing that she was fighting a badass vampire, her son mightve been on her mind to much, worrying if she would see him again etc..

Maybe being a mother, and a slayer both at the same time became her death wish. Sort of like Buffy, to get away from this cruel world where everything is hard. Every night she has to go out and slay vamps, and has to worry about her son being able to grow up.

Another Nikki-related question. In School Hard, Spike says, "A slayer with family and friends. That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure." But we learn in the 7th season that Spike knew that Nikki had a son, so did he say that quote in School Hard?

Actually, if you consider the graphic anthology (Tales of the Slayers) Whedon was involved with canon, Niki also had a husband.

I think this Spike comment is just one of the things they slipped on, or didn't think was important.

If you wanted to though, I guess you could say "Oh well, Spike didn't like it, but that didn't mean he hadn't seen it before."

Nikki had a son but Buffy had her mum and all her friends and was leading a normal life as well as slaying. Her life wasnt all about killing monsters. It seems like Nikki's was, even though she had Robin. I think this is what Spike meant was unusual.

That on Joss just hadnt thought Nikki up yet 😛

I wonder, and if anyone has an opinion please share...do you think Buffy would make it past the other slayers...age wise? Do you think if she didnt awake all the other potentials (with the scythe and Willows magic) in the world that she could have gone on way longer then the others before her? I think so....atleast I would like to think so.

She's probably already older than a lot of them. But to be fair, she has died. Twice. She just keeps getting brought back.

See thats the point, Buffy died, twice, once at 16 once at 20, IF it wasn't for Xander et al, she would have been a young death, so i don't think you can put Buffy in the same situation

The way I saw it the death wish was like hanging of a cliff with only one hand held on, you know you'll never get back up and eventually will lose your grip. Therefore you would sooner or later long for the release of the final fall. With nikki it was like she was hanging on to a cliff with a child attached to her feet, whereas with buffy its like she has friends who have hold of her and keep her there for as long as possible, if that makes sense.

Ok about Nikki, IMO, in season 7, since there were two different Nikki Woods (season 5 and 7) The season 7 one looks kinda like Angelina to me, ok I realize they are different in their ways, but still, I see it. That is a compliment for both of them!! 🙂 🙂

Got another question here. In School Hard, Spike claims that the last slayer he killed begged for her life. Explanation please?

It could have been him making himself out to be a badass. More than he already was. All talk.

A clever little play on words by master Spike. What he meant was, she begged him to take her life. What? You think Spike make slips? He's not a TV character!!! ...HE.....es R>.............E>.,.,.ALL..................................................
