Nintendo appreciation thread!

To be honest, I haven't bought a Wii-U yet. The launch line-up seemed to be little more than tech demos and decent software is still a little thin on the ground.

They've even admitted that the HD Zelda:Wind Waker remake is just a stop-gap to keep fans happy until the proper Wii-U Zelda is complete - Imma sure Nintendo will make full use of the touch pad to add a new flavour to the gameplay and hopefully throw in a new dungeon or two!

haha so you're doing like me and waiting for the big guns to buy the console 😀 I'll def buy it when they make the new Zelda which is suppose to be the biggest one ever made, with one dungeon being the size of the entire Hyrule kindom from OoT.

I heard about remake only being a stop-gap, and honestly I'm not too bothered! WW is still awful!

I'm a bit worried about the touch bad tho, I want a classic controller for once!! Def not a fan of that feature, but that's just cause I'm old school.

lol I know Wind Waker has its haters. Nintendo rushed the game out and it definitely has an 'unfinished' quality about it - The endless sailing gets boring after a while and the entire backend of the adventure is ridiculously padded-out with that "fetch the Tri-Force shards!" chore. =(

Thats why I'm kinda hopeful about the remake - it will give Nintendo a chance to fix everything that was wrong with the original.

I'm pretty old-school as well. SNES FTW! =)

But I'm not too bothered about the new pad. It actually has huge potential - you no longer need to have the game screen cluttered-up with your health gauge and other stats, all of that can now be displayed on the pad screen. Also, you can have full access to all your weapons and items on the pad screen meaning that you no longer need to pause the game to access them which always annoyed me because it interupts the flow of the game play.

In short, I think the new pad can actually make games more immersive.

Just to make it clear to everyone else, I meant to say amazing, and as in I'm not bothered by the wait because WW is one of my fav! I get why people dislike it but I found the sailing umm relaxing lol Totally serious, I enjoyed the heck out of that dam sailing!

And You're completely right! I never thought about it that way. I guess I was thinking of the pad more on the level of the controls functions, but having a small screen is actually pretty great! And well I do love the DS so maybe once I start playing the Wii U I'll enjoy it!

Yeah, I'm waiting on better Wii U games before I go out and buy the console. Wind Waker should be good. I never got any further than chasing pigs around the island when I was younger 😀, but I bought it on my GameCube and have finally made it off the first island. Hooray! I just haven't played my GC that much recently because my PS3 is plugged in, and I'm using it as my TV, bluray and DVD player.

I still need to finish Wind Waker because I was so close to being done, but My boyfriend and I broke up so I didn't have a chance to finish.... :/

Omg how did I forget Banjo!? I used to play it all the time but I had to get my dad to answer the questions against the witch Grunty because I was too young to be good at it haha.

My favorite part about the game is hearing how the characters talked when I was little.

Some more games I loved on the Nintendo 64 was Mischief Makers, Diddy Kong Racing, and Glover.

Secret of Mana is easily one of my favorite video games of all time.

Wow. That takes me right back to when I was a kid. I loved SoM far more than any of Squaresoft's Final Fantasy games. It blew my mind when you got that cute, cuddly flying dragon thingy to fly around on.

Chrono Trigger was pretty special too.

I should probably mention Metroid Prime on the GameCube too. AMAZING GAME. Dripping in atmosphere. I lost about 2 weeks of my life playing that game. =P

Chrono Trigger!
Used to play a lot of Super Mario 64 & Cart! Also played Star Wars: Shadow of the Empire. Some good gaming memories there, but I kinda quickly moved onto PS1.

Mario is my favourite video game franchise ever! Nintendo <3

I recently bought the Wii U and I'm kinda wishing I waited, I'm having a lott of fun with it, but there aren't a lot of game out for it, I'm literally only just playing Sonic Transformed Racing.

Luigi's Mansion was one of my favourite Gamecube games, so I'm SUPER excited for Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon for the 3DS \O/
Just one more week till it's released in England~

OMG didn't even know there was a new Luigi Mansion coming out!!! This gives me even more reasons to buy the 3DS!

The Zelda games, classics and the new ones. Been playing the classic Zelda games they released at the Nintendo 3ds E-Shop.

The Phoenix Wright Attorney game series are another hit for me.

I figured I should post about this because I can't contain my excitement: NINTENDO ARE RELEASING A SEQUEL TO ZELDA: A LINK TO THE PAST!!!

I know that, technially speaking, all the Zelda games are sequels, but this is something speacial.

ALTTP is one of my all-time favourite video games. It was the first Zelda game I ever played and I can still remember that magical Christmas I had as a kid playing this game - lost in a world of dungeons and fairies. It's still an amazing game to play and it hasn't aged a day. It really helped to cement my belief that Nintendo were the world's greatest video game developer.

If you're a life-long Nintendo fan like me, the magnitude of something like this cannot be understated:

My reaction was literally omg omg omg omg omg... I had been waiting to buy the 3DS for a time where a game that was truly worth it would be coming out. Well, this is the time, I'm ecstatic! I think this actually looks like the best Zelda game to come out since Majora's Mask, and that is saying a LOT, because I'm a huge huge fan of Twilight Princess.

Ooooh, that's so exciting!!! I've never played A Link to the Past, though. So far Twilight Princess has been my favourite. 🙂

Bringing this old thread back after E3 a while back, can I just say Nintendo's line up is stacked.

I'm dying for Pokemon x and y's release!

And Super Smash and Mario Kart 8 both look completely awesome!

My cousin and I used to play Super Mario 64 obsessively and Mario Party...which often led to some cat fights haha...

I'm pretty sure that my N64 is still in tact but I haven't actually seen it in years. Ugh.

Anyone getting Pokemon X or Y? Less than 24 hours to go! I'm psyched! 😀

:jumping40

Excited is an understatement, I've been counting the days ever since I heard about it! Spoilers kind of ruined the new pokemons a bit, but I pretty much already have my team made up in my head lol

Are you getting X or Y? I'm getting Y. Who are you starting with? I've had sooo much difficulty deciding which Kanto starter to choose. I think I've made up my mind. 😀

I actively sought out spoilers lol 😀

I've also told myself I can't start playing until I've started some uni assessments that are due soon. I just know that Pokemon is going to consume my life. 😀

I'm definitely going with Fennekin! I'm a huge fire starter buff! I must admit, I'm kind of disappointed with the final evolutions thought. But I'm in love with the typing! Fire/psychic and water/dark is kick ass! I've never been a fan of fighting, so I wouldn't play with Chespin. Who are you gonna go for?

I'm also going to get y! I'm forgetting the name but I need to have that seahorse poison pokemon!

Also, anyone else a bit disappointed we only get around 70 new pokemons? I mean they look awesome so I'm really liking this gen, but I would have wished for at least a hundred.

Yeah, the final evolutions aren't great, but I don't think they're awful, either. I'm slowly liking them more and more. I'm starting with Froakie and am going to get Charmander as my Kanto starter. I'm not that disappointed with only 70 new pokemon. I'd rather have only 70 well-designed ones than 150 poorly designed ones like Trubbish 😀 the new dual types of the starters' final evolutions are awesome. I've always loved Psychic and Dark Pokemon.

Less than 12 hours!!! Eeek!!! 😀
