Buffy Won't Spin Off In Fall

There will be no Buffy the Vampire Slayer spinoff series, at least not next fall, cast and crew of the UPN series told E! Online. "Somewhere down the line," Anthony Stewart Head (Giles) told the site. "I reckon there will be a Buffy spinoff. There's no rush on my part, and I know the fans will wait."

The site also reported that Head and James Marsters (Spike) may make the transition to The WB's spinoff series Angel in the meantime. "I think maybe I will," Head said. "I talked to one of the writers about it and said it might be quite fun to bring me over there. It's such an open book, and that's what makes it so exciting."

"Yeah, I think I am," Marsters said. "Definitely, we don't know"”but it is being talked about."

But other cast members were not sure. "I don't know, probably not," said Alyson Hannigan (Willow). "Right now I'm in talks for features and stuff, but nothing I can go into."

As for the upcoming Buffy series finale in May, the site said that it will deal with Angel (David Boreanaz) and Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar), as well as Spike. "I'm in the process of writing the script now," creator Joss Whedon told the site. "The show is about life, and the final statement on life is death. On this show, it's not even that. You want to pay homage to the fact that [Angel's] a big part of [Buffy's] heart, no matter what, without saying anything definite on what will happen for them in the future." Can't say that I am suprised, but I agree that loyal Buffy fans will sit it out and wait to see what Joss comes up with in regards to a spin-off sometime in the future.

It'd be good to see how they would work the character of Giles & Spike into Angel but as I like both characters I can only think it would be good.
 
Can't say that I am suprised but i am a little down hearted about waiting. Plus i do think Joss needed some time off the guy has been going full force for seven years if taking a year to refreash his batterys means that when we do get a spinoff it will be better than if he didnt take a year off its worth the wait.

I wouldn't mind the wait so much which will be even longer in the uk if we just knew if there was going to be a spin-off and or cast members joining Angel.
 
:: broken Ouch, that hurts. I'm glad that Tony and James might make the move to Angel, though (especially since Giles and Spike are two of my favorite characters!). It would be so weird to see Giles and Wesley working together again. At least there's some hope left for a spin-off down the road... and Joss is right, being the kick-ass superfans that we are, we will stick around and be there if a spin-off eventually does happen. But no matter what, I'm still going to miss Buffy and the show so much!! ::crying2: I mean, there's just no replacement (plus, I'm not an Angel fan, so I don't know if I'd be able to stand watching Angel every week).
 
yeah, eliza didnt do the spin-off cause of her FOX show, which i hope'll do well
 
Actually, I'm kind of taking this as a break for fans as well. I mean, I don't mind having a year or so off, and not having to worry about when the next BtVS episode will be on. I'm devoted to way to many shows, and with Buffy being my favorite, this just takes a load off. Joss will probably still be great even when he's 60, so one year away from it all is no sweat. Plus, this gives me a whole bunch of time to catch up on my Buffy books reading without having new storylines pushed into my head by the spin-off. It's a little sad that Alyson Hannigan won't be making the jump to Angel, but it's understandable. I suppose she can't stay with one thing forever.

with the needless addition of spike and giles...isn't the angel cast going to be way to big...even with a guest staring role or whatever...

i hope eliza's project will do well...but a plot like that is way to falkin played out to be successful..
 
I think it'll do good to have some time before they rush into another show. But, I will be excited to see it and who it'll be about (unless it's someone who's name starts with a K and ends with a Y! No thank you).

What ever happened to Head's spinoff? Are they not doing that anymore? Cuz i'd like to see that.
 
Though it hurts me to see their's not going to be any spin-off soon, I hope that this will give Joss time to come up with something new, even more mind-blowing!
 
Whatever happens, as long as there is some form of Buffy on T.V... at least until things get really bad Im happy.
 
I will wait, forever if necerssary. i wished for Faith so hard and I know it's not going to happen, at least not yet. But anything to keep some of the characters alive. As for Spike and Giles, I trust Joss, He has never really failed us.
