Ok this is taken from http://www.bbc.co.uk/cult/news/buffy/2003/03/10/3135.shtml and they are usually pretty solid with information. The article seems to say Eliza Dushku has turned down a Faith spin off show and the next option is a Willow based show.

Alyson Hannigan seems unsure that a rumoured Willow spin-off series is a good idea

It really depends on Joss," she told the E!Online web site. "If he's involved, it would be really cool. It's so weird, because it's a great job, but I think it's also sort of time to see what else I can do."

Asked if a role on Angel might be preferable, she added: "Ooh, yes! [Alexis and I] could have a secret little tunnel from one trailer to the other. That would be so great."
With Eliza Dushku passing on the opportunity to star in a Faith spin-off series to replace Buffy, some TV insiders feel a Willow-centric show is the most likely route for Joss Whedon to take.

The Zentertainment media news and rumour web site claim that the UPN network, Buffy's US home, is apparently hoping for an autumn launch for such a show, which would also feature several other Buffy regulars.
 
Okay. This is the official news, James Marsters directly said it at a convention in Cleveland. What Joss originally wanted to do was a spinoff starring Faith and Spike. Eliza backed out of the deal because of her show on FOX. So that deal has been scrapped. Joss has told James though that whatever spinoff is done, Spike WILL be apart of it. Joss also made no effort of contacting Michelle, Alyson, or Nick about a spinoff, only James and Eliza. So I would assume a spinoff is no longer going to happen, because his original plans are ruined, or else he will do a completely new idea.

Hmmm. A Willow spin-off ok. But I'd actually like to see Willow be a reg on Angel. That'd be kewl. Plus Aly and Alexis wouldn't have to worry about being apart or anything. They'd be together all the time. Hope it happens.
 
they really need to do some kind of spin off, as there are a lot of angry fans out there, i personally think Willow would fit in on Angel, but we need a spin off, Ripper could be that, we'll just have to wait and see!
 
I actually think Joss deserves to take a year off from everything, as long as it comes a spin-off after that. 😀
