No more Vamp face?

I think it's great when Angel turns on his Vamp face when in a fight.
So intimitating.😀

I don't think he's done that yet this season.🙁

I know he used his vamp face once to get under the skin of some guy that he needed info out of - but that wasn't in a fight.

What do you think?
 
I think he vamped out when he was fighting Hauser in the classroom in Conviction.
 
You're right - I had forgotten about that.

Seems to me he used to go all Vamp quite a bit more in the past.

I love the ep in S1 when Cordy gets prego from that demon who distributes his seed through human males - and Angel goes to ask the guys a few questions at the gun club.
One of them shoots him a couple of times - Angel doesn't fall, but is all hunched over - when he looks up he has his Vamp face on and says "I really don't like being shot."
Then throws him through the glass.😀

He usually goes Vamp when the fight isn't going his way with his human face.

Do you think the Vamp face grants him a bit of extra strength - or is he using it for the intimidation factor alone?
 
Really? I haven't heard that on the show, just that Doyle was stronger in his demon face. I think it's for intimidating people.

I love all the times when Angel makes a point of not actually being human by putting on his game face. A bit predictable, but fun to watch.
 
i had noticed that also, that he wasn't using the vamp face alot this season. I did think that it was just for intimidation though..do they really get stronger?
 
Maybe it's because that costs quite a bit of money, and the Wb is pretty stingy when it comes to Angel. I guess their trying to conserve as much funding as possible?

While its never been SAID in the show that vampires are stronger when their demonic visage, numerous times has a vampires actions shown an increase in power. Spike is season 7 of Buffy when tired to a chair vamped out and immediately broke free, in one instance in Angel I remember Angel having a cut on his forehead and when he vamped the cut vanished, indicating an increase in the healing power as well. Also in Buffy Season 1 Prophecy Girl Buffy tells Angel to put on his game face indicating it would help him. The Buffy novel Tempted Champions states that vamping out increases the vampires strength but that is official not canon. Also we saw the true vampire nature when Angel vamped in Pylea and the increase in strength it gave him was enough to defeat Grusalugg. I assume it is because the demon is being released and that is the source of the vampires power that causes the strength increase.
 
It does take a long time and a lot of makeup to get DB into vamp face, so it's possible they're trying to save time and money.

So the demon in him is what makes him stronger, but if a vampire is a mix between demon and man, doesn't it mean that physical appearance wouldn't matter?
 
I think he vamps out when he's really pissed off. A couple of times on BtVS, he vamped out when he and Buffy were verbally arguing and it would end in her slapping him...

A vampire is a demon soul/spirit, possessing a human body, the power all comes from the demon, spike and angel both have souls which give them a conscience but no extra power. When a vampire is in human form it is controlling itself reigning in the demon for lack of a better term so the strength and power of the demon whilst still there is slightly less than when the demon is allowed to show its true form, the demonic visage. Here the demon is fully unleashed, or at least to the peak level it can be in the human body. At least that is how I see it.
 
Well i haven't seen any of season five of angel yet as it hasn't screened here but i think he will put on his vamp face he has to it wouldn't be angel otherwise.
 
i might be wrong but i think that it was mentioned in "The Ring" season 1 that putting on fangs makes vampires more powerful.

I just skim read the script from Buffyworld of 'The Ring' and couldn't see it, but as I said I only skim read it. I don't remember it though.
 
In Apocalypse, Nowish when Angel is fighting the Beast he gets his ass kicked. The Beast hits him and he is sent flying up and lands on that thing. When we see his face he is all vamped out. Then he jumps down and starts beating the Beast. Showing superior (sp) speed.
 
Going into vamp face probably does make a vampire a little bit stronger--even if it's never been explicitly mentioned.

The idea is that when a vampire changes into their vamp face, they're no longer holding back. It's "no holds barred" time.

As someone else indicated, it's a bit like giving a "green light" to the demon within.
