Julie Benz has joined her No Ordinary Family co-star Michael Chiklis in booking a fall pilot.
Benz has joined CBS’ untitled Susannah Grant supernatural medical drama which, like NOF, has high-concept elements. Jonathan Demme is directing the hourlong project, which centers on Michael (Patrick Wilson), an ultra-competitive surgeon whose life is changed forever when his ex-wife (Jennifer Ehle), a doctor running a free clinic, dies and begins teaching him what life is all about from the hereafter. Benz will play Michael’s sister, an unfocused and overwhelmed single mother with a huge heart.

Benz co-starred on Showtime’s Dexter and recurred on ABC’s Desperate Housewives before she was cast as the female lead in NOF last year. The show’s star, Chiklis, last week signed on to topline another CBS pilot, the comedy Vince Uncensored. Both are in second position to the ABC superhero drama, which has struggled in the ratings and is unlikely to see a second season.

Yay more Julie!

Although I'd like to see her in more awesome things, I really hope that NOF gets picked up for another season. What say ye?

Aww I really want No Ordinary Family to get picked up 🙁 but I'm glad shes got something book if it doesn't. We'll still get to see her on tv hopefully.

I lost interest in NOF a few weeks ago. There were just too many gaping plot holes for me to keep watching, which is sad because I loved the premise and the characters. (Except J.J. ARGH.)

Yeah JJ gets on my nerves. LOL
I'm thinking if both the stars of "No Ordinary Family" are already booking pilots for other shows, they pretty much already know what has yet to be announced: the show's been cancelled. 🙁 that makes me sad!! I love NOF!

It's only been on for one season right? I haven't watched all of it. Just some episodes here and there. But you bring on a good point. They must know it's getting canceled

If NOF doesn't get picked up for a second season (which it probably won't, I've lost faith in the system)... I'm super glad Julie's got something else lined up. But I would SO like more NOF. I love NOF.

Yeah, it's only been on for 1 season, and I did notice it was on the "in danger" list that was in Entertainment Weekly last week. Bluh...

I'll miss NOF. But I'm most bummed ANGRY about Brothers & Sisters. That was my SHOW. Now the only thing ABC is good for to me is Wednesday night comedies.

I KNOW!!!!!!! ME TOO!!!!
I'm sad about "Brothers and Sisters". I didn't watch regularly, but I liked it...

I will however watch this new Julie Benz show. Not just for her, but the delicious Patrick Wilson. 😀

Wait a minute, what new Julie Benz show? I missed that I guess.

And I freaking love your banner!

I'm glad that NOF was scrapped, the actors would have been given a really bad wrap. Their acting seems quite good, and the plot is ok-ish. If the show had a half way decent director and producer team it could have been ok.
But when he jumps over sky-scrapers then drops down on another, you expect some sort of crater where he lands, but no, he slides along the top ~ seriously badly produced.

With Brothers and Sisters, knowing when to stop is a good thing. Some of the story lines are becoming a bit..... strange.

The baby storyline was a bit much. As was Sarah's paternity issue... but still very entertaining
