No Sarah on DVD extras?

Well I don't know if it was because she was a Diva but to be honest during the show especially the early years she was shooting more than the others. She was in movies that is how I looked at it when I asked myself that question.
I agree, I think it was mostly due to her packed schedule (would've been fun to see her in some gag reels though). Though she is featured some in the 'Once more with feeling' extras at least.
She wasn't at the wrap party because she was filming Scooby Doo in Australia at the time. She had to fly out as soon as filming wrapped and couldn't make it to the party. That was a contract issue and nothing really do to with Sarah.
As far as I know, no one has come out and said that Sarah's a diva or they hated working with her. James Marsters has nothing but the utmost respect for her. However, almost everyone has said that Sarah is extremely professional and extremely private, which could explain why she didn't want to be included in the gag reel, at least, she doesn't want to appear unprofessional or like she wasn't as good as she appears.
Not in appearing in the commentary, however, I have no explanation for that.

She wasn't at the wrap party because the filming of Chosen ran long and she had to be in Canada to film Scooby Doo 2. From what I understand she had to go right from the set to the airport on her birthday.
She isn't on the DVDs because the commentaries were recorded while they were filming. Sarah had the most work out of the cast, most of whom don't appear either. The interviews like the Buffy Bites ones don't appear probably because Fox were cheapskates with the DVDs.

I think if I were to be an actress, I probably wouldn't do a whole lot of extras/DVD stuff either. I know that would probably disappoint my fans but really, my career would be about being able to experience different things and moving around as much as I could. I would feel that spending such a large portion of my life continuing in what I've already done would hold me back. Maybe she feels something of the same thing. I imagine it's probably not a blow of to the fans or anything personal.

Personally I was disappointed Sarah never made many appearances on the DVD special features, I watched all of them and I don't remember seeing her that much. I'm sure she was not a diva, but I don't think taking 30 minutes out of her schedule to talk about the show is to much to ask. Plus, the DVD special features were being made when the show was still on the air, I know the season 2 special features and commentaries were made during season 5 of Buffy, so everyone was still around

I was thinking about it and she wasn't always busy. I mean she worked a lot but to me the most would have been in between seasons 2 and 3. She was doing I know what you did last summer, Cruel Intentions, Scream 2, Simply irresistible around there and that small cameo in shes all that. She did a lot but I don't really remember to much from around season 4-6 besides for Harvard Man.
I mean regardless I don't hate her for it I was just really thinking about it. In my mind I am always quick to say she was working like previously but yeah I don't remember to many big things after late 90's early 2000 now that I think about it.

Consider shooting Buffy took up 10 months out of the year for her I'd say she was more or less always busy... with the hours shooting takes and wanting to have a personal life.
I'm sure she could have squeezed extra material into her agenda but considering that she's the lead and the amount of scenes per episodes she's in I can understand why she would choose not to in favor of other things, whatever they maybe (rest, personal life, exercise, other work etc etc...)
I understand that as well but I see many people on popular series do two things at once. Ian Somerhalder went back to Lost while filming The Vampire Diaries and he has time. I know she is busy but I have seen way busier people who stop and do some interviews. Either way I still love Sarah.

I think it's different with Sarah. Sarah loves spending her free time with her family and friends, just doing nothing. And she has more unfamous friends than famous ones, so I guess she has to take more free time to spend with them. She also spends a lot of time with her mom. Most of these younger, teen actors are good friends with each other, so they spend most of the time together. So they have more time for interviews and stuff. You can't say she never takes time for interviews and tv shows, she just takes it less than some other people. As I see it, her friends and family are more important than her than her fame.
Well Ian the example I used is actually the same age as Sarah about 33 so he isn't younger. I am not bashing her but I am saying she isn't that busy plus it is like how long 20 minutes? I know she likes to spend time with her family and I can especially understand that now her being a new mom. I just think I used to over exaggerate how busy she was in my mind but when I really thought about it she wasn't.
I never said she didn't do interviews.

I get that as well but I am just saying she was on a series for 7 seasons. She could not have been busy the whole time. I have just seen busier so either way oh well I still love seeing everyone else.

When you think about Buffy as a whole and look back over 7 years of the show you come to realise that shooting this show wasn't so regular. Sarah was the lead of the show and was in every single episode and in the majority of the scenes. Then you have the long days added in which Sarah was probably on set for a good 18 hours or so, 6 days a week (possibly 7) and of course there were night shoots as well. So Sarah was sacrificing quite a few nights (including her personal life), on top of that she was promoting the show with interviews and photoshoots.
I can imagine doing the DVD extra's were put right on the back burner for her. It's a bummer she's not on them apart from one which was taken from the Bio channel but the rest of the cast made that up for her loss. I'm quite happy to know that Sarah gave everything else to Buffy, a lot of other actresses in this business can be far worse than that, and will only do things when big money is involved. Something of which Sarah seems to be the opposite of.

Curious what exactly the plethora of other cast contributions to the DVDs is.
The DVD commentaries were done while they were filming the last 3 years. When you are on set, your time is not your own, not even if you're the star. Everything has to be OK'd with the various producers there.
She did plenty of interviews and discussions over the years. Why isn't the Buffy Bites discussions on there? Or the 1998 Academy Panel? Buffy Meets Blackwood (which actually had to be done on the way to the set for lack of time)? Why no outtakes?

It's always disappointed me immensely that she didn't do more interviews/DVD extra things. It's something that's been a huge interest for me. Sarah does such a great job on Buffy; it would be awesome to get some insight on her feelings of the show/character and more about what she was thinking at the time. It's really a shame.
She definitely isn't a 'diva' though. Did she not go to the Buffy Reunion a couple years ago? She probably had a lot of things on her plate so it just didn't work out... as unfortunate as it may be.
Also, just wanted to add, Sarah has mentioned that she much prefers a half-hour TV series rather than a full hour like Buffy. That comes off to me as if she felt like she had to put in too much hours and that it was probably hard to balance it with other things in her career and her personal life.

I don't think it's fair to say "She had time, she could have done it" when we have no idea what her life looked like. Or if she even wanted to do it, which would be a very valuable reason for her to say "Thanks, but no thanks". She owes us nothing.
You seem to assume everyone can handle the same amount of work. But not everyone can do that. Or want to.
Even if she wanted to do interviews, maybe she just didn't have the energy.
Not that I get why she would, since she probably did other interviews and such, and after all, how much time can people spend working and talking about their work before you start hating it, even if it is your dream job? From what I gather, popular actors have crazy lives, that would make me start to drink or pop pills. Filming the same scenes over and over again, doing interviews from time to time, having a personal life, having to get up at weird hours, waiting to film, filming the same scenes over and over again, and again and so on. I can imagine wanting to squeeze more into that. I mean, a commenteray might have to be done several times as well, to get it good. And not only would she have to talk for about 40 minutes, she would do so scriptless, maybe tired while having to sound like she wants to be there.
No clue if she thinks the way I would, but all in all, I can't blame her, whatever her reasons are. Even if they're just that she's not interested enough. It's her life after all. If someone called me a diva because I didn't want to work extra to please people I don't know, yet work hard for anyway to bring entertainment to, I'd be a bit unkind in my answer (and again, I repeat, this might not at all be how SMG thinks. Maybe she loves her fans a lot and are very sad she couldn't do extras).

And perhaps if they did a bad take they'd have to do it all over.
