Has anyone noticed that this is probably the only season that has no stinker episode(s) or Amazing episodes whatsoever?

And by stinker i don't mean forgetable episodes, i mean they are so bad that you can never forget them

Season 1: I Robot You Jane
Season 2: Bad Eggs
Season 3: ???
Season 4: Beer Bad, Where The Wild Things Are
Season 5: The Replacement
Season 6: Double Meat Palace, As You Were
Season 7: Too many to name

What is Season 3's stinker? I can't think of one.

And then you have the "Amazing" episodes. Every season has them, except this one. What episode from this season is right next to these ones below

Season 1: Prophecy Girl
Season 2: Becomming Part Two
Season 3: ??
Season 4: Hush
Season 5: The Body, The Gift
Season 6: Once More, With Feeling
Season 7: Conversations With Dead People

I would say the closest is "Graduation Day Part Two", but i wouldn't put that on the list, i would say it's really really close though. I think it's weird that this season has no horrible episodes, and no Amazing episodes. Overall though, the episodes are all consistantly great which is why it's my favorite Season. I just never thought about the fact that this season spawned off no stinkers and no classics.

I dont think there's a bad episode in season 3... Just great ones... My favourites (and which I find amazing) are Graduation Day and The Prom... Amazing and lovely episodes.

I honestly disagree. I thought there were some eps of the third season that were just so wonderful (Choices, Enemies) and others that I really wish I could forget (Helpless, Beauty and the Beast).

Earshot. Fantastic episode. There's many more I know but I'm too tired to think of them now 😉

I liked Helpless, but Beauty and the Beast was my least favourite episode until Beer Bad. Enemies didn't make the least bit of sense, but it was terrific viewing. As for one Amazing episode... Earshot?

Though yeah, I'm prejudiced. S3, as you said, was the most consistently good. Besides which, the supporting cast itself was never better than S3 - Angel, Cordelia, Oz, Wesley and of course, the most painful name in the world to have to google, Faith. So even an otherwise weak episode would have been raised a few notches higher merely by the cast interaction...

I think you're right with the cast interaction - not to say the other seasons didn't have it. I think the third season had a lot of it.

Season 5: The Replacement

I am SHOCKED! The Replacement? A bad episode? Two Xanders!! How can you go wrong? lol

I think The Wish really stood out in season 3 as a great and original episode. And Dead Man's Party was AWFUL! But season 3 was generally good all round!

I thought that too! I really like The Replacement!

The only reason I didn't mention Dead Man's Party is because of one of Giles's lines. In reference to the mask: "'Oh look at this. Isn't it pretty?'" Bloody Americans....I loved that line.

There are bits of each "stinker" ep I like. Such as Willow's imitation of Oz and Veruca in Beer Bad and Buffy hitting Parker over the head with a stick.

L
Lethe
Take that Parker! Haha, agreed!
I think theres not an extremely bad episode (like other seasons have a plethora of) but I have mixed feelings on some...

I'll rate each episode from Season 3 on the basis of Below Average, Average, Above Average and Simply Spectacular

Anne - Above Average. Gotta love B livin' it up on her own, especially her little banter with the nurse and one of the best fight scenes in the Buffyverse.

Dead Man's Party - Below Average, but not that bad. There is some great dialogue and scene's (Buffy and Willow at the very end), but overall I really don't like this episode.

Faith, Hope and Trick - Above Average. I love the introduction of Faith and Buffy getting single white femaled! Although after hearing Faith speak for the first time, I thought she was British ("Thanks B, couldn't have done it without you.").

Beauty and the Beasts - Below Average, and I'm a Bangeler! The plot was corny, especially the whole serum thing.

Homecoming - Above Average. I actually really like this episode. Most of all, Buffy vs. Cordelia. Oh, B!tch vs. Superpowered used to be biggest B!tch of all time!

Band Candy - Below Average. Just not feelin' it.

Revelations - Average. Its ok I guess, the plot is decent. Love the whole bad Watcher thing. And its the first of many times that we see Buffy kick Faith's butt (Anyone notice how Faith was extremely bruised, but Buffy looked perfect?)

Lover's Walk - Below Average. Spike, man, your supposed to be evil! Just kill 'em!

The Wish - Simply Spectacular. What the Buffyverse could have been like. And with the introduction of Buffy, I honestly thought it was Kendra from the pants. And her battle scar, she was scary! I wonder who would win, Normal Buffy or Wishverse Buffy?

Amends - Below Average. And once again, I'm a Bangler.

Gingerbread - Below Average. Ripoff of a fairy tale? DUH!

Helpless - Simply Spectacular. Just because we don't get to see Buffy with her superpowers for once and personally, I felt really bad for her when shes running through the streets, scared for her life.

The Zeppo - Below Average. I actaully hate this episode, but only because I would have rather seen Giles, Willow, Buffy and Faith fight off the Apocalypse. And the CGI was pretty damn impressive with the whole tentacle thing coming out the Hellmouth.

Bad Girls - Simply Spectacular. I mean the whole ep. is decent, but its just the theory of two bad ass slayers!

Consequences - Above Average. The dialogue between Angel and Faith is memorable.

Doppelgangland - Below Average. Although Buffy does look quite fetching at the end when she fights in the Bronze. And I like the notion of the Council testing the Slayer's and it being some sort of a competition.

Enemies - Above Average. Its pretty good, especially the whole "Psych" thing.

Earshot - Simply Spectacular. Buffy's display of impressive gymnastics in the episode is enough of a reason just to watch!

Choices - Eh, Average? I love them meeting in the cafeteria, and Synder being all "drug control".

The Prom - Simply Spectacular. Aw, the gang gets all dressed up, Xander buys Cordy a dress (schweet) and Buffy looks hot and gets an shiny toy.

Grad. Day Part 1 - Above Average. Great fight scene.

Grad. Day Part 2 - Average. I love Buffy letting Angel drink her, and her destroying practically everything in her way while he does, but the rest of the episode lacks to me.

Well, that honestly didn't take that long!

So many of these I completely disagree with. Sorry!

Re:

Season 3 is my personal fave too. I do agree with Jill Valentine that the casting was superior in that season. There were only 3 episodes that didn't frost my cookies quite so sweet, Dead Man's Party, Band Candy, and Gingerbread. Don't get me wrong, they weren't awful. I just think there are better episodes. : pout2:

I like Band Candy... And I think that Gingerbread, though the execution was a bit flawed, genuinely had something important to say, more importantly something worthwhile, unlike Beer Bad, where the entire episode is rendered pointless in the two word title. MOO, and their behavior was unnervingly close to reality, and if you don't believe that, I recommend checking out the CAPalert film screening website, where the reviewer stormed out of Matilda (Yes, that Matilda) in disgust because, among other appalling cinematic mind crimes, it featured "an adolescent counseling an adult authority figure" and - Saints Preserve Us! - "Supernatural Powers" He went on to describe Matilda as - and I quote - "yet another example of the subliminal style of child abuse from the entertainment media".

(Be warned, this site will make you angry http://www.capalert.com/capreports/matilda/matilda.htm)

In many ways I prefer MOO. You can extinguish a fire, but idiocy is largely incurable.

Back to the general area of the topic, I really, really liked Dead Mans Party. Each of the Scoobies deserved their chance to air their respective beefs, and it was a far more sensical row than later -*coughS7cough*- arguements. Also (See screen name for details) I'm very fond of zombies.

If for nothing else, Dead Mans Party deserves a viewing purely for SMG's comic timing when she calls her mother to tell her Pat is there.

(Just occured to me - How the feck did the Summers family explain the middle aged lady with a shovel in her head on the lawn?)

My first reaction is to agree with Percy, but let's check it out. Wanna play a polling game with me?

Did everyone notice, The Slayer has kindly collected all the Season 3 episodes for us.

All you have to do is click the reply button, delete the quote tags and unnecessary text, and voila, you can rate.

So this is what I suggest: A rating system from 1 to 10. 1 being your least favourite Buffy of all time, and 10 your favourite Buffy episode of all time.

Basically when you give it a 9 or a 10 you're saying it's one of your 10 favourite episodes of all time.

I have to say that even though there are no Hush or OMWF episodes this is a very good season. Moreover it's perhaps the most important Buffy season. After two kind of similar seasons the show could've easily just became flat and well like Charmed. Every season and episode is just like the next and there's nothing new and original about it, but with season 3 BtVS took the narrow path and became something highly original. Don't get me wrong the show was original before this season, but it could've easily just kept to the old concept. But with the introduction of Faith (I've always liked her, but now I'm starting to like her not just because of the character she was but because of what she did to the show) and the firing of Giles made sure that the show wouldn't just come to a standstill. This was the season the characters grew. And the kind of soap like intrigues of the first two seasons developed into drama, but still it kept it's original feel. Ok I'm just babbling here, feel free to question my mindless rambling.

Dead Man's Party - 2 (Um yeah I really thought well blah. everyone's mad at Buffy and then there a bunch of dead people that crash the party. big whoop vamps are dead originally too or have we forgotten. it was a sort of been there, done that type of thing in my book)
