I totaly one hundred percent agree. I especilly love watching season seven then diving straight into the first episode. I cant help but smile beacuse its like you see the characters then and you can see how much they change plus everyone is so innocent then its light and its fun a really good episode on its own anyway. So finally to all the season one chritics out there plaese watch AGAIN !!!
I have to say that I'm not such a fan of WttH/tH. It just didn't click with me. Angel's silly, the vampires are far too campy, and it was all a bit too So-Cal for me. That's not to say I dislike the episodes, but I'd place them pretty low overall.
I recently re-watched season one, and I was left a little cold after the pilot. It's understandable, of course, that some of the actors hadn't found their voice yet - and more importantly, the writers hadn't found the characters. I'm thinking especially of Xander here, but the others were all (at least to me) less...real. It was too bubblegum. That's not to say there weren't some great performances right off the bat. Over-eager Giles was a pleasure to watch, and Joyce was Joyce from day one. But I felt the episodes were too slow, and too silly - probably because this was bouncing off the back of the movie, however remotely.
But then I watch Witch and I forget I was ever disappointed.
