"Normal Again"

I thought this was by far the best ep of the season. The idea of it is just facinating. Do you guys think Buffy really is crazy and locked up some where creating this huge universe?

On a side note, I thought the commentary was a bit disappointing. However I'm going to cut them some slack b/c they said it was the 1st time they ever wrote/directed a Buffy ep, so I'm sure this is the 1st time they're giving a audio commentary to a episode DVD.
 
Normal Again is one of my personal faves too.

Ever consider this? What if insane Buffy is neither real nor a hallucination. What if insane Buffy is an alternate reality? What if the power of the Glarghk Guhl Kashma'nik demon is to bridge alternate realities that are similar, but different?
 
imagine if buffy ended after that ep normal again, and the outcome was different, and it turned out that she had been in a mental institution all along.
 
Yeah, that would've been a real trippy last episode. But I'm glad they didn't do that, it really would've ticked me off.
 
I guess it would be kinda funny if she had made it all up, but I think I'd be angry if it ended that way.
Loved that episode btw. That's the one where Dawn is hurt cos she isn't in Buffy's other world right?

Yeah that's the one. I like any episode where they keep you thinking in the end. Not all the time tho or I think my head would explode, lol.
 
I always say that of all of the Buffy episodes, this one seriously disturbs me the most. It's the one I can never let go, that I can never really 100% for sure make my mind up on.

I guess Joss and team got what they wanted! 😀
 
It kinda reminds me of the movie Total Recall in that in the movie you didn't know at the end if it really happened or if it was an implanted memory. The same applies here because just because Buffy chose the world we have all come to know, doesn't mean that maybe its her escape from the reality she lives in, a mental institution.
 
I loved this episode. It really made you think, and wonder if maybe it was all actually true and Buffy really is crazy...hmmm
 
This ep was one of the reasons I think S6 is the best of Buffy. And the performances were first rate too...Buffy in the straight jacket, her parents' anguish...all well done! Star Trek: DS9 did two eps with the same theme, with Sisco as a writer for a sci-fi mag in the '20s, then as the same writer in an asylum, directing the story. It really made you sit and think a while too!
 
It was a random episode but quality at the same time, I would of been furious if Buffy ended that way!
 
i loved how they had the balls to end it in the asylum and it all being an halluncination 😀

this and Once More with Feeling are the only eps keeping season 6 worthy of inclusion in the buffy verse 😛
 
The thing that struck a home run with this episode was that the reality that Buffy and the gang live in does look like it could've been created by some psycho in a nuthouse. Xander described it best, while he was trying to assure buffy that this was a real universe. He said something along the lines of "How can this not be reality? Just because there are vampires, demons, and hellmouths?" and then he realizes what he just said and has second thoughts about it. Brilliant Episode. I'm just upset they never answered the question after the series ended.
 
I LOVED everything about this episode...

My personal favourite thing is how they explained Dawn, in Buffy's mind...the need for a...something...I cant remember what the hell it was...but about Buffy completely re-wiping the whole 'reality' and stuff...

This is exactly what I always thought, and the demon opened up some sort of worm hole or something where she is able to exist in both realities as the same person

I agree, it would explain a lot.. But do you think it matters..? Since Buffy is fictional, does it matter if the reality in the show is fake..? If the reality we see in the show isn't the real reality of the show?
