Edward Norton has admitted that he would like to see his Incredible Hulk role cast as the villain in The Avengers.

The actor, who portrayed the titular character in the 2008 movie, previously declined to comment on reprising his part for the proposed superhero team-up project.

However, the 40-year-old has now revealed that he wants to be involved in the Marvel Comics film adaptation.

He told MTV: "He kind of was, not in the books, but in the comics there was always a tension between the rest of the superhero community and he was always this problem.

"They treat him as this problem. I don't know, I think that's a fun way to go with it."

Incredible Hulk director Louis Leterrier recently stated that he would like four Avengers movies to be released at the same time.

I really like that idea. Bring on WWH!

I don't want him to be the main baddie, but yeah, definitely needs to be in the film. I'm glad Norton wants to stick with the role.

No, don't think he should be the Big Bad but deffo the big anti-hero that he is! Even as Bruce, just the idea of Norton and Downey going at it is very interesting.

Yeah, that'll be fun. Them, and Sam Jackson, "ScarJo", the Hemsworth dude...

I'd like to see Hank Pym and the Wasp in there too, but I don't know if that's in the cards.

Oh damn.. as long as Captain America has balls I will be happy. But yeah.. it's deffo something never really done in major motion pictures before. Rather exciting. (and that was such a geek thing to say!)

Seems like we're gonna have to get some casting news on Cap pretty quickly here. Thor is almost completely cast at this point and these two films are coming out within a couple of months of each other.
