EXCLUSIVE: FOX TO BENCH FRIDAY SWEEPS LINEUP FOR REPEATS
By Brian Ford Sullivan (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- Less than a week after announcing its November sweeps schedule (read the story), FOX is already making some changes.

Network sources have confirmed Friday entries "Brothers," "'Til Death" and "Dollhouse" will all go on hiatus after their October 23 airings. A rebroadcast of "House's" two-hour season premiere will sub in for the night on October 30 with additional repeats of "House" and "Bones" taking over for the rest of the month.

"Dollhouse" will then return with back-to-back originals starting at 8:00/7:00c on December 4, 11 and 18.

As for the comedies, "Brothers" will permanently shift to Sundays at 7:00/6:00c starting November 8 with back-to-back originals also set for December 13 and 27. No return date for "'Til Death" however was given.

To recap:

8:00/7:00c - "Brothers"
8:30/7:30c - "'Til Death"
9:00/8:00c - "Dollhouse"

I'm really scared for Dollhouse, someone hold me.

I think I've given up hope for season 3. Kind of annoying that we will have to wait for the rest of season 2.

What the hell?! Why put Dollhouse on hiatus because of poor ratings? Even more so after the UK has literally just had season 2 start on Sci-Fi surely that means that they'll do the same. Viewers will lose interest and by the time it comes back half of them will have moved on. Bad move.

I've been assuming for a few weeks now that this 13 episodes would be the end, at least as far as TV is concerned. (Joss is apparently toying with the idea of a comic or graphic novels.)

It sounds like Joss & Co. have been making the same assumption, and they've been considering episode 2.13 the series finale, with an opening to continue just in case.

I'm not surpised they're taking their lowest-rated show off the air for Sweeps. Sweeps is the time when ratings are used to determine how much the network can charge for commercial time, so all that matters is getting high ratings. Low-rated shows almost always go on hiatus during sweeps.

I'm just happy the network has committed to showing all 13. Doubling them up in December has the unfortunate air of "burning off" episodes, but it does show that they're willing to give two hours a week to the show rather than one, and it means we'll be caught up by Christmas.

The thing that bothers me most about this is that the October 23 episode is part one of a two-parter, and we'll have to wait more than a month for part 2 (Summer Glau's first episode). I really thought they'd air Summer's episode on the 30th before going on hiatus.

Yes, BUT, possibly by doubling up it could serve to attract new viewers; two hours for three weeks, and it would also allow the newbies who are unfamiliar with the continuing storytelling to get it in a two-hour junk rather than just an hour at a time.

It might also help that the episodes will begin airing at 8 pm rather than 9. More people will still be home at 8 on a Friday evening.

Exactly.. it may not be such a bad thing... in addition to those that tune in, imagine the numbers for downloads, having two episodes available at the same time each week, it seems that would boost numbers there as well, because you wont download one and not the other, whereas before you may forget (or not care) to download after a week. I think it could be a boon to the audience numbers.

Goodness gracious! (haha! Get it?? Belle Chose?)
I am trying to hide my sadness by being funny.

*runs off to a corner to cry*

I was really crossing my fingers for dollhouse. Oh well, we might as well see what happens before completely giving up hope......right?

That stinks, but I read a post at whedonesque by Joss and now I feel a little better. What happens, happens: so until we've got solid news about Season 3 I'm just going to enjoy the anticipation of the next few episodes. I was surprised to get a season two, so maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised again. 🙂

(In the meantime I'll be happily plugging Dollhouse wherever possible! 😉 And here's the link to Joss' response in case anyone would like to check it out: Whedonesque : Comments on 22111 : The TV Addict pens )

Damn, maybe if Fox wasn't so stupid they'd put it on Monday or Tuesday. Or, hell, even Sunday! I wonder if it's even crossed their minds that MAYBE the reason why Dollhouse isn't getting many viewers is because it's on Fridays! I mean, seriously, what can they expect from that crappy of a timeslot.

Sucks that we have to wait a full month and a week for DH to come on again. But in the end, it was a fun 2 seasons and great cast. Doubt we will get a S3 unless another miracle happens. Maybe Joss should try to shop the show to theCW...(if it could keep the same ratings it would be a good fit for the network)

Man........I was so looking forward to Summer Glau. 🙁 Not I have to wait like a month...
