This season had some great episodes, but was not the greatest season in terms of storyline...Riley and the initiative left much to be desired.

watched three episodes so far, liked the premiere but the other two were not very good. The new setting will take some getting used to.

Guess I was spoiled with Buffy, Giles and The Scoobies all being in one primary location most of the time.

Oh well, I'll hope for the best.
 
Really disagree.

I love season 4.
The idea is perfect for the season.

Riley bores me, but thats because I don't care for corn fed Iowa boys...unless its Captain Kirk!

The Initiative is a fantastic idea, not truly well realised, and makes perfect sense as the world of government would know about the demon threat and try to either use or subdue it.

I would quite happily watch a spin off of the Initiative and probably enjoy it.

LOVE the initiative spinoff idea. Y'know, even all the initiative haters out there would probably watch and love it too.

I didn't like the idea of Adam as the villain. I think Maggie Walsh could have pulled it off herself better, and more intimidating.
Riley is the season's bump on the road. I do not like him.
 
This is my favorite season, to me easily as good as s2 or 5. I loved the Initiative, even Adam was ok although i agree Walsh would have been better had she stayed around. I also think many of the characters had their best season here, like Anya, Spike, Giles and even Oz for his 7 episodes. I even liked WTWTA and doomed. And who doesnt love Hush, Who are you and Restless?
 
I hated season 4 when I first watched it. Being a bangel fan I could not get over the fact that there was no more Angel in the show. Having watched it since, I realise it is a good season. Its a complete twist on what we, the viewers, were used to. Buffy at college is different from Buffy in high school and its shown straight away in the first episode when Buffy is trying to patrol and everyone is walking about. I like that we get to see the human reaction to demons. The fact that, outside of Slayers and the Watchers Council, there was an army in place trying to deal with the supernatural. They do an awful job at it, but i think thats the point of this season.
 
I don't rate this season as highly as I do the others, but when I think about it there are some really awesome episodes. 'This Year's Girl', 'Who Are You?' 'Doomed', 'Hush' 'A New Man' 'Something Blue' plus others I probably can't remember. Its the good episodes that help me forget that 'Superstar' is also part of this season!

I do like the idea of the Initiative. I think it was quite plausible that the government would be aware, considering the police etc were aware of the weird going-ons in Sunnydale!

I do have to agree with Perny about Maggie Walsh. She would have been an awesome villain, I hadn't thought about that before!
 
Lol i Looooved Superstar. To me ss and Harsh light were Jane Espensons best written episodeds and they both happened in s4 🙂 go Jane

You think so? I haven't yet seen the whole of season 4 yet. I'm collecting the Angel Buffy Collection so the last Buffy episode i saw was "Doomed". I kind of like this season. Its got a fresh feel to it. Am i correct in thinking this seasons Big Bad is a robot called Adam?

Maybe they should have cast Kirk to play Riley 🙂

I had to have a think about this. I always think I hate season 4, probably because I HATE Riley and don't like how they did the initiative. But when I think about it it was an awesome season!
Fear, Itself, Something Blue, Hush, A New Man, This Year's Girl, Who Are You, Superstar, New Moon Rising, The Yoko Factor (Just the end scene with the big fight!) & Restless

That's 10 episodes that I love...okay, maybe I do like season 4...=D

I always have mixed feelings on season four. I just rewatched that season last week and I think I enjoyed it more this time and Restless is in probably my top 10 of episodes but, I just wasn't intimidated by Adam. I had no real concern that he was going to do any big time damage. I guess it's just a middling season for me. I don't love it or hate it. New Moon Rising is a really good one too . . . and obviously Hush. I also enjoy "man of leisure" Giles. You know, I spelled leisure wrong and right clicked it to get the correct spelling and the first word on the suggested list was pleasure. Which made me giggle. 🙂
