I wanted to share a funny thing that happened at my house last night...
Last month when my husband got his iPhone, he gave his iPod to our 9-year-old daughter. We saw no reason for the iPod to just sit in a drawer, not being used, and she has proven to be very responsible with other electronics that she's owned, so he gave the iPod to her and we set some ground rules for her. I told her "No downloading anything unless it's free, and nothing nasty, ok?" She agreed and went on her merry way.

Last night she was reading a new iBook she downloaded and all of a sudden she says "Um, Mom? This book has a bad word in it." I checked; it was the F word. On the first page of the book! I started flipping through the book and was immediately overcome with a slew of emotion: shock, embarassment, anger... But then I burst out laughing. You see, I had to laugh about it because... My 9-year-old daughter had accidentally downloaded an erotica novel.

Bless her heart; she thought she had downloaded one of the books from the popular "Monster High" series she loves so much, but she had downloaded a sex book by mistake! I was kinda mad, shocked, and embarassed that she read some of it, but I also found hilarity in the situation... When you're a parent, you have to learn to laugh at stuff like this. 😉

Has anything like this ever happened to you? How did you handle it?

Whoops! haha. Glad you are able to see the funny side of it, you're a good mum :)
OMG lol... Yer my daughter caught an episode of Futurama yesterday and of all the episodes it was one about sex!! They kept hinting at it so much so I was dying a little inside but thankfully it all went over her head as she would not let me change channel lol...everytime I tried it was screaming fits over wanting to watch the cartoon with the funny one eyed girl in it!!

LOL!! Oh no!!
Luckily my kids are too young to understand any of that stuff yet (and I plan to keep them FAR away from it until they are much older!) but Myles has taken my iPhone and deleted, rearranged and regrouped apps before. He is no longer allowed to play with it!

Yeah, I've had that problem with Caitlyn, my 4-year-old... It takes me forever to figure out what she deleted!

My 1 year old sister made an album called "Itchak" and actually put photos in it on my mom's phone...haha
LOL! I love that story. So funny.

I don't have anything like that, but one time my two year old niece got ahold of my cell phone and changed ALL of my contacts to random letters. My contact list looked like someone had just hardcore fangirl'd on it LMAO. Still not quite sure how she managed THAT one.

I gotta say, it shows what a lovely girl you have bought up Britters that she was honest enough to tell you immediately and trust you to make the call. I don't have many kiddies around me but when I was younger (about 10 or 11ish) I once accidentally logged onto a live chat channel where people where outwardly having cyber sex. I did not tell my parents but also never went back there haha. I was horrified about the things people wanted to do o each other!! ("But that's where poo comes out of!!")

LMAO OMG "But that's where the poo comes out of!!"
One of my son's favorite songs is ZZ top's tube steak boogie. :/ apparently it came on the radio when he and my mom were in the car together about a year or so ago, and he decided it was one of the best songs ever. While I love ZZ top, it's not appropriate for a 5 year old to be singing. He has no idea what it means, lol!

My siblings and I were once being told a joke about a French student involving a zerbra - or "ze bra", if you will. 😀
After the joke was told and we were all laughing, my much younger brother siad, "What's a bra?"
I'd had no idea he hadn't known! I told him that it was a special kind of hat. 😀

I have an older sister and a much younger brother (ten year age gap). One day when my brother was about four or five, he was playing in my bedroom, which I shared with my sister, Valerie, and he suddenly got very quiet. I looked up from whatever I was reading, and asked him what he was doing.

He was sitting on the floor by her bed, where he'd discovered a box of tampons she kept under it. He looked up at me with this adorably shocked and devastated look on his face, and said, "Val smokes!"

He thought they were cigarettes. So he jumped up and ran downstairs to show my mom, while I fell off the bed laughing. I could hear her trying so hard not to laugh as she told him "no, those aren't cigarettes, honey, go put them back."

It was so adorable...his little face! He was so upset that his big sister was sneaking cigarettes. hee.

Poor kid. We still tease him about it. 😀
