Noticing stunt doubles

I was just wondering if most people notice the stunt doubles in BtVS. I mean, in the podcast I've been listening to, they always complain about stunt doubles.

The only time I've ever noticed the SD is with the dinner lady in Earshot. That was just ridiculous.

So, am I just luckily unobservant, or do only a few of you notice the SD's?

Nope I never notice them, unless someone has pointed it out to me, then I try to look for them, and usually still don't see them! 😛
 
I quite often notice Spike's stunt double because he's massive compared to James! And they never seem to slick the SD's hair back, so it's really noticeable. Episodes off the top of my head that I always notice the SD... Intervention when the Buffybot throws Spike onto the top of the sarcophagus; Crush when he's fighting with Harmony and Dru; What's My Line - the fight in the church; Sleeper - fighting with the One Bite Stand. He's really noticeable and I can't unsee it whenever I watch. :/

You know, to be honest, I can't think of a single time when I've noticed a stunt double in place of an actor on Buffy or Angel. One thing I did notice a few times though is when they enlist a stunt man to play a demon or monster in an episode who just clearly doesn't have much acting skill. I could tell a few times that they didn't want to shell out the money to hire an actor and a stunt person, so they cut the corner a little bit and went with the guy who could perform the stunts. That didn't always translate well when the demon they were playing had to speak. But those were pretty isolated times.

Thinking a little more about it now, I think they did a really good job of integrating stunt doubles into the show. Seriously, beyond stunt people who were forced to act, I thought they did a great job.
 
Sometimes I do but the worst for me is "earshot" the dinner lady like really!!!!!!! And in school hard with spike it looked nothing like him >.<
 
It's noticeable sometimes, but it doesn't really bother me unless the double is of completely the wrong gender and/or build.
 
I have to say i have only ever noticed them twice, once in earshot with the dinner lady and then in passion when buffy's fighting angel at the factory, but now you've mentioned it i shall be on the hunt to notice them when i next watch it.
 
Alright, I went back and looked at "Earshot" since everyone was talking about it, and upon second glance, yeah, the stunt double is pretty apparent.
 
David's stunt double in Becoming Part 2 totally ruined what should have been the greatest fight in all of the Buffyverse for me :/

I notice the stunt doubles a lot, but it never bothers me other than that one time...

In the episode where Glory finds out Dawn is the Key, Buffy picks her up and runs away. You can totally tell "Buffy" is a 6'3 dude that hits the gym 5 days a week xD.
 
I never used to notice the stunt doubles, but ever since someone mentioned a year or so ago about the stunt doubles, now I see them every time... It sucks, it totally ruins the moment. 🙁
 
Sigh, I always read about horribly noticeable stunt doubles, but I never notice. Not even on my rewatches.
 
I generally get too absorbed in the action to notice, or even really care, where the featured actor steps out and the stunt man steps in during the initial, or maybe even the second or third viewing. After that, I start watching for stunt doubles, hair styles, clothing (especially shoes. Buffy switches from Sarah's usual medium high heels to flat soles quite often during the action scenes, a dead giveaway that someone else is doing the kicking or taking the falls.)
 
I often notice the doubles because of the hair. The hair sometimes looks a little bit fake or just different form the actor's hair, but most of the time the scenes are shot so you don't see the doubles' faces. In Beauty and the Beasts you can see the face of Seth Green's stunt double when the monster guy (I can't recall his name right now) throws him on the stairs in the library.

Oh god I can't really remember, I'm guessing season 2...the gang is driving towards some innocent victim that Cordelia just saw in a vision when suddenly she realises that they didn't turn at the right crossing. Angel then does a U-turn and you can clearly see that Gunn, Angel and Wesley (I think they were all in the car) are all stunt doubles but you can also see that there's a poorly made dummy instead of Cordelia! 😀
 
I really notice Buffy's stunt double in season 1 because the woman has a much bigger rack than SMG.
 
I always notice the stunt doubles. It used to be really distracting but I'm mostly over it, haha.

Dawn-carrying Buffy always makes me laugh, as do the already-much-mentioned man in Becoming and the lunch lady from Earshot.
