Episode: no particular episode, but "Real Me" and "Forever" might be interesting to see the interaction between Dawn and Buffy. (And maybe "Who are you"/"This year's girl" for body-swapping themes)

Discussion Questions:

1) After seeing the discussion about how Dawn reacted to Buffy after Joyce's death, it got me thinking - Would you have liked to see an episode where Buffy and Dawn did a freaky friday and swapped bodies and had to walk a proverbial mile in each others shoes?

2) If you do then in which season do you think it would have fitted the best?

3) If you don't then why?

YES. I never thought about that till I read your post, but YES. It would've given me much more sympathy and respect for Dawn, provided she handled being in Buffy's body well, and she wouldn't have whined so much since she would know everything that Buffy had to go through. There would have been a lot of chances for humour--Dawn trying to slay in an actual Slayer's body, being super strong; Buffy going back to high school; Dawn encountering Spike in Buffy's body, whichever season it might be. Of course, there would have to be some way for Buffy and Dawn to have to keep the body switch a secret from the Scooby Gang--it wouldn't be any fun otherwise.

2) If you do then in which season do you think it would have fitted the best?

Not S6--Buffy was way too depressed then for such a fun body switch, and Dawn in Buffy's body when she was involved physically with Spike? Ick. Anytime during S5 would be nice. And early S7, before the Potentials, but still post-crazy Spike.

Oh totally agreed, the thought of Dawn in Buffy's body while physically involved with Spike kind of made me shiver. so wrong. Ick indeed!

On the other hand, in Season 5, when Dawn had such a crush on Spike and he first realized his feelings for Buffy...

One of Willow's infamous spells gone wrong, letting Dawn meet the man of her dreams and Buffy be able to have just a single day when she wasn't the Slayer, could make it happen. I'm sure that Spike would have been more than happy to cooperate, as long as he didn't know what was really happening and Buffy and Dawn for some reason couldn't let anyone know (maybe a condition of the spell would be that if they told, the switch would become permanent, but if no one realized what was happening, it would reverse itself within 24 hours)

Having Angel make his annual visit to Sunnydale at the time that it happened would just put icing on the cake.

Yes! This has never occured to me, but now that I think about it, it seems perfect.

I agee that the Middle of Season 7 would work well.

(Add to my original post, "One of Willow's infamous spells gone wrong, letting Dawn meet the man of her dreams and Buffy be able to have just a single day when she wasn't the Slayer, could make it happen. Even better, Angel could get drunk and blurt out the events of "I Will Remember You" to who he THINKS is Dawn, bemoaning the fact that he gave up his one chance for real happiness with his first and greatest love only to watch her chase his worst enemy around "like some silly little school girl with her first crush."

Lmao! That's kind of hilarious.

Honestly I feel that if we had gotten to see Buffy and Dawn switch bodies we might have actually gotten to learn something about Dawn, or she could have gotten some insight in Buffy's life (might've reduced the whining) Although I kind of feel like season 7 would have been a good setting for it and she was pretty non-whiny then already.

Then again had they done it in season 5 maybe Dawn would have better understood the pressure Buffy was under to protect her

Another question, had they swapped bodies then - would Buffy have been the key or would the key elements have been locked to Dawn's physical body?

I think Dawn and Buffy swapping bodies would be a very cool idea. Buffy would have to adjust to being a "normal" teenage girl who gets treated like a kid a lot of the time, and Dawn would have to adjust to having all the strength and responsibilities of the Slayer... I think it would be really interesting. I think it would have fit better into Season 6 than anything though.

It just makes me shiver because of the physical intimacy between Buffy and Spike during that season. I couldn't handle seeing Spike kissing Buffy who is Dawn...

OH hell, I didn't think about that... Yowza. Maybe not. That would be sooo gross. 🙁
