The Bronze
Rogue Demon Hunter
There's an election coming up in the United Kingdom shortly and our nuclear deterrent system Trident has been the focus of some debate. There's only one large enough party in my area worth voting for as an alternative to the establishment parties we have at the moment but I'm not sure I agree with their policy to abandon the nuclear deterrent idea altogether. I don't want to see these weapons ever used. I don't want any more made. They're no use at all in defending against extremism or much else in all honesty. However I can't help but think that while we have them available they must act as a deterrent to an invasion from another nation. My thinking being that I can't picture the USA invading Iraq or Afghanistan if they had nuclear weapons, similarly I couldn't picture Russia invading a nuclear capable Ukraine.
So I'm interested in hearing peoples opinion on this because as much as I like the idea of nuclear disarmament I'm not convinced it's sensible given that you can't really trust anyone in the long run.
