I see your side, but I think this place wouldn't keep a lot of people's attention if it was all niceness and fluff all the time.

Its not a matter of maturity, politics is the one thing that links every single person on the planet, even if they don't realise it.

Politics i something everyone should be passionate about and if that does lead to all out disagreements, well the MODS bring it back.

I have no issue with Politics being discussed here and/or people getting frustrated, angry and/or annoyed.

Besides, as Looking Glass says, if this place was all nice then most people would have left.
This place has the right amount of niceness/contention to make it a fun place to visit.

He openly opposed the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, when most of his fellow politicians - including Democrats like Hillary Clinton - supported Bush.

Of course, I don't know how he now views the war.


Obama is not "blacker" than Bush. He's browner.

Interestingly, refering to a black man as brown is considered offensive.

JCC was using the correct term in his thread title.

I don't necessarily agree with him but 'blacker' is more appropriate than 'browner'.

my best mates black and he doesnt find it offensive to be called brown, or browner.

Oh, you really have no idea about the politics, religion, and big issue discussions that go on here. It really does keep me coming back. When you're in a heated discussion, you can't wait to see what the opposing side says in defense, just so you can further beat them down. Or keep yourself afloat. Whichever the case may be.

I especially love trying to get anything through Al's thick skull. 🙂

"Brown"s are generally of Mexico or Central/South American descent, so it's wrong.
 
I don´t like politics threads... they all leads to nothing. Never saw someone changing their mind, so.. we are all repeating ourselves again lol

I still think it´s all about culture, not racism or politc view it self. We, from outsite US, have different opinions... we tend to see the internacional side, for exemple the wars, the world economy.. and yes, two days and geat news, he is doing fine.
Now, for americans... I can´t say anything for sure.. I don´t really know the country problems :/
 
I'm going to have to admit, Sarah Palin doens't impress me much. But hey, to each it's own.

And honestly, I can talk about politics with people at school, or at work, or with my mom, or whatever. I come on here so I can engage in intelligent discussion about the Whedonverse...it's like my little escape from real life 🙂

Plus, I'm not too concerned about other people's politcal views to be honest, and I also don't really feel the need to voice my own, or prove anything. I know what they are and what I believe in, and that's that, you know?

I do enjoy watching people fight about politics though 😉

I don't know the details of why he has done this (and I mean the details that only about 10 people on the entire planet have, not what we know ifrom the press) but did you support this kind of action under Bush?

Basically are you still fighting your "he is the same as Bush' stance or attacking him?

Personally, I have no issue with something like this because I know I don't know what he knows.

Now, I need to go have a bath in the strongest bleach I can find for even remotely defending Barack, I feel so dirty.

I'm fighting the 'he is the same as Bush' stance. I'd lose a testicle before defending a Republican.

But probably not both, I don't claim to having integrity in abundance, just a bit of it.

I'd like to think that political opinion goes further than allegiance to one of the two monopolozing US parties that are the same shop with different windows.

Unless you are in fact claiming O'Bama IS a Republican and you were trying to be coy about it... and your strange quote did not help.
