Wow, we got some very interesting posts in here! But lets mix it up here for a second.

You ready?

Warren does miss his shot on Tara, but hits Willow instead, causing her to die(not that this would really happen, but I would like to know your thoughts on this).

How do you think Tara would have reacted? Xander? Do you think Dawn would have been so deeply affected with Willow's death as she was with Tara's? Would Buffy have survived?

I think it would have been really interesting to see how Tara would have reacted (not that I would have wanted to lol) but I don't think she would go dark like Willow. We see the potential in Willow along time coming before she actually hits that point. I think Tara would have lost a lot of progress she made with Willow. I could see her reverting back to her more quiet reserved self, maybe even giving up magic.

I think Xander would have wanted to kill Warren. Buffy probably would have stopped him once she was recovered. I don't think Dawn would have been as affected, she was so so close with Tara. She wasn't as close with Willow, close but not as close as with Tara. I think she would have still been so upset by it.

Tara losing interest in magic and reverting back to her sheepish days...interesting. Here is a thought: In 'Older and Far Away', Tara defended Willow against Anya for not using magic. Do you not think that Warren killing Willow would cause her to maybe lose her cool and at least try and avenge her death, or maybe try and do something about? Instead of crawling back under a rock?

I'd love to see Tara do that. You're right its possible she came along way since who she was originally. I can't see her taking a life though no matter what, I can't see Tara doing that. Maybe torturing? No I don't know if I could see her doing that either. But maybe she would do like some sort of spell to send him to an alternate dimension where he would spend eternity in space doing nothing being utterly bored lol okay now I think I'm rambling. I think I just see Tara as such a warm kind hearted person I dont want to think that anything could push her to murder. But maybe losing Willow could push her do something she'd never do otherwise. I just think with Willow there were so many signs of how far she would go long before Tara's death that it wasn't as surprising to see her go all the way.

Tara would have definitely been shocked, but I really doubt she would have gone crazy mad like Willow did. To be honest, that would have been awesome for her character development! *hides from all the Willow fans throwing rocks* I honestly have NO CLUE how someone sweet and mature like Tara would have reacted. The first thing she would have done is probably helping to save Buffy from her wound. After that she'd have went after Warren, but I doubt she'd have done anything like Willow did. Probably brought him to justice and that's it.

On the other hand... Xander would have been MUCH more pissed off if it had been Willow dying there. He would have most likely been the one going crazy. The thing though is that he doesn't have any magic at his disposal so I have no idea what he would have done to Warren.

Dawn would have been affected as well. She loved Willow a lot. I don't see that much of a difference with her relation with Tara. Someone close to her would have been dead, she'd be shocked.

Obviously Buffy would have survived. Because there's no way the main character is gone from her own show(lol 😛). No idea how they'd have saved her though. Maybe Tara would have finally used really strong magicks?

One thing is certain... There wouldn't have been any 'Dark Tara' if the events happened that way. 😉

Willow stopped doing magic, but there was no way she was going to keep it up. If you look at Willow's storyline as magic = drugs, then Willow's not going to kick her habit by giving it up cold turkey. Most people can't quit drugs just because they want to, they have to be physically and emotionally weaned off them. If they don't, they could relapse, bad. Such was the case with Willow. As much as the writers wanted to show that Willow was doing the right thing and kicking her habit, she was going to relapse. Tara's death did it. But, it didn't have to be Tara's death. Any emotional issue, big or small, would've caused Willow to retreat back to comfort of magic/drugs.

I definitely agree that Willow's storyline with using maybe was like using drugs. That seemed pretty clear in the show. Yet, even if she relapsed, I don't think it would have necessarily turned her into the dark Willow she was after Tara died. I felt like whenever Willow turned into "dark Willow," she was at her highest point while on magic/drugs because she was able to still use magic and not "get high," like in Tabula Rosa or Smashed. I just don't think Willow would have gotten that high again, causing her to turn into dark Willow, if Tara lived.

And, if you look at Willow's storyline as magic abuse being a metaphor for abuse of power, Willow wasn't going to be able to keep that up, either. For Willow to stop abusing magic she would have to realize she was doing it and why. Only by learning why Willow does the things she does would she ever deal with the problem. During S6, Willow realized she was abusing magic, but not the reason why. She only stopped using magic so her friends and her ex-girlfriend would continue to like her. She didn't stop because she thought it was wrong to raise people from the dead or violate your girlfriend---Willow's never expressed that she thought any of those things were actually wrong. And, just because Willow's stopped doing magic doesn't mean she's stopped abusing power. Because she doesn't realize what she's doing is wrong, she would have probably found a non-magical way to do it.

I always felt Willow was using too much magic at first because she thought it would help. For instance, she thought if she erased Tara's memory of their fight (which was wrong), they could move on easier. However, she didn't realize the serious consequences of her actions or how Tara would feel about it, especially after the whole thing with Glory. After she and Tara broke up, I felt Willow abused magic because she was depressed. The person she loved broke up with her and moved out. When she got high on magic, she was able to forget what had happened with Tara. After she nearly killed Dawn though, she realized she had to stop abusing magic because it could lead to serious consequences. She had to do it for herself and for those around her who became endangered.

I wonder if Tara would have tried to raise Willow from the dead though. Willow tried to do that immediately after Tara died. Even though she didn't have the same kind of Willow had, maybe she still would have made an effort.

I had never thought about that Tara trying to raise Willow from the dead. I mean, she was all for raising Buffy from the dead, but then she started to feel like it may have been the wrong thing to do, and that they were messing with a forces far to great to comprehend. But she did love Willow with all her heart, so maybe that would have been enough for her to actually go and try to use such powerful magicks?

Honestly as I have said in my previous post, Tara wasn't that kind of person. She wouldn't mess with things like that. Now, that's what we were used to with her. But since she was never faced with such a tragic death, she might have shown us a new side of her... Who knows! 😛

This is a bit off topic but: I like the idea of a Dark Tara though, I think she would have been sexier than Dark Willow 😛

ok on with the discussion!!!

Maybe. I think Tara certainly had the potential to do that. And she did have the resources with the Magic Box and all. 🙂 Although, now that I'm thinking more about it, she would need to find another urn of Osiris. If ebay doesn't work this time, maybe amazon, lol! 😀

I vote for craiglist. Sadly she'd probably get ripped off... 🙁

First off...*throws rocks at you, no, boulders, squashing you* I personally think that for the very little time Tara was on the show, she had developed more and more than anyone one else on the show in the exact same time frame.

Second of all, yes I do agree that Xander would have been way more pissed off if it had been Willow. Then he wouldn't ever have been able to do the yellow crayon speech.

Third...do I need to show you lonelyangel12's Tara/Dawn video for you to get an understanding of just how strong Dawn's relationship to Tara really was?

She definitely has the resources. Who's to say that she wouldn't have gone into the restricted section just like Willow did. I mean, she probably wouldn't have done exactly what Willow did, but maybe she could have found a different way of getting Willow back. As for the urn of Osiris, I don't think Amazon caries it anymore. They sold out, I checked. But I'm sure I can make one for her 😉

Darn it 😉 I figured that would be the next best shot, lol! But, if you can make one, go forth it 😀

Yeah, I never trust craigslist. Who knows if it would be authentic too, lol 😀

Ouch...

She has developed sure, you gave me a good recap of it 🙂 But she was never that kind of person. But obviously she didn't have her lover dies a sudden death. So who knows really...

There would be no yellow crayon speech since Willow would be dead.

And no you don't have to, I remember their scenes together, but I don't think it was THAT different from Dawn/Willow, outside from the fact they felt a bit like outcasts to the Scoobies.

I wanna see the Dawn/Tara video! Post a link? I love their closeness.

I wrote a really long post about my feelings on this, but then accidently deleted it. Bummer aye?

Basically, I don't think Willow would have gone dark or tried to save Buffy. Willow may care a lot about Buffy, but her feelings towards Tara were stronger then anything else in the world.

It would have been awesome to see Tara save Buffy from the gunshot wound with a positive white magic.

Can I just say again how angry I am that Tara got killed off? 🙁

Also, at your last comment...I would have killed to see Tara be the hero for once. I honestly would have preferred it if Willow was the one that got shot, so that we can see Tara bring her back with white magicks and see her save Buffy's life. Tara's death was far too sad and super powerful for it to have happen and then be forgotten about so easily and fast. Plus, Willow is a main character. If she got killed off, you know damn well Joss would have brought her back for real. I mean come on. He killed Buffy twice. Both times she came back. He could have done the same for Willow.

Hmm. Interesting question. Well, I don't think we can judge on that, because we don't know where would he be shot, and would it be so serious as in Buffy's case. But if he would get the same kind of injuries Buffy did he wouldn't make it without Dark Willow.

I still don't think Willow would go all vainy and stuff, because I think she was trigered by kind of life you feel only once in a lifetime.. and she came because that love was fading away.

I think that if Warren hadn't shot Tara, Willow would've been crazy mad but not up until the point of ending the world and not caring about her friends. I think her friends but more of anyone else Tara would have made her reason and made her understand vengeance wasn't part of her. Plus, Tara's physical presence..having her still with her would've helped a lot. I don't think Tara could ever be dark, it's just not her. One thing is to stand up for yourself and be independent and another is going crazy.

I agree with everything you said :D
If Xander had been shot I could see Willow seeking vengeance on Warren but like TaylorSwift said Tara would have made her see reason and stopped her. I dont think she would have gone as dark though. I think the main reason she goes dark when Tara dies is (aside from being completely and utterly in love with her) she had just gotten Tara back and given up Magic for her and then to lose her after just getting her back sent her over the edge. Like why should she give up magic when she cant have Tara now. Then it became why live, why let the world go on.

Willow taking it to the extreme lol
