They would . After all Giles could understand Anya a lot more then the others . Plus around Anya Giles could let out his Ripper side .
 
It sucks they never went with Buffy/Faith and even in the comics they had Buffy sleep with one of her students instead 😕
 
Buffy would have been better with Faith instead of Angel or Spike but then nobody had a happy ending in Buffy.

My choices for couples would have been Giles and Anya with these two there would not have been a need for the great dumbing down of Anya.
I read a fanfic story with Dawn and Tara that made me a believer of this couple outside of Tara as a substitute mother figure.
I would have liked a Wesley-Willow romantic relationship as an alternative to Wesley-Fred. Of all the potentials for Dawn the idea of an older Dawn and vampire Sam Lawson might be interesting.

The premise of Dawn with a vampire and using the Buffy-Angel love relationship would be very interesting.

I'm not mad at it... he is a snappy dresser, seems to be a gentleman with good manners and he has a lot of kittens to play with! I am sure it would all go swimmingly... until he tries to give her a hickey 😲
