Official Buffy AND Angel Spinoff Discussion Thread

Yeah they're guaranteed lots of viewers. (obv)

If they were that desperate for money, I'm sure they wouldn't mind.
Ah well.

This is Josh Whedon Universe. No one is 100% dead.

Actually, just like in the Family Guy universe, "you only get one," as revealed in "The Trial" (Angel 2:9), you only get one. So yes, Wesley could be brought back, but anyone who has already been resurrected magically, and then dies again cannot be brought back.

So did Angel die in Buffy Season 2 finale? Or just get stabbed through the guts and banished to a hell dimension? And was Spike ever "dead" when he was inside the amulet? Seemingly it matters.

But anyway, back on topic, I would like to see our trusting, awkward friend the Groosalugg, who walked away and disappeared without explanation of where he was going, struggle against vampires, demons, used car salesmen and scam artists on the mean streets of Chicago.

I would LOVE to see a Fanged Four spin-off, but with a twist.

Darla would be brought back as a vampire with a soul, and Spike would (for some reason) by forced to re- ensoul Dru to save her. The Fanged Four reunites, this time all with souls. They once again become unbeatable, but this time on the side of good. 😀

A live action spin-off would be awesome. But I really doubt it's ever going to happen =( Like peoples said, the actors/actresses are older now(which obviously would make sense for some of the characters, but make it less likely for them to accept).

I really don't think David Boreanaz would be interested at all to come back to the Buffyverse. James Marsters on the other hand, maybe... but vampires ain't supposed to grow older eh =P

I have huge doubts on SMG too. And without her, would Willow and Xander be as interesting?

Only thing I can see happening would be one of the younger slayers from BtVS, or some character from Angel(Groo spin-off???) having her/his own series with guest appearances from BtVS/Angel main cast.

Oh well, one can dream : grin :

After BtVS ended, There should have been a Faith/Spike spinoff. Faith and Buffy don't get along so Faith goes back to the East Coast. Willow somehow resurrects Spike, but instead of sticking around Buffy, decides to join Faith on a mutual quest to redeem themselves. That would have rocked. Buffy and Faith in Boston, or New York, or some place.

Now of course the cast is aging, and any spinoffs with them would have to be done with animation or cgi.

I think what I'd like to, actually, is another series set in the BtVS universe and produced by Whedon, but not involving any of the regulars (except in cameos). It could be about a cell of Slayers and Witches in the post Season 7 world, trying to maintain order in their zone of influence and rebuild the Watcher's Council. If we could just ignore the awful comic Season 8, I think it would work.

I definitely think a Faith spin-off would have been the best bet. Then everyone else could've appeared every now & then. But her character has so much depth & exploring her dark side even more as well as her past would've been so interesting. Including Spike would've been awesome too. I can dream. It would've been amazing!!!

There were tentative plans for a Faith spinoff when Season 7 ended, but Eliza supposedly didn't like the way that the series would be set up, so she did "Tru Calling" instead. She's said on several occasions since then hat if Joss offered her a good Faith script, she would be happy to reprise the role, so we can continue to hope, but as time goes by, those hopes begin to fade as the characters age.

A prime time animated show wouldn't have that program, however, and I'm sure that most of the actors would be more than happy to reprise their roles in that way. Even if they weren't willing or for some reason couldn't do it (almost certainly Sarah and David would be in that group) there are voice impersonators who would be more than happy to fill the roles.

Joss is always looking for new challenges, I think that an automated "Buffy" would do at least as well as the automated "Star Trek" series did back in the 70's, and, given the advances in technology, would look a WHOLE LOT better.

I'm most likely in the minority, but I don't want to see any new spin-offs from the SMG Era of Buffy and Angel, unless it's a prequel with new actors. I feel the actors are going to look to old now, and since Vamipres aren't supposed to age James Marsters and David Boreanaz are just going to look silly.

I love the idea of a reboot for a whole new generation, with all new actors, and some cameos from the SMG Era for older fans. But it MUST have Joss Whedon, it's not the same without him.

I agree with this... As much as I love the actors who played these roles we have grown to love, they're just too old to continue the story.

And I'm not completely opposed to doing a reboot, but without Joss I feel like it's ludicrous.

There could be a possible spin off where Angel is made human again in some way. I made a thread about a Buffy movie idea, and my idea in that was for Buffy and Angel to be together and maybe even have a family. The events or scenario could be set some years after the events of the finale episode in the series.

My idea for the movie and i suppose this fits in with this was for Angel and Buffy to be together, Giles to be back in England and he discovers some new evil ready to destroy the world, and he calls on Buffy and Angel to help, with other members of the Scoobie gang (Willow/Xander etc) and we can see how their lives went from the final episode.

But i'd like to see some sort of spinoff where Boreanaz and Gellar are playing Buffy and Angel and are together.

Spaithyria would make a good spinoff. Having Spike, Faith and Illyria, the three people who struggles most with the lines between good and evil to be cut off from all of the other ethical and "good" characters to fair on their own. It would take place in Cleveland, where there is a hellmouth. Faith's main story arc would be finding her place in the good fight, Spikes would be finding his place in the Spaithyria trio, and Illyrias main story arc would be finding her place in the world. So it's main themes are purpose and gray areas.

As to the people who think that James and David looking too old, I would rather have slightly unrealistic looks for them than no reboot at all

I like the idea of the Groosalug beign brought back, but as to "you only get one ressurection; DARLA DIED 4 TIMES. She was originally sired, then dusted by Angel, the anfter beign brought back Dru sired her again, then finally she staked herself to give birth to Connor.

I know there is a lot of Joss worship abound, but wouldn't a reboot with seasoned Buffy writers, just not Joss because he's busy, equal or surpass our expectations?

I'd imagine many fan favourites here weren't even written by Joss, for example a fav of mine 'The Wish' wasn't.

So a reboot with BtVS writers providing the script, Or even a movie loosely based on the 'Gatekeeper Trilogy' which is widely regarded as one of the best BtVS Novels.

What do you think, should I send out the bat signal?
