After sharing a lingering kiss with would-be Slayer Kennedy, Willow bafflingly transforms into Warren! Meanwhile, The Scoobie Gang is shattered when they discover clues that lead them to believe that Giles may be The First.

Pretty nice episode, loved spike and buffy going back to the Initiative (ah, memories) Willow/Kennedy/Amy/Warren storyline was kinda weird, but i liked it, specially for willow and kennedy, i'm liking her alot.

I wonder what happened to spike's chip, repaired or removed?

I also wonder what happened to certain axe near someone's head a few episodes ago, robson is alive... but giles' wasn't there anymore

I LOVED the episode!

Buffy teasing Willow was funny. "It's just tea!" LOL Buffy looked so misgivious(sp?) in that scene. It was cute.

Spike/Buffy moments were great! Love to see them getting along. I hope Buffy decides to take the chip out. Really no use for it now. His soul can replace that. Which is boring but whatever. I can't believe they gave Spike his soul back... that is so Angel. Anyway....

The "Ass-face" comment was hilarious. Even though I dispise Riley I was hoping he would show up. Reasons completely unknown to me. I'm glad he didn't though, I think that would have ruined the spike/buffy parts.

I actually thought Giles was TFE! I was on the verge of crying when they started touching him.. then I was laughing. Loved that scene. Giles cracked me up... "You think I'm evil if I bring a group of girls on a camping trip and don't touch them?"

The actress that plays Amy did an excellent job this episode! But the whole Amy thing.. what was that? I thought she was TFE but then she used magic on Kennedy. Can TFE do that? I mean Amy never touched anybody, she just used magic. I'm confused.

Awwwww the willow talking about tara scene.. I loved it. I was near crying. But I thought it was weird with Kennedy being right there. If that were me (Kennedy) I'd feel a little unwanted. But it turned out good.

LOVE the Willow/Kennedy relationship.. I hope there are many more kisses to come.

As for Warren I hope they never ever show him again! I can't stand the guy. Besides that he kissed Kennedy (sort of) and it was gross. yuck.

Amy wasn't the first, Willow slapped him and they were holding hands in the ritual... she is just mean...

something i forgot: LOVED Andrew thinking Warren was alive and touching Willow's boobs 🙂

The episode was pretty good. I liked the Willow storyline. It doesn't just abandon everything that she did. Now we know how she feels and such. Teary-eyed when Willow did her speech about how "we were meant to be forever". Spike's headaches looked hella painful, though I found it kind of funny when he was spazzing out while everyone was looking at Willow/Warren. Again, Andrew is hilarious. Loved the context in which Xander used "loser". And I loved, "Ghost doesn't work if you play it by yourself". Looking forward to the next few eps!

Also -- I loved how they filmed down in The Initiative caves w/ just Buffy and Spike's flashlights. It was a really cool way to show just how creepy and darks it was down there. I'm glad they didn't really have staged lighting for that, it would have taken away from it.

the amy storyline was a bit weird.. when did she place the hex on will, when will turned her away?
kennedy is so cool 😀 spunky and very very hot
too bad giles isnt the first. but next epp he'll have to explain why he didn't die AND kept the bringer from killing off robson.
hehe there was not a single potential in the epp. plus we didnt get to see the chinese girl.

Why am I so happy? Well no matter how nay the nay-sayers may get , this was top notch story telling. Did I get everything my little heart desired? No. But I got a whole lot. I didn't even mind Andrew too much.

A. Kudos to Ally and Adam. Flawless. And didn't Amy prove to be a dirty rat.
B. The Kennedy / Willow thing. So maybe I don't see the connection but I can acknowledge Willow's need to feel cared for and desirable, and Kennedy is comfortable in her sexuality so no problem there. A case might be made for them getting together rather quickly because well heck...end of the world as we know it vibes abound.
C. Buffy/Spike....Caring and something we've never seen before...RATIONAL. We've seen glimpses of that before, but now Spike feels more and more like a younger version of Giles/Ripper and Buffy seems to have changed into someone I could like. Right hard to do the full fledge snarky humor what with having your brain torn apart, and in Buffy's case standing by having your lover's (former?) brain being torn apart. And hey again see B for that added lanyape of end-of-the-world-as-we-know-it vibe for upping the wattage.
D. Giles, is well, Giles. Can anyone tell me why (other than time constraint) Giles and the crew didn't talk about what DID happen when the Bringer was about to chop his head off. If he overcame theBringer, why didn't he see to Robson. If he new Robson (the other Watcher) was still alive, why didn't he contact him and try to get him to help in the "slayer round-up"?
E. Hasn't anyone in Sunnydale heard about the sun being blotted out in LA? OK so that's not IN the episode but heck, shouldn't it be by now? If a telephone can reach Riley, can't it reach Angel Ivestigations?
F. Not too much Dawn, and what there was seemed in character. Kinda feel sorry for her that Andrew seems to attach to her as if she might be his buddy. Oh and LOVED the Anya remark in the car about an ex-demon, teenager , and two big geeks
See there is a reason for her to still be on the show. She's the only one left that gets real snotty lines.
Over all I give this an 8.5 rating.

A fantastic episode.

The editing between Warren and Willow bits was great. Especially at the end when they replayed the scene of Tara's death. fantastic acting... although.... EW! That kiss with Warren was totally and absolutely WRONG. Such a horrible kiss.

About time someone figured out that no one has really touched Giles. Nice of them to at least solve THAT bit of the mystery for us... that Glies is not the first. Of course, tehre are still a couple of questions to be answered about him, but I think we're safe on that account.

I felt so bad for Spike... he was getting pain and he didn't deserve it. That phone call with the "flower shop" was hilarious though. And the whole "Ass-Face" thing from Riley kicked ass. And you KNOW you thought that the initiative was there for a bad reason...

but ooooh.... Buffy's decision! And Spike's prolly unconscious! I hope she gets it taken out....

were there any clues on the trailer for next week's episode? I don't get them up here in Canada.

Oh yeah, that's right Willow did slap her. Forgot about that.

This episode was very strange, even for Buffy. By the time Amy announced herself as evil, I was just lost. When did she cast the spell? And she enrolled herself in that Wicca group, posing as a rehabilitated person because...? I was also shocked as hell that Willow can pop up a barrier spell in the blink of an eye.

I didn't like any of the dark Initiative scenes. They were way too dark. Instead of suspense, we got murky, confused fight sequences. The editing was absolutely awful at that point. Also, I think it's safe to say this season has passed its quota on anguished Spike scenes. They're getting repetitive, and they don't contribute much to the story at this point. It was very hard not to ride my fast forward button through all of that. And I have no idea how the Initiative can say that it's lethal to leave his old chip in. Lethal? Degrading, metallic circuitry isn't any of the lore books on how to kill a vamp.

I'm also noticing how the house has this weird vibe to it. I mean, they all just sit around and...do what exactly? I can't figure out why Anya is even there, how Dawn is making it through school, if Xander (or any of them) works...they all just lye comatose on the sofa. It's like this weird everlasting slumber party. That worked, having them all huddle together like that, when they were on the run from Glory at the very end of season 5, or when Dawn's wish was granted--but now it just makes them seem like this mismatched gaggle of stoners who veg out all day. They seem to have absolutely no purpose whatsover. I keep looking to see if there's a bong lying around somewhere. I know they're battling evil, the first evil no less, but seriously, the gang is lacking focus.

Anyway, despite my complaints, I guess it was all right. I liked it fair enough, and Kennedy seems able to hold a scene together. Maybe I should watch it again, because there was so much in this episode, that maybe I'm not getting the nuances of it...

I thought the episode was great. Loved the Willow/Kennedy
storyline. I thought the part where Willow slap Amy was pretty
funny. 🙂

I thought the part were Xander and the others attack Giles in the desert was also funny. 🙂

I enjoyed it, myself, although it left some loose ends.

I'm glad Giles turned out not to be the FE, but what really *happened* back then with the harbinger and the axe?

Did we ever find out where Chloe was, or the Chinese SIT that Giles was supposed to be picking up last time? Or was it just implied they were on the "camping trip"?

I thought the Amy-Willow hex concept was pretty good. Amy was being just too sweet and helpful to be true, when we all know she's a rat (so to speak). The exact form of the hex being determined by the victim's subconscious was a nice touch, too. They seemed to be setting Willow/Amy up as being analogous to Buffy/Faith at the end of S3. The big question for me is, how did Kennedy's kisses both trigger and end the hex?

And of course, will Buffy have Spike's chip removed or repaired?

I think one of my favorite moments (aside from Andrew hugging "Warren" and grabbing Willow in personal places as a result), was when they were driving to the retreat site to see if Giles really the FE. Anya made her comment about them being virtually helpless because they were only a teenager, an ex-demon, and *two* geeks, and Xander turned around and looked at Andrew in the back seat with horror. ("I'm supposed to be like *him*??")

The First: I have to agree with you on two points.

I was also confused as to how the chip would kill Spike. Drive him insane from the pain perhaps, but Kill him? I suppose perhaps by damaging his brain so much that there were no nerves left....

And yeah... they do just all seem to hang around the house. It must be boring... especially since there isn't much research they can do since there's relatively nothing ON the First. Does Anya have a job since Willow destroyed the Magic Shop? I assume Xander's still working though, since his company is building the school gym. Is Buffy still a counselor at the school? She was still doing it last week... And what in the WORLD ever happened with Principal Wood? The last we saw of him he was putting the shovel back and all. We STILL don't know why he buried Jonathan, exactly how much he KNOWS about Buffy, what side he's on... whether or not he's brainwashed...

good episode. it's in my nerdy top 5 for the season list

perhaps it will cause his head to explode

I think last nigh eppie was funny with Warren/Willow and Andrew touched Willows chest...thinking it was Warren also is Giles dead cuz I kinda got confused....I love Warren1!

First, glad to know that Giles isn't evil!! yay!! hehe😛 😛 What was up with Amy being Queen Bitch? Jealously makes a person do some crazy things. I felt so sorry for Willow at the end when she blamed herself for killing Tara. It was really sad. Anyway, good ep. Can't wait until next week!!😀 😀

Oh I forgot to mention this thing that's been bothering me about this ep. Okay, so Amy's hex makes Willow's unconscious mind turn against herself. How did she know what gun Warren used, or where he bought it, or what he said when he shot Tara? Willow was upstairs with Tara when Warren said, "You think you can just do that to me?". In fact, Willow didn't even hear the gun shot when it happened, so there's no way she could have heard his words. Maybe Buffy told her later, but still, Willow even had the enunciation down, his pattern of movement, I think even the way he was holding the gun. A person's unconscious mind can't project things to which it's unaware.

And I have to assume that the hex really was about Willow's unconscious mind, because that's why Kennedy's kiss worked, by alleviating her guilt from "killing" Tara in pursuing a new romance. Anyway, just a thought...

OH this was another great episode..... I am so happy Giles is alive and not evil so YAY to that, and I am glad willow is getting some action agian she deserves it........ its good that she gets over Tara,

Rona put Molly in the car trunk. lol Good times. Anyway, this episode rocked. The Kennedy/Willow/Warren storyline was really emotionally done and very touching towards the end. It kills me seeing Willow so unhappy like that and seeing her hurting so much when she's talking about Tara (kills me even more that she never said those things about a certain someone else, but that's besides the point). It was just such a great ending scene; with Kennedy asking Willow if she was okay, and Willow looks back up at the window. I was in tears by the end of the episode. I just want Willow to stop blaming herself for everything. Warren/Adam did a fantastic job as Willow; especially the 'non yellow crayon' scene (that was cute).

I can't believe I actually believed Amy was a good person at first. She completely fooled me. But Amy's better evil than she is good.

At first, when Buffy and Spike were in the Initiative, I thought the monster guy was Forrest, but then I realized how stupid I was 'cause him being dead and all. But the whole Initiative part, kinda boring?- Can't think of a better word. Actually, 'pointless' sounds kind of nice. They could have used that air time to explain what's up with Chloe or at least show the SITs doing something instead of just mentioning some of their names at the beginning of the episode. And I think next week's episode looks stupid, but hopefully I'll be surprised.

And I've got one question, weren't they supposed to fill the Initiative with concrete like they said at the end of "Primeval"?

The First: Willow was turning INTO Warren. She DOES have magic, so perhaps she was tapping into him or something.
