yeah thats what i've been saying.. it's not a freakin scythe. it's definitely the same thing melaka fray uses in ish 6 though, which is a nice touch from joss (who would expect any less?)

EDIT:

the scythe is a bit different (handle isn't red, the whole blade isn't red, and there isnt the cloth) but it's logically flawed. there's a stake attached onto the end of it... which is made of wood. gwuh? is it replaceable LOL.. plus it was hidden in that rock for who knows how long

And I thought of something else in this episode that made me mad!
What's up with the writer lumping children and rich people into the same category with evil sinners? That's kinda sucky. How much money do you think the writers have made of off this show? They had to have made some... so what's the deal with that? And children are not evil. These two should not be singled out... there is evil in everybody.

Spike's speech was incredible. One of the most beautifully written "love notes" I've ever heard (remind me to replace my tissue box before next weeks ep). And it was exactly what Buffy needed to get her out of her slayer slump. Yes she is wonderful. Yes she is the One.

It's just like our mothers have always told us. If we believe that we will fail at something, we WILL fail at something. Spike let her know she will prevail.

That was the reason she was able to rise above Caleb's attacks at the Vineyard. Buffy is all things wonderful, while Caleb is filled with sin and evil.


I would love to know what Buffy wrote in the note for Spike. Despite how she says she doesn't love him, she definitely has feelings for him or she wouldn't have left him a note at all. She'd have just left.

OK, well if you want to get really technical, this weapon looks like a halberd. However, it does look almost exactly the same as the weapon in the comic. So, I still say it's a Scythe. But, I guess we will just have to wait and see what Buffy calls it next week.

Oh, get over it, Soulgasm! I thought that you liked lesbians, anyway. BTW, the sex scenes between Buffy and Riley were *far* more explict! 🙄
 
Looks like an axe to me too. Halberds are much longer, and topped with a capping spike. When they don't have the cap spike, they are called pole-axes. But I digress. A scythe is the kind of 'weapon' Death or Charon carries in all the popular myths. Death carries one in Bill and Ted's adventure part 2, and you can also see Louis using one in the Theatre du Vampyres to incapacitate Vamps in the movie Interview with a Vampire. It's not really a weapon either, in the strictest sense, having been developed for harvesting grain, but I'm sure it has been used as such on occasion. A shorter oriental version came into use as a weapon (called a Kama), when Law forbid the common man to carry a weapon; causing people to arm themselves with farming implements for self-defense. I suppose it doesn't matter though lol.

Hehe, yeah many people seem to get the turn of the century off by one year, but I suppose it doesn't matter either, considering the whole thing is arbitrary anyway. All we celebrate is the revision of the calendar (And our calendar is different now anyway as of the 1500's I think?) so I figure it's celebrated just for something to do anyway. 😉 If I had my way, we'd celebrate the millenium every year. 🙂

Man Spike really proved something in this episode. He really does care for her, and I think it's grown way past infatuation and into a selfless kind of caring. I don't know what to think anymore. 🙂
 
Great episode no doubt.

For awhile I thought the Fuffy shippers were absolutly nuts. But I'm really starting to think Faith may very well be in love with Buffy. The crazy thing is that I'm not even sure Faith floats that way. Very odd indeed.

Being a "Fuffy" shipper myself, I just had to reply to your post 🙂 There has always been sexual tension between Buffy and Faith, only I think Faith realizes it and Buffy does not. There is supposed to be sexual subtext between them, as the DVD commentary track for "Bad Girls" reveals. Also, just take a look at "This Year's Girl" and "Who Are You?" from the fourth season... as Giles would say, "The [Fuffy] sebtext is rapidly becoming text"! Like Faith taking a bath in Buffy's body? It's pretty obvious that Faith has a (sorta twisted) thing for Buffy. Faith's always been obsessed with Buffy and her life. Faith has even had emotional and/or physical relationships with the majority of Buffy's men: Angel, Xander, Riley, Spike, and Wood... at least in one of those cases, it was so she could get closer to BUFFY (i.e. sleeping with Riley - I think Faith was more intrigued by having sex as Buffy/with someone Buffy has sex with than she was actaully attracted to Riley)! And Faith is just a sexual person all around, so I think she floats in no specific way! However, I can't really see Buffy seriously swinging that way, no matter how much I'd absolutely love to see them together 😀 But someday, if they really opened up to each other and Buffy got really drunk, I think it's possible!

...You know, assuming Faith doesn't get blown up by the bomb in this ep! 😱

I don't know if this has been covered yet or not, but did the bomb in the box stuff say C4 on each thing? 'Cause it looked like it did. If there was that much C4 in that kind of box, there would be nothing left of those girls except charred remains. There also would be no more tunnel or anything like that...

You know, though I've never been big on any Fuffy stuff...your explanation of it all makes a lot of sense...I think Faith definitely does have a thing for Buffy...a definite obsession with her, which typically also would include an attraction.
 
That's pretty much exactly along the lines of what I was thinking This year's girl. At every level Faith has been at throughout all these years it always seemed about getting Buffy's attention. I'm interested to see if there will be any sort of conclusion to this bizzarre tale.
 
That's the first time I've ever heard that Fuffy angle, but it makes a cetain kind of sense. Not that it'll ever happen, Buffy doesn't even seem Bi-curious to me, but it's interesting to think about when watching them interact.
 
I don't Faith ever wanted Buffy--certainly not consciously anyway. Rather, Faith wanted to be Buffy. And who wouldn't? Buffy was the one all the other kids looked up to. Buffy was the one that always got to be in the spotlight. Faith got jelous.

Now Faith's been trying to be good, which involves surpressing "bad" desires like wanting to take over someone elses life. She suddenly finds herself in Buffy's place! Now that she's there, she kind of wishes Buffy were there instead because it's scary being the leader. Case in point: bombs.

About the bomb: I looked back, and the charges, at least a few of them actually do have "High Explosive C4" written on them. I think we're gonna have to chalk this one up to the overactive imaginations of the prop designers. If you really set off that much C4... chances of survival are remote to say the least. After that thing went off, you'd be hard pressed to find enough remains to even bury.

But I don't think it will go that way. I think what we'll get is a much smaller explosion, in spite of the fact that's it's labeled "C4". They can do that because it's just a show.
 
Oh I agree, Buffy absolutly does not feel the same way towards Faith. Wouldn't it be wild if in some last hope desperation seen Faith declared her love for Buffy to Buffy hehe

This episode kicks...

Dunno if theres been any theories on this already, but I couldn't help but notice the bridge Faith crossed...depending on how deep the water goes that might be a possible escape (tho as said already - the realistic outcome with that ammount of c4 would be bye bye everyone down there, and we certainly didn't get to hear a watery splosh while that bomb kept ticking in the end.
 
question, you say in Fray all demons had gone after an apocalyptical battle, possibly this one, if they play this out in the series, how the hell can there be a new Angel season?
 
Well, first of all, it may not play out that way. Second, maybe it's not that all the demons will disappear; maybe it's just that
the hellmouth will be gone or closed
. Thirdly, the Angel and Buffy multiverses may move in different directions (but I kind of doubt it).
