It would terrify him to think that he might have that kind of violence in him, and that he might do something to physically hurt Anya. Kind of in the same vein as when Wes (after contact w/ Billy) was ashamed of himself for attacking Fred. Both are inherently "good" guys who would never hurt anyone, but would be very afraid and confused if somehow presented (via demon-vision, or demon-infection) with the idea that they do have a capacity for violence towards people they care about.

I think you might have hit on why Xander was so shaken and freaked out. It makes perfect sense, all things considered. Especially how he asked what happened after his 'vision' stopped. Poor Xander. 🙁
 
I agree Helga, I think that probably was the problem. I think if the vision hadn't included that last scene that the wedding still might have taken place but I think that Xander was too afraid that something like that might happen and that he might hurt Anya. *sobs* What a sad ep! 🙁
 
It was definately both the parents and the possibility of violence that lead Xander to walk away. I hope it all works out. Xander really showed his emotions on this one. It was a really good ep I thought.
