Official Discussion of "Never Leave Me"

By the way, for anyone who can remember, what did Travers say after he said "The girl knows nothing." Then he got up and said..........?

My tv screwed up for like 5 secs, and I missed what he said. When I looked back at my tape, I still couldn't hear what he said. So, anyone that can help...

That's a real bommer! The line he said was this:

QUENTIN TRAVERS
(to phone) "Not at all. Good day." (hangs up, sighs, addresses others at the table) "The girl knows nothing." (stands, walks) "And we need to find Rupert Giles." (stands in front of world map) "As soon as possible."

Anyway I liked the episode a lot, it has a huge cliff-hanger, like "Rain of Fire". But one of the things Quentin Travers said sounded a little more interesting to me, it was just before he got blown up:

QUENTIN TRAVERS
(walks) "It's all right, Lydia. We are still masters of our fate, still captains of our souls."

What did he say here, masters of our fate or masters of our Faith ... could this mean something, or is it just coincidence?

The UberVamp looked a bit like the Reepers from "Blade 2" to me, or like the Morlocks from "the Time Machine".

He said masters of our fate. Lol, but it would be funny if he said Faith. Thanks, Allycat🙂, for clearing that line up for me. I was so worried it was something really important, but Travers said what I thought he said.

Building shell game

If the building blown-up didn't look the same as the one Travis was in. It could be that the Watcher's after the first successful attacks of the First Evil, moved to a kind of back up command center, so that their main headquaters was blown up and not them. It just a thought.

What a great episode. I'm glad things are moving along finally and that everything with Spike is clear. I'm so interested to see how the whole Faith bit works in and what will happen. I'm loving this season so much (I think I say that on every post I make! 🙂)

(Refering to the above post) When I saw the building blow up I automatically thought that it was the WC "covering their tracks" by getting rid of everything there and moving on - as in they are going to the hellmouth. I've also been wondering if the evil in Angel and BtVS are connected somehow. I mean it would make sense in terms of the shows, but at the same time I know how often I've read the actors etc... say how Angel needs to be it's own show and separate from BtVS and b/c of diff networks, I'm thinking then maybe not?? DOn't know but am SO anxious to find out.

No new eps for a long time! Hm....maybe I'll actually get some studying done; which would be a good thing since finals are coming up!

We learned in "Amends" that the First cannot be fought and also cannot go corporial, hence cannot do harm directly. It almost pushed Angel over the edge, but it doesn't seem to be able to push current Sunnydale citizens? has the First lost its edge?
I suspect that the First Evil doesn't have any interest in the regular citizens of earth, who are oblivious to his existence and couldn't possibly stop him anyway when his evil plan to eat all cookies on earth comes to fruition 😉

What he is paying attention to, is to whatever opposes him directly and could stand in his way - this being the Watcher's Council and the Slayer.

I think Angelique has a good point. If he would have all of Eaths inhabitans (inlc. the army and police force)on his side, the Council, the SITs, AI and the Scoobies would be pretty defensless!

Does the First Evil have that much power to control all humans on Earth, or even just the people of Sunnydale?

Well, since there will be no BtVS or Angel in the coming weeks, I guess it is time to get out the tape of S3 and watch Amends again. The last few minutes when Buffy faces the First might give us a clue about what the First is all about and how it can affect people.
The only thing I am missing is the heat...it got extremely hot in Sunnydale the last time the First made an appearance!
And from what I remember, it is love and believing that threatens it. With Angel rather killing himself than hurting anyone and Buffy standing by him and believing in him.
And didnt' she tell Spike already that she believes in him....
Opening the hellmouth will require muscle, but defeating the First will require opening their hearts.

the Big Bad is the First Evil, this thing was just some Uber-Vampire!

but the first evil isnt THE FIRST

The first evil was the first evil on earth, the first evil everywhere but not the first vampire...

As I see it they cannot fight the first, Buffy cannot fight it, nobody can -- as long as someone has the tiny drip of hate in them the first evil will remain and exist -- beyond.

upsetting find

i was checking out the Season 7 episode guide at (beware - possible spoilers in the link):

http://www.tvtome.com/tvtome/servlet/EpisodeGuideSummary/showid-10/season-7

and saw this listed after the recap for "Never Leave Me" -

Four days after the airing of this episode, Joss Whedon announced that this would be the last season of Buffy, feeling that the show had come full circle.

thanks for the info. Read the little "spoiler" bit about the next episode. Sounds good. Man I can't wait for Faith to come back though! Does anyone know which episodes she's supposed to be appearing in??

We already know they cant fight the first....in "Amends" it was the same thing. So the first becomes others that have died to decieve everyone...and just brings up other bad things to fight them...of course since he doesnt exist physically.

Yes we do!
she will be back the last five episodes of this season and three episode before that on Angel!
