I don't know why, but I was left feeling really empty after the episode. I had been looking forwards to it for so long and it just left too many things hanging... It was almost like THE END.
I know it isn't, but it is almost like I've been berieved and I don't know how to feel about the episode. On the one hand, there was some excellent acting, great revelations (though we all knew that Angel and Cordy were in love) I actually felt really sorry for Gru even though I've wanted him to go from the start 'cos Cordy and Angel are so right for each other, and I think Mark Lutz played him really well.
Of course any episode with Skip in is a great one 😀 , but I really don't want Cordy to ascend to higher being status... who will get the vision to help run Angel investigations?... oh, no, wait, there is no Angel investigations as Angel is at the bottom of the sea, Wesley has sunk so low as to sleep with Lyla (love the line about he wasn't thinking about her even while she was there 😉 ), Lorne has gone to vegas and Connor needs to be sent to boot camp. What is gunn gonna do? Take Fred to live on the streets and rejoin his old vamp fighting gang? Not so sure they would welcome her with open arms, and Angel investigations probably needs a bit more than just Gunn and Fred to run it.
It broke my heart to see the look on Angel's face as he sank to the bottom... he didn't even vamp out, and I really think he would have been justified to do so under the circumstances.
I can't wait for the next season to see how this is all resolved, but for now (other than some really strange theories I have conjured up in my head which involve the earth moving on several thousand years, the seas subsiding, the sun being burnt out and the sea relinquishes the Angel coffin complete with living skelington who is no longer day light challanged a there isn't any sun any more, to be met by a glowing unaging Cordy to wreak warfare on the demons who now rule the earth, while the humans cower in fear in caves underground near the heat of the earths core... told you they were strange theories, and somewhat unlikely!😛 ) I have no idea how this is going to reconcile itself.
Angel has been excellent this season, and I really didn't think it would end on such a dark note with so many goodbyes.
I think I need some time to come to terms with it.
