Did how you see Piper change once Wyatt came along? Was there a pre baby and post baby change in Charmed?

It should happen more often as their could be a lot of happy families created out of heartbreak or tragic situations.

To the best of my admittedly second hand knowledge on the subject, I believe it is rather tricky to get grandchildren without having children first.

It's rather tricky to get grandchildren even if you have children, if many, many advice-column letters from wannabe grandmas are to be believed!

I guess you do need the children to cooperate for that! Which, admittedly, I am not doing. 😀

I always viewed Piper as the most maternal of the sisters, so it felt organic for her to become a mother. Especially since she had a solid husband with good bloodlines. Her babies did not come across as manipulative to me, more a natural progression of her story and character.

Really? I don't remember this. Then again I haven't seen the X-Files since like 5 or 6 years ago. But I only remember seeing a "Scully mother/child" relationship drama in the reunion mini-series. The most I remember about motherhood was the final years of the show with the test tube/in vitro baby stuff. I don't recall her having a child at any point in the run. Even as old(er) Scully in 2015 they never actually show you William. (Or maybe they do I only saw a few episodes of the reunion as it never impressed me).

I looked it up and what I'm remembering about Scully with a child was "Emily" who she actually thought was the daughter of her sister. I may give it a rewatch (it's a two-parter at least) just to refresh my memory, but I'm still rewatching Angel season 5 with other things to see after I'm done.

Yeah, it is a child she encounters during a case after the mother has died, and she becomes convinced it is her sisters child, while her family thinks she is crazy, it is then revealed it is Scully's own biological child and it is two tedious episodes of this child now being Scully's one and only reason for being and her highest priority. The child is brought back as a vision later in the season, again to squeeze some more maternal quilt and tears from Scully's character.

And it is so forced. Like, for me at least it is hard to invest in this emotional connection when it is so sudden, so brief, yet so all encompassing for the character when it is on screen. It is just an odd choice all around. Especially when they don't talk about it the episodes between.
