Nothing says "I'm a big stoopid newbie" like a question about avatars, but here goes...

I understand the avatar policy, but I was wondering is there an established way of suggesting new subjects for avatars, or do we just mail/pm Admin? That just seems so... rude...

I sort of expected to find a stickied/Staked topic where we could just post vague suggestions, making it easier for the avvie makers to just pick and choose what was relevant/ possible/ cool...but I don't see anything to that effect.

I'll fess up: I really want a cool Fray avatar...
 
most forums seem to simply let you have your own, exept for here where they give a selection (which your not aloud to use anywhere else cos they cropped them thereself which makes it their image, even tho Joss shot it, the cast acted in it and Fox own it....)

i know that dosent help but im half convinced the admin get a kick out of confusing people.

meh as long as knowone else uses my funky Lindsey avatar im cool :vpleased:
 
Nah, I understand why they restrict the custom.. eh... "customness" of the avatars. Otherwise it leads to b*tching about stolen avatars, or inappropriate avatars, or GIF whinges... Plus, it gives admin something they can award as a privilege.

I was a member of another forum where one spammer kept coming back with various Nazi symbols as part of his avatar and a massive, and incredibly offensive, picture signature. They banned him every time, and eventually banned picture signatures, but he kept coming back. Besides which, the folks who do the avatars for here make pretty good ones, and it's not like there's a lack of variety...
 
You can send a pic you'd like to see added into the Av gallery to Buffy Summers or Faith. They may then make an Av out of it. However, it will be added into the general gallery, and if you ever decide to change your Av, it will be available for any member to use.

And yes we don't allow the use of our Avs on any other site.
 
That's cool. It just felt like Buffy Summers and Faith mightn't appreciate getting pestered with avatar requests when they're supposed to be... y'know... saving the world and all.

You might want to PM your suggest to Buffy Summers though, as Faith isnt online as much because of a problem with her internet connections...
 
I actually have a few Fray pictures I was planning on making. Adding to the gallery is probably the easiest way.

Contrary to what you think, I do spend a lot of time making the avatars. So I don't think it's too much to ask that if someone wanted to use them somewhere else that they ask me first. I never claimed that the pictures are mine, but that the effort was. If it's just a matter of cropping, as you say, then why is it so difficult for people to get the picture and make their own rather than taking mine?

The main reason to not allow custom avatars, though there are many that I have gone through ad nauseum, is that they are a bandwith hog and would make the site run even slower.
