...Mrs. Calendar's my father"?!?!
How am I just now hearing this joke? LMFAO I'm watching "Some Assembly Required" and I just heard Jenny say this line in the scene where Giles is trying to ask her out and she asks him to the football game. LOL
Am I the last one to catch this?

LOL Nah i caught on right away 😛 I haven't seen this episode in a ages, but i can remember this very well for some weird reason.
sorry to burst your bubble hun 😛

I thought it was hilarious. Nice little take on the "Mr. Smith's my father" reply to calling someone "Mr."

I don ´t get it 🙁

In the beginning of Season 2's "Some Assembly Required", Giles calls Jenny "Mrs. Calendar", to which she answers "Oh, no, please call me Jenny... Mrs. Calendar is my father." One would assume she should have said mother instead of father, but because she grins after she says it, it's meant to be taken as a joke. 🙂

For non-native English speakers, it's pretty standard for someone, upon being called "Mr." so-and-so, to reply, "Oh, please, call me John. Mr. Smith is my father." I think it's an age thing; being called "sir" or "Mr." makes some people feel old. Hence, the "Mr. Smith" is the father, the older one, while "John" is the younger, cooler one.

Jenny was playing with that convention a bit by asking Giles to call her Jenny instead of Ms. Calendar. She was being cute by leaving it as "father" instead of "mother."

I hope that helps!

I never noticed that. I don't think it's very funny though. Maybe I'm missing something.

To me not very funny but it gave me a small smile.
I remember the first time I heard it I laughed hysterically. Everyone was looking at me like I was a nut job! 😀
