New season just uploaded! Before we get too far into it, what do you think is going to happen? Where do you think alex is? Who is going to take the fall for the riot?

I think Alex is in another prison and she will be transferred back to Litchfield Max halfway through the season. I hope that the girls can prove the guards were the reason the riot happened!

Liked it about as much as season 5, but both pale in comparison to season 4. To be fair season 3 was the lowest point.

The end of 4 was gut wrenching. it was hard to get through 5. They experimented by doing the season over 3 days but there was too much going on. I’ve seen 2 1/2 episodes of this new season, and I’ve enjoyed it more. I just wish they weren’t all separated. And I hate they took away Maritza from Flaca! They were my favorite comedic relief!

I know it’s been a common theme since day one but all the whiny “Where is Alex?” is so annoying. For a main character, she’s kind of dull. I like the supporting characters more than her.

I no longer think Piper is the main character, and I'm glad she's not
Thinking/hoping that we'll see more of the others next season. Seen brief glimpse of them in an episode.

God yes. I was like of course, right off the bat Piper is an annoying nightmare.

I actually binge watched this all day yesterday, haha, and over all I thought this season was great! I rarely binge anything so the fact that it kept me hooked says something to me.

I liked that they were separated and that new characters were brought in, I think that helped the season a lot.

I've actually been struggling with this season. I'm up to episode 10...I think. There has been some good stuff but mostly I'm kinda underwhelmed. Barb and Carol are interesting, but I really don't care about any of the other new characters. "Badison" is so irritating (it was driving me nuts trying to figure out where I knew her from. She was Eve, the potential slayer)

I'm glad most of my favorites are still around like Cindy and Nicky, but I'm curious about everybody else, I want to know what happened to them. I like how as usual, they are paring different characters together, that's always great. And I have been enjoying the call backs to earlier seasons. It put a smile on my face when Suzanne called Piper "Dandelion" 🙂

Oh my god! “Eve” has been so annoying!! Hahaha but it was a nice Easter Egg to see she’s still causing trouble! Haha

Omg thank you!!!! It was driving me crazy trying to figure out where I knew her from!!’ and yes I hate her!! I love Carol and Barb though. They are saving the season for me, they dynamic is so interesting and I love how twisted they are .

She's more known for the 70s/80s show One Life To Live. Plus she's the daughter of John Phillips of the Mamas & the Papas.

I know she was known before then! But So Weird was my other paranormal sci-fi obsession growing up! Awesome to see her in another role. Hope she is sober now!

American Graffiti (1973) is Mackenzie Phillips' most famous role, surely. She had a very memorable part beside Paul LeMat's John Milner and a major interaction with Harrison Ford's Bob Falfa.

"Your car's uglier than I am! That didn't come out right."

But yes, the daughter of the Mamas & the Papas member John Phillips was also memorably Fi's rocker mom on So Weird.

And of course, she's now known for the infamous allegations (backed by one of her sisters told at the time, while the other denies it) of having sex with her father as a teen when both were completely wasted on hard drugs they did together. She struggled with drug addiction for a long time. Her time on One Life to Live was plagued by her drug use.

I remember her Oprah interview! Was heartbreaking to hear.

I was so obsessed with this show—rivaling my obsession with Buffy. But Fi was much closer to my age so I identified with her more. I dreamed of living on a tour bus, traveling the nation and solving paranormal mysteries, in college I even found a thumb ring with a Celtic knot and wore it proudly (I’m Irish by blood). Was gutted when Fi was replaced with a mediocre teeny bopper and the show made more “Disney-friendly”. Fi was supposed to eventually travel to Hell to get her dad back! So many awesome themes in the show—and a showrunner that treated preteens as more intelligent than any other Disney showrunner, before or since!

Alas, all that is off topic! But I so loved Molly Phillips! And so glad to see Mackenzie in this roll!

Sorry, the show she was on was One Day at a Time. Different show. That was the one with Mackenzie and Valerie Bertinelli.

But definitely George Lucas' American Graffiti is her most famous role. It's a huge classic film with a gazillion famous people in it. I've actually eaten at the rebuilt Mel's Drive-in (San Francisco). It's definitely in my Top 10 favorite films.

Is it like sacrilege that I’ve never seen American Graffiti? I feel like I need to go amazon that stat! Ha 😱
I'm one of the few that loved season 5. I'm on episode 4 of this season. I'm suppose to wait to watch with my mom lol. So far so good.

One thing though that I really hope they address is Penn and Donut. I really don't like where the storyline is going, and I hope they don't keep going in that direction.

I liked season 5 too :) Glad I'm finally not the only one! haha.
Just read that The Voice alumn Vicci Martinez played 'Daddy'/Domiga and that she's dating Emily Tarver (McCullough) in real life also they're in band! 😵

Saw that! Crazy! I kinda like Daddy as a new character
Overall this season had some big hit, but also some misses for me. Spoilers ahead!!

The good:
Carol and Barb were by far the vest villains of the show since Vee. Definitely the highlight of the season.
The blue vs khakis was a fun dynamic with a good build up and an interesting ending.
The change to max and getting rid of quite a few characters allowed for new interactions! Some of the new pairs were really fun to watch (Cindy and Flaca, Frieda, Tucky and Suzanne, etc).
Daddy *heart eyes*
Taystee, by far the best performance of the season. And a very heartbreaking ending. That scene packed a punch.
Maria coming in second for best performance. Great development on her part.
Glad they addressed the current political climate of the States. Again, very heartbreaking ending for Blanca.
I never liked Daya much but the actress did a great job this season and it was nice to finally see some character development (even if it was negative). I love that OITNB has a way of making you care for characters like that after 6 seasons.
Same as above, I never liked Cindy, I actually disliked her quite strongly, but this season really made me care for her character.
Glad they addressed that Donut still had issues and glad Tucky left him. I still wish it was addressed better and sooner, but at the very least she came to the realization that she was better off leaving.

The bad:
Too much time spent on the guards (McCollough's story was actually really interesting, but I think in the end was not explored enough).
Too many characters lost their character development in favour of being comic reliefs (especially Morello).
"Badison" was horrible and should have never been a character. Way too much of a focus was put on her. I haven't disliked a character like that in a while, I don't even like to dislike her.
I miss the old formula of having a character back story every, or almost every episode. I'm one of the few that really likes those.
Piper was still unlikable, but slightly better than some of the previous seasons. The Piper/Alex wedding was cute.
Some of the characters were obviously missed, but I think having a smaller cast was a good thing. The problem is that although focusing on fewer characters, the story wasn't as focused as I would have liked to see. The most interesting stuff was by far the C block/D block feud and the Carol/Barb/Frieda triangle, and Taystee's trial, yet we'd go whole episode with little to no development or build up. A lot of the smaller new characters introduced also lacked personality (the exception being Morello's new bunky, she was awesome!!).

Overall I'd rate this season probably in the lower end compared to other seasons (although I really need to see it a second time to really judge it). I thought it was weaker than season 5 at first glance.

Loved Carol and Barb
I am so miffed at how they ended the Carol/Barb storyline. Like.. ugh. I was getting into it so much and then they dropped the ball. Though I did like the turnout of the “war” at kickball. It reminded me of the ending at the lake a few years ago.

I am curious as to how they continue Taystee’s story. I hope they show what an appeals process is like. I was so mad when that scene occurred! I yelled at my tv “BUT SHE DIDNT DO IT”.

And Blanca! I hope part of next season spends time in a Detention Center. I feel like half of America needs to see to understand how cruel that whole system is. Especially for people who never even lived in the country they are “from”. But I’ll get off my immigration soap box.

I missed Maritza. I really did. She was my favorite side character. I agree in that I loved seeing Cindy and Flaca do their act together and develop a friendship, but Maritza was my girl.

And I could not be bothered if they never showed Piper again. I know that’s not going to happen, but I have been over her character for 3 years. I don’t even care about her story anymore, and she and Alex annoy me so much.

Oh, lol, I'd almost forgotten how much I hated Vee.

Agreed. I liked it in a sense, but also, it felt so abrupt and like a wasted opportunity for something more.
