Have you, like me, kept a diary since a very young age? Then maybe you want to share some funny thoughts of yours? Here's something I wrote when I had just turned 8 (Zandra is My big sister):

JULY 13 1994
DEAR DIARY.
TODAY I GOT A BABY BROTHER. I THINK HE IS CUTE BUT I'M AFRAID TO TELL ZANDRA.
GOODBYE DIARY. I LIKE YOU. HOPE YOU LIKE ME TOO.

Lol. Did you really write that all in caps?

I used to have a diary when I was like seven, but I don't know where it is anymore. It had a fake topaz gem on it, and the orange cover was bleached white when I just left it next to the window for two years. And then I probably threw it away.

I have kept diaries since I was about 11. I started out with paper journals and now have a private one online I write in from time to time. 😉
My favorite ones to look back on and reread are the ones from my junior high and high school years. God, my life was "so hard", or so I thought. LMAO

I so agree! I had a journal, back when my family thought that was a good idea, and I just laughed at all the things I thought were so horrible. Like the world was going to end because my friend didn't return my text. LOL
I found mine from First Grade (I was 7 at the time, 2002) and it said:
Dear Journal,
When I become President I am going to vote NO SCHOOL!

I am very glad I had my priorities straight back then. 😀

I've kept journals since I was a kid, but I lost them all and never actually completed any.

I have one journal that I started in September 2008 and actually finished the whole book in March 2011. 😛 I know, took long enough... I'm on my second "official" journal that I'd like to complete one day, but I just never find the time to write in it.

I won't write out any entries since they're kinda long, but I will say one thing. At the end of each entry, I always drew a little smiley face to represent what mood I was in at the time I wrote it. So if I was in a good mood I'd put a 🙂, if I was in a sad mood I'd draw a 🙁, etc etc.

I don't think I had a diary but I did have this little scrapbook thing in which I mostly drew stuff but sometimes I wrote random things in also. This was when I was like 8 or 9. I found it a few years ago and I was soooo bloody embarrassed.

In it I had scribblings of how I really liked this boy and I wrote his name out like a million times in all kinds of different colours and fonts. Turned out this boy never rooted for the straight side. I tore those pages out and chucked them immediately. I was a fair drawer though, so that made me smile.

i kept lots of journals as a child. at least 6-10. i have them all in a box in my closet. i was (and still am) a really introverted, loner, deep kid so a lot of the entries are surprisingly depressing sometimes haha.
i don't really keep journals anymore (i should), but i do a fair amount of creative writing, which has taken the place of journals i think

What a great thread idea!

Sadly, I recently threw out my childhood diaries. They were just too embarrassing to allow to exist, lol.

I did, however, re-read them before throwing them out, and I recall a lot of lamenting about celebrity crushes (Taylor Hanson and Jonathan Taylor Thomas, mostly) and boring day-to-day accounts of school, ie. "Today I talked to this cute guy Shane, and he let me borrow his pencil, and we learned about The Civil War..." etc

I've sporadically tried to write a diary. Looking back, I'm kinda torn between regret and relief for not having been consistent.
The parts that I did write...oh.my.god.

Basically, I usually get in the mood to write a diary whenever I have a crush on a guy and I get all emotional (and that's VERY emotional). Sooo, you can sort of imagine how this stuff I wrote about reads. It's really really embarassing. Like, one time, I went on for several pages about how I had seen my crushes boxers during gym class and how I helped him out with an answer during an exam.

The funny thing is, I always wrote it in the same journal, so now when you read it, it's always a small period of time J'm head over heels for some guy, then there's a huge time gap and next thing you know I'm completely into the next guy.

Looking back, all those crushes were pretty dumb and embarassing, but back then I was always convinced that the most recent one I was writing about was THE ONE...

I've never really kept a proper diary, but I usually would write in this notebook whenever I had a strong feeling about someone. It's bascially full of my thoughts on the people I went to school with, and I hated most of them 😀. But there was this one page that I spilled all my feelings about this 15 year-old boy that 11 year old me thought she was in love with. He was the best friend of my cousin, and his mom was really good friends with my mom, so I would see him occasionally...anyway, I wrote this huge letter expressing my love for him in my journal. And then, to top it off, his mom actually found that letter and laughed about it for ages with my mom...I was mortified when I found out LOL.

Oh, I have a few journals lying around! I hated calling them diaries. Sounded too girly! I wrote a lot of entries in random school notebooks so they're scattered around or they've been thrown out.
Since Miki was brave enough to share, so will I!

Today our playground was flooded from erigation (irrigation), but the big toy (the jungle gym) was not flooded. Then the water began to break through. We tried to built a dame but that did not work, so we called the Janitor.
Boys I think like me.
Realy: Brian, Tyler, Jamie
Kindof: Israel, Mathew

Apparently, my spelling wasn't so great as a 9 year old, and yet that's not even the most embarrassing part.

this part made me giggle. I never kept diaries, I always wanted to a bit like Clarissa (explains it all) but it never happened. I still try now from time to time because I love reading back what I've done but I'm just always too busy.

I didn't start keeping a diary until I was fifteen, but I've changed so much that entries still amuse me.

November 24, 2009

This thing keeps staring at me and it's FREAKING ME OUT. It's like, a decapitated head or something that was left over from that 80s dinner theater crap that the show choirs did. Jaymee and Imelda brought it into Algebra class (where I'm writing from) and OF COURSE positioned it right where its eyes are on me, and this journal.

I'm in a bad mood today, just a bit. Yesterday, I brought in a New Moon chocolate bar that I had been saving and shared it with everyone. But wen I left the table for a second, everyone started giggling. I guess I should have known they were up to something, but I trust(ed) Krystle and Sophia and Jenny. I didn't think much of it. Big mistake.

Sophia LICKED my chocolate!!!!!!! I really don't blame her, though maybe I should, but I know Krystle was the one who told her to do it. I tried to give her the silent treatment, but it didn't work too well. Wolfgirl (note: my nickname for Krystle) makes me laugh too easily!

If that wasn't bad enough, Mama and I missed Dancing With The Stars last night. I wonder if the DVR caught it. If not, will we still watch the results tonight?

I can't believe I'm thinking about it now, but I would die for Skyline Chili. ALL THAT CHEESE. Why must lunch feel so far off?

Well, gotta go, the sub is glaring at me. Mr. Macklin's not here, so we've got this woman who looks like a mixture of Delores Herbig and a muppet. Just kill me now.

Irrationally laughing,
Tabby ♥

I do a similar thing; my sign off is always related to my mood. And I always end with a small heart for luck.

OMG Delores Herbig!!! XD
I had one when I was a kid. Mom thought it would help me. It had a lock and everything. My brothers found it and broke it open and read everything I'd written. Told my friend I had a brush on him, and told Mom I didn't like my step sister or my step dad. I got in trouble for what I wrote in something that was supposed to be private and mine. I didn't write for years after that.

Then I started one when I was a teenager, and a friend read it without my permission. That's when I stopped with the paper ones. I wish I'd kept that one. I know of a few entries I'd like to reread... Come to think of it, I had a private online one when I was in high school too. As I recall, my brother found it and showed my mom. Again, I got in trouble for something that was supposed to be privately mine.

I have a private one online that I write in when I really need to get something out, but there's no one to talk to.

I don't trust easily, so I don't really share my feelings a whole lot. Not even in a journal anymore. I learned at a young age that the vast majority of people will abuse your trust and hurt you. Good people are few and far between. I don't trust people to not somehow get my password to that journal. I actually have two on the same site. One that people know about, and one that no one knows I have. That way, my brothers wont find it and I can't get in any trouble for not being the perfect human being.

And that's why I can't share any old ones with you. I wish I could have. The journal from when I was a kid was very much in the style of Harriet the Spy. I'd write things about what my friends were doing, my neighbors, that kind of stuff mixed with my own feelings.

harriet the spy karma. the rest of this just made me sad.
I used to keep a diary when I was alot younger but I don't any more as I have learned to talk rather than to use it as a way of keeping my emotions totally private.

The oldest diary I have is from when I was 9. I wrote my entries in Dutch though, so I'll try to translate them as literary as possible ;P

( Just some rambling about my first day on vacation, and then🙂 "And of course I've stolen some candy from the car too, as always." I was a real thief back then!

I also have an entry about a boy from my class, in which I rant about how childish he is (which is pretty normal, as he was two years younger). That boy became my boyfriend three years later and is a really good friend of mine now. I still have to laugh when I read that entry.

Lucy had kittens this evening.
I was a child of many words.

And I'll finish this post with an entry about school:
11-04-'05
We'll have to keep a diary at school about school, starting tomorrow. Well, for me it is easy:
day 1 stupid today
day 2 no fun today
day 3 It was not nice today.
etc
I hate school.
And I have my parent's divorce.
They are going to divorce.
We are going to split the house. (Note: which sounds weird, is weird and never really worked out)

I have some more diaries, in which I've said more weird things, but since I don't want to make this post too long, I'll post excerpts from those later.

Dude, I just went over my aunt's house a couple of days ago(I was living with her throughout my junior high and high school years), and I gathered some things that I left over there, including my journal! They told me I had to get one, so I can let out all my emotions. Here's my first entries:

Jan 16, 2004

Hello stupid piece of paper! I don't even know why I'm talking to you, or writing on you. My aunt (bitch) told me I had to get one, so I doubt if I'll ever tell you my deepest, darkest secrets. Blah, blah, blah.....(I drew a picture of Goku underneath) Yada, yada. I might write some more tommorow, I dunno, but don't get your hopes up.

Feb 2, 2004

Hola. I'm sorry about the stuff I wrote about you earlier, journal, I was harsh. Anywho, so today was ok. Damian and Ernest crack me up. They are so ****ing funny. The ENTIRE school was so focused on the Superbowl game last night, when Justin Timberlake ripped off a piece of Janet's clothes, and her tity popped out. (She does have nice tits). The new guy came in class and completely tried to show off. Douchebag. I hate showoffs. Like they try to be funny when they're really not. On the other hand, he had REALLY clear skin. I wish this enormous pimple on my face would go away. Damn, he had pretty skin. I was staring for a little tooooo long, know what I mean? (In Willow Voice) I think I might be gay. Haha, I mean I stared at him longer than the typical straight guy, for real. HAHA! I'm so stupid. Anyhow I got home, the aunt (bitch) told me if I don't do my homework, I wont have access to my Buffy dvds. She says they distract me. Why does she hate me? More later! Love, peace and hair grease!

Feb 23, 2004

Today was pretty cool. I met a new friend, we bonded over our love of Cheetos. Haha. I was like, Cheetos are the best ( at the vending machine) and she was like, hell yeah. And I forgot what we said, but we were totally bonding. But I really didn't have a bad day. Johnny boy brought a water bottle full of alcohol in class, and me and him shared. I think I might have low tolarance or somethin, cause two waterfalls of it and I'm like rocking back and forth and shit. Hahaha it was so cool. But right now I just got back home from school, listening to Alicia Keys. I love her. So love, peace and hair grease!

God, was I really like that in middle school? Haha!! So embarrassing! I'll post more when I get a chance!

This morning my toaster tried to commit suicide. It burned itself from the inside out. the toaster doesn't pop up. So the toast caught on fire, and now I smell (I mean REALLY smell) like smoke. Stupid house. I opened up the back door, and it kept the smoke in somehow, so I had to fan out the smoke with a pillow, but then the fire alarm went off. Fun morning. I'm definitely awake!

Oh my god! I hugged David Draiman! This was an amazing night! It's better than the FYE tent at Ozzfest because I got to hang out and talk with him, instead of just say hi. ^_^ You can't even IMAGINE how happy I feel right now!!! He signed my chest! I twitched when he was about to sign my shirt, and he looked me right in the eye and said, "Be strong, and stand still." *jumps up and down* I AM SO [expletive deleted] HAPPY!!!

Those are some of the happy ones. I was 15-16.

I love this thread, and I love what you wrote! Hahah that is so freaking adorable. I love that you were afraid to tell Zandra...idk who that is, but still, cute 🙂.

Okay so I did used to keep a journal as a kid. I would always lose them or get tired of writing in the same one all the time, so I'd start new ones before using up all of the paper haha. Unfortunately...this means that I don't know where the hell any of them are. Ugh. If I find any, I will definitely post some of my embarrassing, juvenile thoughts here 😉.
