This is old news but new to me, so I am sure some of my fellow rockhiders haven't heard this:
from fox business

Sarah Michelle Gellar was sandwiched in the middle of a food fight at the age of 5. The now 45-year-old actress spoke out about the time she received heat from McDonald’s for starring in a Burger King commercial

This is really funny. This big campaign that I did for Burger King and I was 5. I was the first person to say another competitor's name in a job. McDonald's turned around sued the advertising agency, Burger King and me at 5.

So I bet those Doublemeat Palace scenes were really fun to make. McDonalds sued a five-year old. LOL

That's nuts! Even if SMG was an adult, she's just the actress hired to say the lines. Why should she be sued?

I was curious how the lawsuit came out and found this:

McDonald's filed an injunction in federal court to prevent further Burger King ads from airing. The injunction was denied, but McDonald's continued their legal battle, suing Burger King for making what they felt were misleading claims in the ad. The burger giant even named young Gellar, the child star of the offending commercial, in the lawsuit. She was forced to testify on the claims she made while acting in the commercial, including the statement "that's why I eat at Burger King instead of McDonald's."

Burger King eventually settled out of court, but the fact that Gellar had been named in the lawsuit ended up leading to rumors that Gellar had been banned from McDonald's. However, Gellar was never actually banned, just uncomfortable showing her face in the burger restaurant after the lawsuit debacle.

High stakes courtroom drama I'm sure, imagine being the lawyer who cut their teeth to cross examining little Miss Gellar:

Lawyer: Isn't it true, Miss Gellar, if that is even your real name, that despite your claims to the contrary that you do, in fact, regularly enjoy Chicken McNuggets at my clients establishments?
SMG: Um...It was in the script.
Lawyer: You're dodging the question. Your honor, permission to treat the witness as hostile?
Judge: I'll allow it.
Lawyer: Miss Geller I'm going to show you exhibit C, a photograph of you actually entering a McDonalds restaurant! *gasps from the court*
SMG: *flustered* But...I just used the restroom. I had to pee real real bad.
Lawyer: *turns to the court* You. Had. To Pee. Real bad. Ha, likely story.

*cut to commercial*

Beats Perry Mason and Law & Order all to hell I'll tell ya. 🙄
