Lazy Dolphin and I seem to share a fondness for Monty Python, which prompts me to ask - Which are your favourite classic TV comedy moments?

I give you -

Basil whipping his stalled car with a stick in "Fawlty Towers".

The "D'oh, a deer!" line from "Bart gets an elephant" in "The Simpsons".

The stoning scene from "Life of Brian".

"Don't mention the war" - also "Fawlty Towers".

Mr Creosote from Monty Python's "Meaning of Life"

There are a lot more I could come up with but what made you guys laugh?

  • Monty Python: John Cleese boxing a little blonde girl (so wrong, so funny)
  • Monty Python: the skit where all the department store salesmen have to climb into a barrel and sing
  • The Carol Burnett Show: her parody of Gone With The Wind, where she sweeps down the spiral staircase in a dress she made from her drapes...with the curtain rod still in it.
  • pretty much every moment of the first few Moonlighting seasons (plus! Bruce Willis with hair)
  • Homer eating his way through a box of donuts: Mmmm...chocolate. Mmmm....jelly. Mmmmm (slight pause) ...purple

Bruce Willis with hair - Hair is a very overrated concept!

I forgot to mention the pervy "Suit you sir!" tailors from the "Fast Show" - don't know if you Yanks have seen that one but I know Mr J Depp is a fan...

"Wow lisa...your packing light." Homer

"Maybe your just getting stronger." Lisa

"Well....i have been eating more." Homer

lol...that line always cracks me up...its when the simps go to flander's beach house...the episode is classic...

There has only been one thing that has really got me to laugh. And I mean like non-stop, the whole 94mins. Barbara Streisand's movie, What's up Doc? ... it was really hilarious.

The only really old comedy I watch is Only Fools and Horses, its just a classic 😀 Trigger is just brilliant!

Ab Fab always gets me laughing!!

The meaning of life always used to freak me out for some reason especially with that fat guy that explodes in the restaurant the grim reaper sketch was good though Lol

OOps! Just noticed that two of my "classic TV comedy moments" are from movies - still all the Python films have been on telly... ::blush:: ::blush:: ::blush::

I'd have to say anything Fawlty towers....especially the tree meets car scene. It's quite disturbing how straight laced and boring john cleese looks, and then what actually happens 😀

For me "Allo Allo" and "Are You Being Served" are real classics!

Red Dwarf: "Do you want toast?" and the song from Rimmer World.

SNL: SMG spoofs Christina Aquilera. I didn't laugh, but I'd watch it again.

Yes Minister: The government builds a multi-million dollar hospital but no-one actually works there. (Too true)

Good Neighbours: Anything Margo ever did.

? : I downloaded this short video one time. It was Alyson Hannigan and this other girl spoofing a lesbian kissing scene from Cruel Intentions. Anyone know where it's from?

From the Simpsons,
"I've got some bad news, dad."-Bart
"Your mother's not pregnant, is she?"-Homer(oh god, that always gets me. 😛)
The Rimmer Experience on the "Blue" episode of Red Dwarf
The entire cowbell/Blue Oyster Cult sketch on SNL with Christopher Walken is halrious.
When Peter Griffen breast feeds Stewie on Family Guy
and there's more, I just can't remember them all.

If I'm not mistaken it was from either the MTV awards or from the Teen Choice Awards.

Ok ok its a film but i love it!... anyone seen 'Abigail's Party'? its SO funny its cracks me up every time i see it! i think Ab Fab is funny and ehem 'The vicar of Dibley' lol

my minds a tad blank... theres heaps but cant remember much....

- When they did the simpson episode of them going to australia... now I REALLY know how you guys feel about us..
- In seinfeild where krammer is on that fire engine and it looks so weird
- In seinfeld with the soup and how it soposedly tastes good
- In becker when he decides to quit smoking and everyone keeps nagging him so he just goes in the dumpster.
- In becker when Linda goes blonde, and she keeps on saying all these comments about it.

Being old I remember "Abigail's Party" as a TV play starring the wonderful Alison Steadman, so it must be a TV classic comedy moment!

Talking of Alison Steadman - the last series of "Fat Friends" featured the scene where her character's Jewish friend, Lauren, was explaining to her parents that although her boyfriend might be a Church of England vicar she knew that he was circumcised - "For health reasons." 😀
