There, now you have no excuse for scrolling down this far. Dont' complain.

First off... I don't quite understand where the title of this episode comes from... Older and Far Away doesn't quite fit. Maybe Silly Wish, Bad Demon.

The episode, in my opinion, was a great return to the lighter-hearted funny episodes of years gone by. Though it still had many of the darker elements... ie, Willow's witchyness and Dawn's shoplifting, which was revealed to the gang in this episode. (She actually gave buffy a shoplifted jacket for a birthday present!)

Some cute romantic/ackward minutes between Tara and Willow in this episode, as well as Buffy/Spike, who tactfully put the humping on hold for this episode in favor of some cute teases and funny looks at each other while amongst company.

One memorable B/S moment happened during the gift opening part of the party... Willow had given Buffy a hand-held massager... "Instant gratification for all your little aches!" Willow chirped. The look that Buffy gave Spike, and the way he cocked his little eyebrow at her was absolutely priceless. One of the two laugh-out-loud moments in this episode for me.

There was also some nice exchanges between Spike and Tara, a duo that we rarely get to see playing off of each other. They look really nice together, actually. After Tara catches B/S in one of their semi-grope sessions, Spike confesses to having a muscle cramp.... "In your pants?" Tara replies. Funny stuff.

I noticed that Dawn was acting like a complete bitch in this episode... I don't care if she lost her mother or whatnot... it's no reason to act like a little brat. It was great when Anya found all the stuff Dawn swiped from the Magic Box... oh, like Dawn didn't want anybody to know about it. If she really didn't, she wouldn't have kept the stuff around, and she REALLy wouldn't have given Buffy a shoplifted jacket with the security tag still on it.

Of course in the end, little Dawny gets what she wants, even though she's a self-absorbed brat. ::fire::

I won't give away EVERYTHING that happens in the episode, but there are a couple of 'gasp' moments near the end, as well as some funny bits. It seems that Anya's vengance demon (Justice demon!) Friend knows Spike from somewhere.... (she called him William!) He appeared to know her as well.

Buffy 6.14 FAQ
What's it called?
"Older and Far Away."

Who's responsible?
Teleplay is credited to Drew Greenberg ("Smashed").

What does TV Guide say?
"Lonely Dawn feels like the odd-girl out when the Scooby Gang throws a party in honor of Buffy's birthday, leading to a fateful wish that leaves the Slayer and her friends in a fix. Clem: James C. Leary. Richard: Ryan Browning. Sophie: Laura Roth. Hallie: Kali Rocha."

What is TV Guide not telling us?
When Tara accidentally unleashes a teleporting demon inside the house, some of the gang "“ especially Anya "“ pressures Will to use magic to save the day.

The big news?
Despite rumors to the contrary, no one learns of the Spike-Buffy sex this week.

The less-big news?
It turns out vengeance demons punish more than just cheaty males "“ cheaty males were just Anyanka's thing.

Ah. Is Halfrek involved in the lockdown?
"˜Tis she who grants Dawn's wish.

Do Spike and Halfrek have a connection?
When they meet near episode's end, they seem to recognize each other. She even calls him "William." One senses a sexual history.

Any non-scoobies come to the party?
If one excludes Halfrek, three. A handsome co-worker of Xander's, Spike's not-so-handsome pal Clem (whom we met playing poker with Spike in "Life Serial"), and Buffy's Doublemeat coworker Sophie.

Does Dawn's stealing come to light?
Yep. And imagine Anya's reaction when unsold Magic Box inventory is discovered in Dawn's room.

The Nerds of Doom sit it out again?
They do.

Any sign of Fantastico?
Nope.

Is the Buffy-Spike sex a thing of the past?
They don't do it this week, but one senses Buffy hasn't closed the door on the relationship yet. (It bears noting, however, that Spike still sports a colossal black eye from the pummelling the slayer gave him last week.)

Does Dawn invite Spike to the party?
No. He finds out about it from Willow.

Whose idea is it to invite Tara?
Buffy's. But she clears it through Will first.

What's the what with Will and Tara?
Things are awkward at first, but they grow considerably friendlier as the night wears on.

Is there the touching and the kissing?
Not this week.

Does Will go back on the pipe?
That would be telling.

What's the what with Xander and Anya?
Anya freaks out worse than anyone else and starts to unbutton her top "“ but Xander stops her. No, Xander! Bad Xander!

What's great?
Will's dilemma. Buffy's growing bond with Tara. Sophie.

What's not so great?
Dawn's whining about always being neglected is the brokenest of records. Also? Absolutely no new "Buffy" next week!

Hmmm, Dawn being a self-absorbed, spoiled little brat??!!! Must be Tuesday. 🙂

Boy, after Dawn yelled at everyone to get out (three times) I wanted to slap her right across the freakin' face!!

Yes, I just saw it!

And I agree, Dawn needed a good slapping! The episode wasn't all that bad, I don't think that I enjoyed it as much as others because I am in a pretty bad mood...but hey! Buffy helped make it better. And I LOVED Spikes inuendo's, and his "muslce cramp". His and Tara's exchanges...hilarious! ::rolf::

This was a good episode not great there have been better. The best scenes were with spike & tara the whole" muscle cramp thing"" too funny.Dawn has been acting spoiled lately but even more than that is her stealing things (i.e. the present she gave buffy)

A full night of buffy next tuesday 2episodes..can`t wait!!::dance::

I'm really getting tired of Dawn they need to do something with her charactor to make her less selfish and spoiled. I really wanted to slap her tonight like a couple of you have mentioned. I've never liked Dawn but she's just gone to far as of late. Tara was great! I loved how she was interacting with Spike and her standing up to Anya about presuring Willow when knowbody else was doing anything for Willow at all.

Two things I liked:

The way Anya acted, strong & forceful--she was on center stage three or so times during the episode.

Dawn--I don't agree that she was a brat--but she DOES have problems. If even a demon can sense her pain, then I guess it must really exist.

*prepares to ostracize herself* Dawn had every reason to be a brat. Her mother dies, her sister dies and is brought back to life.. and isn't happy about it, [let's ignore the fact that the girl ain't normal to begin with], and all these people who are around aren't around for her, or around period. Yes, they have lives, but they all noticed Buffy wasn't around... Dawn is what, 15? She's technically a child, no matter how she came to be on this planet. She needs attention, love, and someone to be around, not "Enjoy your alone time, Dawny" all the time. Which is what she's been getting since Buffy came back. Do I condone the shoplifting? No.

But am I the only one who's ever gotten so frustrated that I screamed for people to get out of my room and leave me alone? She's hurting.. and it may not seem as important as Willow's addiction, or Buffy's thing with Spike and life itself.. but she's a kid. The people responsible for her are failing her left and right... So.. this time I say her behaviour isn't bratty.. it's trying to get attention. We scream to avoid suffering in silence.

Otherwise, this episode had one major thing going for it. Tara! 😀 Mmmm, Tara! *runs off to re-watch Tara-y goodness*

Ohh I really liked this episode *jumps up and down in joy* I think it was a slight return to the more lighthearted days of Buffy and it was seriously great to see Tara back again. And only one scene where Spike and Buffy grope each other like animals was a relief and it was really funny what Tara said to them about that with the whole "cramp" thing. ^_^ I'm so glad that Tara is back and I hope that she's around more in the future. I'm starting to like her character more and more.

Anya, one of my favorite characters, was just really awesome tonight. I agree that I liked the way that she took charge and how upset she was that Dawn stole from her. Emma did an amazing job with this episode and I hope that Anya gets some more screen time in the future.

Ok on the Dawn being a brat thing. For the most part I agree that I wanted to slap her throughout most of the episode but I agree with what Imp said. Dawn really did feel ignored and she had been through so much but no one was around for her to talk to and she must have been really lonely. She probably felt like she had lost Buffy again because she doesn't spend much time with her. But must I say *shakes finger* shoplifting is a major no no ^_^

tehhe but overall it was a good episode and I can't wait until the next new one. When will that be?

Oh i definatly think Dawn was being a Brat...screaming and whining like a 2 year old! I wanted to smack her too! hehe
I loved Tara in this ep she was Great standing up for Willow against Anya like she did woohoo! u go Tara!!

Isn't Halfrek Cecily, you know the woman the human William was in love with? coz they looked really alike, and i *think* it's the same actress... And they did recognise each other didn't they... Do you think Joss is cooking up something twisted for us?????

I really agree with you about this episode. I just thought the same. Spikes little lift of the eyebrow was so funny I loved it.
