Has anybody noticed Spikes reflection in Older and Far away, when Buffy pulls him into the hallway for making fun of that dude Xander and Anya set her up with.

Oh. Bahaha. I totally thought you meant he had a moment of self reflection and was like, "Wha? I don't remember that. All I remember was him being horny, grumpy, stuck in a house full of people who'd like to kill him, and surprising gracious about the whole being beaten-black-and-blue thing."

haha same thing - I was like was spike that moralistic??
Yeah but its the same as in s6 when he tries to rape Buffy, if u watch u see his leg in the bathroom mirror, and in once more with feeling, if u watch really closely you see Amber Benson/Tara bump into a beam during the final group song!!! im guessing some mistakes js stay in there..

The first time I actually found that out was from this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stmCpfOtZNQ Its a pop-up Spuffy video that I believe was made to be shown at a Buffy wrap party or something like that, its the funniest thing, it has all these random pop-up facts about general stuff and Buffy and Spike and its set to the Divinyls' I Touch Myself, I highly recommend it.

Oh, I love pop-up vids. Thank you!
Lol, I know, Mistakes are funny,
I don't want to sound annoying, but perhaps because he has a soul, he shows up, could be possible...

Well in most vampire lore its accepted that while vampires have no reflection in mirrors its different for whatever reason for photographs and video. Even in Angel Angel appears in photographs so i don't really consider the video thing a mistake.

by my rules i do 🙂 thats gonna bug the heck outa me when Trueblood starts... I'm used to the Whedonverse

will agree, i love to watch misakes really funny. In one episode of season five i noticed on teh bbc2 version one of the boom mics comes into the picture. And in season five when xander is babysitting dawn he says to joyce 'have fun, not too much fun though' his mouth doesnt move when he says it lol.

ha ha yep they dub stuff when people are turning, walking away or just to annoy us.

i think the boom thing has something to do with aspect ratio... not sure what tho, but I did see it when Willow was talking about making Tara and Dawn more welcome to the scoobies in the dorm room.

^ Yeah, I hate it when they dub stuff. I was watching one of my favorite movies the other day and noticed that it had been dubbed. It distracted me from the whole scene. Fortunately, I have yet to notice any glaring gaffes in Buffy (minus the horrible snake effects and Spike's reflection). A boom dip does seem mighty unprofessional, though.

I never understood why vamps could be seen by cameras but not by mirrors. Honestly, I also never understood why they could be seen by human eyes but not in mirrors. I think that in the days before cameras and TV shows, it had something to do with the fact that vampires weren't really there in the corporeal sense. They borrowed reanimated corpses, yes, but they also borrowed other forms, like fog and wolves. They were shapeshifters, devoid of any permanent, true form. Also, they were soulless. There was nothing but bloodlust animating a desecrated, stolen form. Due to that impermanence and the lack of anything real emanating from within the borrowed body, the lack of a reflection makes a weak resemblance of sense in a weird metaphysical kind of way. They reflected nothing because there was at core nothing to reflect. Whedonverse vampires, of course, just sort of borrow the neat trick of having no reflection and use it all Willy Nilly like without any real consistency - hence the showing up in photos but not in mirrors thing. It's really annoying.

Th reflections are mistakes, true.

But the movies aren´t. The Whedon logic says that vampires can be on photos, they just don´t looks nice =P
Angel in S2, for exemple

But that is faulty logic; a camera uses a mirror to take a photograph. So if a vampire cannot be seen in a mirror, they cannot be photographed.

You know the Divinyls' I Touch Myself pop up video with Spuffy, What episode is the end scene from, with Buffy and Spike actually being nice to each other??! I can't think where its from! Its looks like season4?

Um... if you're going to bring logic into it then logically vampires don't exist. * Runs away before hordes of Twi-hards converge screaming "Nooo Edward is reeel!!!"*

Yup, Vampires are souless creatures, and while reflectability only belongs to those with the soul - there is a concept in vampire mythology, that according to Orthodox beliefs the reflection in glassy or watery objects as well as shadow casting are [human] soul manifestations, so no mirors for vamps.
This traditional view on vampirism (that is common to Eastern/South Europe - whose mythology is loaded with undeads) is bringing up funky question: "Can Angel or Spike reflect gaining their souls back?" (*they don't in the show, I know, but just think...*)
For vamps don't reflect "on purpose".:: vampire::bbat::

And it's funky they bother to drop shadow on "Buffy" 🙂

Maybe, that's just not in the Buffyverse as they do differ.
