Omega Deleted Scenes

I liked Omega! Did it blow my mind? Hell no! Did I think it could have been much better? Hell yes! Did it confuse me due to character development flaws and random misleading promotional pics of November And Sierra looking kick ass? Hell Yes!

I dont know if people will agree with me or not but Omega wasnt wat i hoped it wud be. I mean dont get me wrong it had some nifty stuff thrown in but all in all it was messy.

I mean not only was the stupid chase at the climax pointless and boring but now im confused as to what these characters want. The main hook of the show (echo becoming self aware) doesnt matter anymore because if she's becoming self aware who cares? Caroline doesnt mind where she is and neither does Echo! Which means not only is there no drive for this characte but we as an audience have nothing to hope for for her!!!!
And dont even get me started on Mr Flaky Ballard!!!!!

But thats not what this thread is about. I found the original Omega script on Whedonesque and I think ul all agree that the climactic ending to this (it involves the above mentioned Nierra kick assness) is much better.

It's too bad they had to cut so much. You'd think they could've worked it out with those extended, 50 minute episodes of theirs.
 
That working script really is much better with the bounty hunter stuff left intact. Jeez.
 
Great stuff! Are there any other DH scripts out there in Internet Land? I've started collecting the Buffy scripts, but they're now hard to locate. 🙁

The little differences are very fascinating as is the style format for screenwriting.

E.g. I was just cruising through the script at 100mph and noticed it mentioned an "Alonzo T" (in blue highlight). The line they went with was "Juicy Couture" IIRC.
 
I thought this episode was hurt badly by the missing scenes. If they were going to cut out the November/Sierra bounty hunting storyline, they should have cut out the scene where they get imprinted. As it is, it was just a dangling plot point to make us scratch our heads over.

When you have the luxury of 50 minutes of show time for an hourlong episode, there's no excuse to run over time.

I agree with all you guys, but if they did cut the imprinting scene then we would have all been asking why wouldn't the Dollhouse hedge their bets and send out some appropriately imprinted Dolls
 
I actually thought the episode was better as seen on tv (ha ha) than it would have been had the bounty hunter scenes been shown. Here is why:

It was incredibly more poignant for me to see Ballard actually see with his own eyes his "Mellie" not only as a doll (and not just asleep) but also as a completely different person. I just died a little inside when November says hi to him and then within a few minutes calls him furniture. I mean, seriously OUCH. Also, the last bounty hunter scene with Alpha would have detracted for me from the emotions we can see in Ballard when he finally "saves the girl" (the wedge of Caroline). I would have been way too distracted by the danger that Sierra and November would have been in to notice how he showed that he felt both completely useless and also successful at the same time.

I really enjoyed reading the alternate script, and if those scenes were actually shot and I get to see them when my DVD set gets here I might just change my mind, but as it stands now I think they made the right decisions on what to cut and what to keep.
