I cant believe!!! My nana died 2 years ago and I didnt know and now i feel really guilty. You may ask why but its because well my mum abandoned me and left me with my dad when I was 8-12 months old and then i never saw her until i was 13 and i saw my nana once and she gave me £100 even though she had hardly any money and before i left i promised her i'd com and see her again but then i went on holiday and when i came back my mum had moved house and didnt want anything to do with me again so i never really felt comftable about going seeing my nana again incase my mum was there or something... so like 3/4 years later my mate's dad dies and my mate aint talked to his dad for months and he says to me even though your mum did what she did you should try and see her again otherwise i'll regret it... so last week i wrote to my nana asking her how shes doing, telling her how im doing, asking about my mum etc but then this morning through the post i get a letter of a Mrs P. Warren, who now lives in my nanas house saying she died 2 years ago and this is why i feel guilty cos i broke my promise and what has p***** me off even more is i never got to go to her funeral, i have nothing to remember he by and i dont even remember what she looks like and i dont know where she buried so i cant sya goodbye or anything!!!
Sorry to be buredning all you guys with my problems but i had to tell someone how i feel or i'll explode and i dont want to tell my friends they have enough of their own problems, but im just glad i managed to get it out of me, thanks BB youv'e helped me again!!!

i think you gotta flip your sig....memories can also inspire....

you do...what you feel you need to do...to mourn the loss of your grandma...a single ceremony...a single technique for mourning...but don't you dare carry this burden with you for the rest of your life...

remember your grandma as the great person she was...and smile...and know that she's watching you....cheering for you to make something of yourself...

Listen to this bloke here, he knows what he's talking about!
I'm so sorry about that Xin Rong.

I'm sure though, that if you believe in an 'afterlife' or heaven, that your nana understands and everything will be okay. Just keep positive, and think about the fact that you did get to meet her once.

I'm so sorry about your loss. I know how hard it can be. A family member of mine died two weeks ago so I know it's rough. If you need anyone to talk to who knows how you feel, feel free to drop me a PM. Take care.

I can't think of anyone who'd be more compassionate in this matter than you, Hero...
I'm really sorry about this whole situation for you.

I can definitely understand why you're so upset and hurt. There is no reason for you to feel guilty, you did not know your nana very well. While I am sure that you wished you could have known her better and you feel bad having not visited her again there is no reason for you to feel that way. Hindsight is always 20/20 (to use the old cliche).

There is no reason for you to feel guilty, it's not your fault you didn't get to know her well. Just remember her for the person she was when you met her.

If you need anything feel free to contact me.

Thanks guys, you have no idea how much better i fell knowing I have someone to talk to if i need you, love you all thanks!!!

Im so sorry to hear, especially as its taken two years to find out. Hope you can get through the grief.

Sorry to hear about ur nana. I kinda know how you feel about the guilty thing but its true, not ur fault. When my Grams was dying I didn't know cause no one told me she had cancer, so I acted like everything was cool. After she passed I felt so bad for acting like I had no worries. Had I known then I woulda been around more and I'm sure had you known 2 years ago you woulda been there too. I'm here as well if ya wanna talk.

I'm so sorry this had to happen, Xin, but you can't beat yourself up over something you didn't know about. A little research may find you her burial site, and you could visit and calm your feelings a bit. If not, a visit to your nearest church/synogogue/mosque/quiet park for some quiet meditation and prayer might help. As SG said, find a way to honour her life, and what she meant to you. THAT'S better than feeling crappy and guilty, for sure!

I am very sad for you, Xin. I'm not going to say sorry, because, well, my grandfather just passed away, not five days ago, and I know how sick and tired I am of people saying SORRY. There's nothing you can do, it just makes themselves feel better. It is the polite thing to say, so don't get my wrong, I'm not saying BAN ALL SORRYS!!! but...I know what your going through hun.

Its too bad you never knew your grandmother. But don't blame yourself, for not writing sooner, for not being in contact, or even for not remembering her. Shes apart of you, no matter what. Everyone has grandparents, whether they're alive or not. Even if they live in a different country, or have passed away, youre always going to have that one person connected to you, even if youve never met them.
