OMG Spoiler for Issue # 12

Allycat agrees: Maybe something happened inside Buffy's head when she heard Willow's fantasy of snuggling up with Tina Fey 😉

Haha, perhaps, perhaps. Maybe Buffy wanted a glimpse at what the fuss was all about. Haha.

Hmmmm :disapproving look: Hehe. I dread to think who you'd want her partner to be. :JS thinks for a moment: Wait! Don't answer that!

I don't really get how people can say that about Buffy (It being out of character), I think it's very in character!

It's always been shown that Buffy liked sex, makes sense now that she has no one and is surrounded by all girls except for Xander, who she would probably consider more family, that she would turn to a girl for Sex.

The only thing that I don't like abut it, is the situation. It's always been shown that the potentials were younger then the gang, but I guess thats debateable.

But to go and have sex with Satsu without letting her know first that it would be a one time thing was a bit stupid. Satsu was being very rational about it, but she could have gone the other way and gotten pissed off, told everyone and screwed Buffy over as she how could she be their leader after something like that?

How do you guys see Willow taking this? I see her going for being insulted that Buffy would just experiment when she knows she's not gay. I don't think it would go the insulted cuz it wasn't me route.

on a side note, pity this wasn't on TV. Think about it, Slayer - Vampire = hot, Slayer - Sayer = Hot and one word:

stamina.

Ok, so any old hetrosexual chick who happens to enjoy sex is a gonna turn to a girl for a bit of action when she has an itch that needs to be scratched? Sorry still don't buy it.
I am starting to wonder if its a coincidence that Satsu is a naked "ASIAN" girl (according to Andrew's observation) and the new menace that has just stolen the scythe also happen to be Asian. I smell collusion. Buffy has always been suseptable to love spells and completely oblivious to the fact she's under one... okay maybe not, but i am looking for some purpose for why this is important to the story. I hate the idea that Buffy had an unconventional encounter purely to make us all go WOW (which we are all doing very nicely btw🙂). Yeah, there were sex scenes in BTVS but they were always pretty purposeful in the context of the story. I need there to be a logical, contextual purpose for this one too.

Joss seems to do a lot of things this season either just because he can or because it will shock us.

Add me to the shocked parade, I really should have seen it coming but I can't help but feel this is not something that ever would have happened if the show was still on tv. Something about it feels that Whedon is going for the headlines with this one, rather than staying through to the character.

Well, if he was goin' for headlines, he sure got 'em! It looks like every site on the net that might have any kind of interest in Buffy, as well as quite a few who don't are carrying that one frame and Buffy's comment: "Wow"
Good interview link GB. Something struck me about the list of writers for the stand-alones - "Jane Espenson, Drew Greenburg, Doug Petrie, Steve DeKnight, and Jim Krueger. Four Buffy writers, and a great comic book writer."

Isn't Doug Petrie the guy Fuffy's are always fussing over, because supposedly he was giving Faith these subliminal, homosexual insinuations? It got me to thinking, if he does a Faith story, could it be...

I also checked out that Buffy/Satsu panel again. Did anybody else find themselves taken back to the days of the online comic, "Evil Vampire Willow"? Does anybody even know what I'm talking about?

Edit:

Also, this means absolutely nothing really, but wasn't it kind of cute in that panel that Mr. Gordo was laying on the floor. 🙂 Love the way Jeanty always finds something cool to put in the background.

Oh and another member of the mainstream media jumped on the story - ABC.

Scott Allie defends Joss against allegations of just forcing in the Buffy/Satsu thing for the hype.

With #12 being “Cloverfield” and “Lost” writer Drew Goddard’s first issue on the popular comic, some have speculated the same-sex encounter was a pure publicity stunt by Dark Horse. To that, Allie said, “Uh, uh.”

“This seed was planted in Joss’ first arc,” he explained. “In issue #3, we saw the beginnings of this. And Joss and Drew really started working on the ‘Wolves at the Gate’ storyline in late spring/early summer of last year.

Busted!
“The way the story evolved with ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 8’ is Joss and the writer, whether it’s Brian K. Vaughan or Drew or the writers that are coming up later, these guys are all friends, they have a working history, they have relationships so they spend time together and just shoot the shit about this stuff and they spitball and come up with it.

“And they talk about what they like to do. Drew really likes Dracula. That’s why Dracula is in the ’Wolves at the Gate’ arc. It wasn’t, ‘we need Dracula now, let’s find the best guy to write it.’ It was more, ‘we want to do something with Drew, at this point, what’s appropriate?’ So the two of them, talking this story out, is how this thing evolved.

“It was after they worked out this story line that Joss actually went in and wrote issues #10 and #11. So issue #11 very much set up the Satsu thing. At one point, we didn’t know Joss would write issue #11. At one point, Drew’s arc was going to start with #11, but scheduling shuffled stuff around and it made most sense to do those two issues in a row, which gave him the opportunity to develop this thing with Satsu so it wouldn’t come out of nowhere when issue #12 came out.”

Allie did admit Dark Horse had tipped off retailers that ordering some extra issues of #12 wouldn’t be the worst idea.

Hey that was a good interview. Notice how he confirmed my Willow in #10 theory ;)

I remember the "Evil Vampire Willow" strip. I think it's still on the net if anyone's interested.
Rowan Hawthorn disagrees: So far in the entire 7 1/2 seasons we've had what, a grand total of 2 hot(?) girl-on-girl scenes? Compared to how many half-nekkid Buffy/Boyfriend? Wow, smokin'! Maybe they should've done the whole Buffy/Satsu scene in blacked-out panels...

Dude all I did was express an opinion. Actually I was really balanced in that and never attacked anyone else in doing so, and suggested I might feel different after reading the issue. I'm not going to just automatically agree with people like you, or anyone else. If I have a different view on the world get over it.

Anyway I'm looking forward to getting this, trying to not read the transcripts that are around! Had a friend spoil me already 😛 Wonder if I can pick up #13 in Rome somewhere.. how do you say "Can I have the new Buffy comic" in Italian?

The bottom line is, this is Joss... if anyone knows what Buffy would potentially do, it's him... Joss knows best. It's why we're all here... 'cause if he didn't, the show would have never been the cult-classic it grew to be.

You'd be surprised 😉

Jesus H Christ, I did not attack you, I commented on your effin' post, and that was all. Grow up, for gods' sake.

I'm sure I don't know what your talking about...

And hey guys lets calm down a wee bit here ok, we're just chatting🙂

Has anybody noticed that Buffy seems to always have the worst "morning after the night before" experiences? Angel woke up a monster, Parker had left, she woke up scared that Riley wouldn't be there, she was shamed and disgusted after Spike, and now everybody in the castle but the janitor walks in on her first female experience (okay, maybe that one wasn't technically the morning after, unless you consider it being after midnight). She never gets to enjoy a little snuggle and smooch followed by the whispering and giggling that always makes the whole thing perfect. I feel kinda sorry for the girl. her happy time always turns into a disaster.

On another note entirely, can we really continue to call this a spoiler, given its widespread coverage by the media? Everybody in the free world must know by now.

Good points WA. That snuggling afterwards is one of the best parts of the whole experience and Buffy seems to miss out on it time and again. I guess she really only had that with Riley.

And, I guess it's not really a spoiler anymore... sort of at least. That gives me an idea for a new poll.

Even with Riley, she had that initial moment of fear, something of an "Angel flashback," I guess you'd call it, a moment of fear when she thought he either wouldn't be there or would be a monster or both.

If it's got spoiler in the title you can talk about it in the thread.
