Re: Speculation on "you-know-who" coming to Angel in Season 5...
I don't agree with those who feel Spike and Angel are too much alike for them to both be regulars on AtS. If you'll forgive the Andrew-like analogy, their characters more like Batman and Superman (or Faith and Buffy). Spike is darker and more realistic in his goals. Angel is more of a "Boy Scout", though perhaps less so after the W&H merger.
Consider also the following possible sources of continued dramatic/comedic tension between these two characters...
- Alpha Male Factor: Spike is not exactly a follower (except for Buffy's sake 😉). While a 'good-guy', should he enter the Team Angel/W&H fold, he is likely to challenge Angel's leadership abilities while still gaining the confidence of the other team members.
- Bad Boy Factor: Face it... Angel is the "boy-next-door" compared to Spike. Frankly, I could see Lightning-Lass Gwen (for one) falling for him big-time. Spike would be definite ongoing competition with Angel for the ladies.
- Humanity Factor: Spike is a much more balanced/less schizo vampire than Angel/Angelus. Spike, even without his soul, fell in love and sought redemption. Angelus was without mercy or human emotion. Expect Spike to rub Angel's nose in that one from time to time. He is also now more at ease with his animalistic demon side and able to tap into it at a level Angel (without Angelus' help) is unable.
- Buffy Factor: That look on Spikes's face on the most recent Buffy ep was priceless... I expect he may have some pay-back up his sleeve for Angel, restored soul or no.
