Is it just me, or does this seem kind of inspired by Once More With Feeling? ๐Ÿค”

I think it was inspired by Riverdale.

Despite many examples given in other posts, all good, I can't shake that about everything is based on Riverdale these days.
Musical episodes were around before Buffy did theirs. Xena did one in 1998. So did the Simpsons. Ally McBeal did one in 2000 (and then started having a musical ending to the episode fairly regularly).

DS-9 had their Vic Fontaine episodes.

No Daria?
Star Trek transforms into a space opera. ๐Ÿ˜€

But seriously this seems like yet more prime cringe Trek content.

But could it be worse than "Spock's Brain"?

Daria might be after the time of thrasherpix, yet Darla is of any time, vampires being immortal an' all.
Thankfully though she never learnt how to shoot with a phaser.

Finally got round to watching this. Definitely not up to OMWF standards.
However there were quite a few nods/references/homages to Buffy/OMWF. These are ones I caught...

'Poof into Bunnies' line. That's really 2 references. Anya's bunny fear & poof was often ascribed to vamp staking on Buffy
Song included lines about no faith & staked. Those are just too obvious not to be Buffy references
singing equals confessing
question about what all this singing could lead to/consequences
Two female characters singing about feelings and floating

Here's some possible nods/references/homages that might just be coincidental...

music right after 1st wave seemed eerily similar to OMWF
both credit themes were also musical
singing cause by mystical/sci-fi cause

My favorite 2 parts: Nurse Chappels song & the Klingon number was hysterical! ๐Ÿ˜€
