Heya! This is my first venture into Buffy fanfic, so I hope you enjoy! This is Part 1 of a multi-part thread/story that I'll be working on over some time. Feel free to kick your feet up, grab a nice warm drink, and enjoy the story of One Day, One Life. ❤️
Willow opened her finally un-blindfolded eyes, blinked a few times, and dropped her mouth wide open in awe. She had never seen anything quite like this and she felt deep down that it would be a lifetime before she would ever see anything so special again. This was…it was a lot. More than anyone had ever done for her before. While she stood there (Like a total idiot, she thought to herself), she heard a voice speak out from behind her.
“Well? Did I do a good job,” the oh so familiar and lovely voice asked.
Before she even turned, Willow knew that it was Tara. That soft-spoken demeanor and that voice are both things she would never forget for as long as she lived. She’s mine, and she’s perfect, she often thought. And one day? One day, Tara baby, one day we’ll tie the knot and run away together. I promise.
“Did you…did you do this for me,” Willow responded. Oz had done many special things for her, true, but this was different. Nobody, not even her mother, had done something like this.
“I did! I uh…I hope it’s what you wanted? I mean, um, I mean if it’s not we can always…I dunno,” Tara replied, a little worried.
“It’s…it’s perfect, Tara baby,” Willow said with a smile, and in that moment they kissed. One day. I promise.
It was Willow’s birthday, and Tara had been promising all month that it was going to be a special one. “It’s our first, y’know? Our first…our first together, and I want to be good for you.” That was the line that Willow had been told over and over, and it was one that she had frankly gotten sick of. Not because of the sentiment. No, she loved Tara and she loved to see that feeling reciprocated in her own special way. No, what she was sick of was the idea that Tara had to be “good” at all. It was her dad. That….that….ASS. I hope he rots. Someday, she would take Tara back home and they would be strong together. Overcome her hateful father and maybe get her misled siblings to come around and see how strong she really was. Until that day, Willow was content with keeping Tara safe, loved, and in a place where no one could hurt her. Not anymore.
The birthday surprise that Tara had cooked up was something that Willow couldn’t have been more happy with. Ever since that awakening back in college (Well, both of them, she thought with a chuckle) she had acquired a fascination with magic. Tara knew that better than anyone, and that’s why here, on her birthday, she was blindfolded and driven to a wonderful place that she never even expected. It was the Los Angeles Witches, Warlocks, and Wicca Convention, an assembly of magic enthusiasts from across the state (at least), and she couldn’t be more happy to be here. Not just in the presence of other magical users and fans, but with the woman she loved more than anything. She took Tara’s hand and they walked into the venue, excited for what lay ahead of them. This was going to be a birthday to remember.
The tables and vendors covered almost every area of magic imaginable. To the left, Willow could see an older woman selling handcrafted tarot cards. That brought back memories. She had a deck at home; it was a simple Rider-Waite set. She had bought it at the Magic Box from Giles, though his protests at their ineffectiveness were a tad unnecessary. "Willow," he had said. "These cards don't do a blasted thing. Why don't you go get something more useful, like a lucky troll's thumb or a six iris'd newt's eye?" That had irked her a little. She knew the cards were likely to fail and be a party trick. That wasn't the point. The point was to buy something that could give her direction. This was in the time before she had committed herself to Tara fully. Before she had really known that this was who she really was. The cards will help...help show me if I'm just pretending, or if I'm really in love. If...if she is really in love, she had thought. The ironic thing is that she had never actually used the cards. Things had gotten so busy with Glory and Buffy....Buffy.
Now that was a wound she didn't want to open. Not now.
Her attention went back to the convention. Over there was a man dressed in a wizard hat (Giles?!) who was handing out free tokens of good will. They had just walked past a young girl who was selling beautiful clothes, likely crafted by her mother or grandmother. Oh and over there was...her thoughts were cut off by a glance at Tara. She wasn't looking around, no, but she was just...smiling. Smiling that cute and small smile that Willow had seen in those tender moments. The moments in the dorm room. The moments when the lights were off and all they knew was each other. Those moments. Moments of nothing but pure happiness and love, and seeing that look on Tara's face just now brought a surge of joy to Willow's heart. They had truly saved each other when they finally decided to get together, and she could see it in times like these. Nothing would ever tear them apart. Willow wouldn't allow it, and she doubted Tara would either. What they had...what they shared...that was something that Willow would ensure lasted and stood the test of time and hardship. It already had when Glory had worked her hateful curse into Tara's head, and it would forevermore. Because this love wasn't like the one she had with Oz. She loved him, still did to be honest, but that was not the same love that she felt for Tara. No, this was something beyond that, and it's something that she couldn't really quantify or describe, because as much as Willow tried, she couldn't ever truly explain what true romantic love felt like. She just knew deep inside her heart that whatever it was supposed to feel like is exactly how she felt now, holding hands with her girlfriend who was so shy a year or so ago that she was afraid to speak up in a group meeting. Now they were in public and they were a power couple. Now, and forever.

Not bad for a second installment, I think or was this the first installment of how many installments?
