One Thing You Would Change In Both "Buffy" and "Angel"

What is the ONE thing that you would change in each season of both "Buffy" and "Angel"?

For me

Buffy:
Season 1 - The use of the theme song being used after Buffy is resurrected by Xander in "Prophecy Girl". That was beyond cheesy imo.

Season 2: Angeleus killing Oz instead of Jenny like originally planned. No offense to the Willow/Oz fans, I never cared about the relationship to be honest. I'm a Tillow fan anyways lol

Season 3: The Evil Watcher manipulating the Scooby Gang and started the Rift between Buffy and Faith's friendship. I wish they would have remained civil or friends at least until Bad Girls without any bad blood.

Season 4: Sunday being the Big Bad; Slayer turned Vampire.

Season 5: Joyce dying (even if it was planned since Season 2)

Season 6: Riley returning. "As You Were" made no sense in season 6.

Season 7: Jonathan being killed and not Andrew.

Angel:

Season 1: Whistler being Angel's guide to The Powers instead of Doyle.
Season 2: Kate not returning in season 2 and leaving after Season 1.
Season 3: Connor being born
Season 4: The Destruction of Cordelia Chase
Season 5: An Appearance of Buffy instead of that mess we got in "The Girl in Question" or having Dawn appear in Season 5 two times instead of Andrew
 
I completely agree on the main theme being used in Prophecy Girl. Beyond cheesy.

One of the biggest things I would change is that Buffy eventually finds out about the events of "I Will Remember You", possibly during the last few episodes of Season 7, like when Angel comes back. I can understand him not wanting to hurt her, but she was an adult by the time of S7, she could have handled it

"Hell's Bells." Basically, I totally see a plot-line in which Xander stands Anya up at the alter, but the plot-line I saw in "Hell's Bells" just wasn't it. The fact that they had a demon come in to spite Anya seems like it fits with the show, but to have Xander take the demons projections as a warning even AFTER he finds out they are false doesn't ring true for the character for me. It could have been done a lot more subtle, and much like why "The Body" works, didn't necessarily need a supernatural element in the episode.

So it's not ONE thing, but the OP didn't list just 1 thing, either. 😛

BtVS

Kendra would have never been a character. Faith would have been the Slayer to be called immediately after Buffy died in Season 1, but we still wouldn't have met her til Season 3.

Drusilla would have been dusted by Spike in "Crush".

Oz would never have left Sunnydale, and Tara would have never been introduced.

Riley wouldn't have been married when he came back to Sunnydale...


Angel

Kate would have been gone after Season 1.

Connor would have never been born.

The entire Jasmine arc would NEVER have happened.

Fred and Wes would have been together instead of Gunn and Fred.

Gunn wouldn't have lost his smarts after they got to W&H.
 
I have a lot. Sorry in advance. ^.^

BtVS:

- Tara's death. I get that it was a catalyst for the end of the season, but I really liked her.

- Spike's attempted rape of Buffy. Again, I get that it was a catalyst for his character arch but I wish they had thought of something else.

- Kennedy and Willow's relationship. I feel like it was rushed at the end of the series and I really didn't see the point.

- Anya's return to being a vengeance demon. This really bothered me, especially the episode in where she tries to get someone to wish so she can kill Xander in a horrific way.

- Angel's appearance and make-out scene with Buffy in the last two episodes of the series. Not only was it unnecessary and out of the blue, but I felt Angel's behavior was just odd. I feel that the amulet could have been something found by Giles and given to Buffy instead.

- Spike saying, "No, you don't" after Buffy tells him she loves him. Totally ruined the moment.


AtS:

- The episode "I Will Remember You." As much as I enjoyed seeing Buffy and Angel have a few moments of bliss, it pissed me off really bad that Angel made the choice he did at the end. It really damaged my view of his character. I would have preferred that the episode NOT exist at all, because it was just a tease for the audience. There's also the purple elephant in the room that if it was that easy to turn a vampire into a human, then it could have been done again. And finally, I think Buffy should have found out about it.
 
BS1: The music is too cheesy.
BS2: Spike to never be in a wheelchair
BS3: A complete rewrite of Beauty and The Beasts. ''Don't Get Hit?'' Really? Wow, an episode that you could accuse of containing both misanthropy and misogyny
BS4: Agree with Sunday as a big bad! She was cool.
BS5: This is hard... a very good season imo. Something that bugged me when the Scoobies found out Dawn was the key was there reactions. Saying out loud statements such as ''how can she not be real'' was stupid.
BS6: For Grave to not end with Spike getting his soul back. To me, that episode was entirely Xander and Willow. I wanted it so much to end with Willow's grief and response, with the magic draining from her, than Spike getting his soul back. Felt sour for me.
BS7: More Caleb. And give him some backstory - where does his power come from? His purpose? Plus, in my book, the more Nathan Fillion, the better 🙂

A1: To expand Jeremy Renner's character beyond one episode.
A2: Honestly, nothing comes to mind.
A3: Too much of that black and white logic when looking at demons, vampires, etc. Say, in ''That Old Gang Of Mine'' as well as initially Connor. It's season 3, parallel to season 6 of BTVS. The buffyverse should be beyond that.
A4: Don't kill off Lilah.
A5: I'd love if Faith made an appearance. The friendship she had with Wesley and Angel holds a special part of my heart.
 
I would cancel all live bands from playing at The Bronze. (Not sure where that leaves Oz mind)

Yeah, Pike. You know why? Three reasons.

Pike's cool

Pike is Buffy's coolest potential love interest, like ever. Seriously, Satsu is a lesbian Japanese Katana wielding hot chick with superpowers and Pike's still cooler, Jesus Christ. He could teach Oz how to be cool, it's like, you walk into a room, you see Pike, you know he's cool. Still need more reasons? Alright.

Pike's not evil

Let's be honest here, the way "Buffy" portraits male characters is sexist. In BtVS men are evil, they are murderers, rapists and wankers, all of the above most of the time, really. Pike's not like that, OK? He counterweights this bullshit. He's not a murderer/rapist like Angel and Spike and unlike Xander and Riley he doesn't have a problem with Buffy's power. When she tells him to stay back, he stays back, from the get-go he accepts that she's the hero and he's OK with just helping her, zero complexes. Also, he's not pushy, he doesn't stalk her, he doesn't try to make decisions for her, Pike's not pathetic. The show desperately needed a thoroughly positive male character, basically a male version of Tara. By the way, imagine those two hanging out, freaking ice age cool.

Pike's presence curbs vampire masturbation

Yeah, what I said. He doesn't even have to be a regular or a love interest or whatever. You simply can't just wank so much with vamps when you've got a guy like this on the show, right?

If you want to get technical, I think Pike's actually dead in the book's timeline. He's in the book "Sins of the Father", and I think he gets turned to stone

Well, technically only when soulless, which is a norm for any soulless vampire. My dislike of Spike is more academic/writing related than personal.

And on second thought I probably would not have him dusted, because why upset so many quite innocent fans? But yeah, I would have stripped his S7 arc of any romantic sentiments regarding his would-be victim; and I would have made sure that he goes for self-immolation in the season finale not to get the 'I love you - No you don't ' moment but because of all the remorse he is feeling over the innocents he killed and turned while under the First influence in S7.

Actually, since the rule in the Buffyverse, established way back in Season 1, is that a vampire becomes a totally new person, still able to feel remorse for what his soulless counterpart did, but no longer actually held responsible for or taken to task because of those past offenses, Spike in Season 7 is NOT a rapist. You're probably confusing him with his soulless counterpart, "Spike-us."
