Opening Narration

OK, I'm trying to remember: is it only seasons 1 and 2 that we hear this opening narration? And who is the person doing the narration in season 1? It's not Anthony Head, although he does do it later. I always go "Who the heck is that?" whenever I hear that other voice, it doesn't sound like anybody I recognize, and it's kind of cheesy. :tongue3: Why did they stop including the narration?

I think they stopped doing it because it was cheesy... but I agree, I loved it. I always say it along with whoever does it (mystery guy or Anthony Head).

during the first two season...it was one of my favorite parts...i'd always lower my voice and say it triumphantly

I don't know who did it first so can't help you with that. I liked the intro the first few times but when I was glad that they stopped. As with the intro (goes for all shows) I just want it over with on get on with the show. Not the first times, and not when they change it. But after 5+ times I have no need to sit through it. Even if it's less than a minute it feels too long.

The original narration for season 1 was done by The WB's voiceover artist for promoting "Buffy", who narrated all the Buffy trailers for the show up until mid-season 3.

It was a good idea that they changed it to Giles. He definitely is one sexy fuddy duddy!

I think it went well with the feel of the show at first but I'm glad they stopped it when they did to!

Does anyone know if they stopped it when Kendra entered the picture? It would have been weird hearing it while their was two slayers!

Hahaha I also thought it was a bit cheesy. But I think it was there mostly because the show was new and it quickly explained to new viewers what it was about.

It was cheesier than the cheese man. At first I would say it but then I stated to get annoyed and just wanted the episode to start already.

Even though it was cheesy, I liked the intro. I liked it a lot better, though, when Anthony Head was the one who did the voiceover.

I never got the appeal to the network of the other guy, his voice is so boring & doesn't match the show at all. I would've loved if ASH or one of the other actors would've done the promos, but I suppose it would've been too pricey for them. His voice sounded so young, and I guess that was the point (that network being geared to younger audiences). Some of the promos are fun to watch now (since I didn't watch the show when it was being aired). The one for Hush is especially creepy.

By late season 3 The WB used a darker voice for all the WB series trailers, not just Buffy.

It got sporadic in season 2 after What's My Line .... I think the last time it is used is on Go Fish. I think. Or was it Bad Eggs? No, no ... Go Fish. Right? Anyway, I guess it was redundant by it's 3rd year - if you didn't know who Buffy was by then you probably shouldn't have been watching!

Yeah they did... I think the network had a couple of actors that they used for all the voiceovers.
