Orange is the New Black season 5

Is anyone else keeping up with Orange is the New Black and has watched season 5? If so what were your thoughts? And what is your favorite ship if you have one? Mine is Nicky/Lorna and I'm starting to write some fanfiction for them.

I quite liked season 5. I think, like all OITNB seasons, it started out kind of slow, but became more interesting by episode 5 or something. Taystee stands out to me positively, Piper was less annoying than usual, I liked Red and Bianca's friendship, learning more about Freida, and the ending. I can't remember a lot of specifics right now unfortunately. I don't really ship anyone. I like Piper/Alex actually, despite not liking Piper. And Nicky is one of my favorite characters, so I don't mind Nicky/Lorna at all. I like their friendship.

I think, looking back, I preferred season 4 to season 5. The latter part of season 4 anyway. There were good moments in season 5 but I found the actual plot pretty tiresome. The whole season being set over a few days didn't work for me. But in general it was good enough, probably because there was less focus on Piper, and like Carrie said, she was less annoying. A couple of characters that have really grew on me the past couple seasons are Black Cindy and Pennsatucky, and my favourite characters have stayed pretty consistent over the seasons (Red/Caputo/Lorna/Aleida).

I loved season 5, I've already watched it twice. I think it's my second fav season after season 4.

Taystee was definitely the highlight of the season. I don't think there's ever been a character quite like her on TV, and I say that in a very good way. We need more Taystees on our screens!

I agree that Piper was much less annoying this season. And I actually liked her and Alex this season. They needed a mostly drama free season, or else their story would have gotten tired really quick.

Nicky and Lorna's relationship/friendship is my favourite. But I think too much as happened for me to really ship them anymore. I'm as tired as Nicky with the constant pull and push from Lorna. And I haven't forgotten that Nicky sexually assaulted Lorna. I hope they give Nicky more meat to her story next season.

Red on speed was gold! But it was nice to see her interact with Blanca, I enjoy when we get to see some unlikely interactions.

Maria and Gloria were also highlights of the season, they are two of my favourites.

This season overall was a lot funnier than the heavy s5, but the humour didn't feel misplaced like in season 3.

The end really took me by surprise. I wonder what it means for the next season. Those last 2 minute were probably the second most heartbreaking moment of the show for me (after Poussey's death of course).

It's the only netflix show I'm really invested in. Nicky is one of my favorite fictional characters ever and Nicky/Lorna is a big OTP.

My favorite characters are : Nicky, Lorna, Poussey, Lolly, Taystee, Pennsatucky (though she's bit a bit meh those last 2 seasons, damn that guard storyline!) and I've been enjoying Alex a lot since season 4.

I can't tell which was my favorite season because they all have strenghts and weaknesses, though I know season 3 is my least favorite. I'm doing a rewatch (quite slowly because I'm watching with my roommate and he's never available so) so I think I'll be able to rank them soon-ish..

I read the first chapter and it's so good!!! I saw the 2nd chapter was released yesterday but I haven't had time to sit down (without any distractions) and read it yet.
